After the other two left, Shen Beian sat on a rattan chair in the flower room, holding an old book but unable to concentrate on reading it. He didn't eat any of the pastries or fruit beside him, nor did he touch the tea next to him.
They waited until Gu Nanyan returned in the evening.
Holding eleven decorated red tulips, Gu Nanyan gracefully arrived.
"Where is the master?" Gu Nanyan took off his outer robe and changed his shoes, but did not see that familiar figure.
Uncle Chen walked over and said, "After Young Master Fu and Young Master Ye left, the master has been staying in the flower room."
Gu Nanyan held flowers in one hand and adjusted his glasses with the other. "What did they talk about?"
Uncle Chen shook his head, "I didn't hear anything, but the three of them have been in the greenhouse the whole time."
How could someone possibly be eavesdropped on in their own home?
Gu Nanyan was not surprised. He simply nodded and walked towards the flower room.
Shen Bei'an was in a daze and didn't even notice Gu Nan'an's arrival.
"An'an, what are you thinking about?" Gu Nanyan approached him and placed the bunch of red tulips in front of Shen Bei'an.
Shen Bei'an only reacted when he heard Gu Nan'an's voice. He took the flowers, but his usual obvious joy was replaced by a more solemn expression.
"What's wrong?" Gu Nanyan sat down next to Shen Bei'an and took a sip of water from Shen Bei'an's teacup.
Aunt Wang had already cleaned up the tea set and tableware that Fu Mutian and Ye Lin had used.
Shen Beian wrapped her arms around the flower and rested her chin on the petals.
The flowers that Gu Nanyan bought were naturally the best, and there was no chance of them being blown open by someone.
This wasn't the first time Shen Bei'an had done this; the movement was very gentle and wouldn't crush the petals.
"Yan Yan, what's the name of your teacher, the one at your Elite Academy?" Shen Bei'an pursed his lips but still asked.
Gu Nanyan made no attempt to hide his identity, "Zou Bingjun."
For seven years he wielded power to regulate the four seasons, and the prison market in one region was restored.
Bingjun means to govern!
“Why is An’an so curious about my master? If you want to meet him, it might be a bit troublesome. He’s traveling around, and it’s difficult to contact him.” Gu Nan’an’s tone was relaxed, and his voice was gentle and mild, as always.
There were no questions asked.
On the contrary, Shen Bei'an asked, "Did you know that the girl next to Lu Zhi at Nan Chen's engagement banquet a while ago was the daughter of the Zou family?"
Shen Bei'an's sixth sense has always been quite good. On the night of Gu Nanchen's engagement banquet, Lu Er was taken away.
Meanwhile, Lu Er's younger cousin was accompanied by the young lady of the Zou family from Fuyun Island.
This inevitably made him think about something.
Gu Nanyan toyed with the Song Dynasty teacup in his hand, with a hint of nonchalance. "Hmm, I know. Apart from my master, the Zou family on Fuyun Island are all no good. Especially that old man who's in power now, he's in cahoots with those old guys in the Medical Alliance, and a bunch of old bastards and little bastards in the capital."
Gu Nanyan's tone was contemptuous, yet inexplicably convincing.
Shen Beian swallowed hard, then picked up the small Ming Dynasty teapot and poured water into his mouth, almost choking.
Gu Nanyan quickly put down his teacup and gently patted Shen Bei'an's back, "Be careful, why are you in such a hurry to drink water?"
"It's just some trivial stuff. If you're interested, An'an, just listen to it as an amusing story."
Upon hearing this, Shen Bei'an's captivating peach blossom eyes instantly sparkled, like stars adorning the night sky, dazzling and mesmerizing.
"I want to hear it!" She tugged at Gu Nanyan's sleeve, somewhat anxiously. "Although it's a bit messy, you can pick some simpler parts to talk about."
These families are too complicated; he doesn't want to use his brain, but he still wants to know all this gossip.
Just like when he read "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and "The Borgias," the messy names and characters gave him a headache, but they were really good!
"Now, it's time for dinner." Gu Nanyan didn't mention those things directly. He gently tapped the pear wood table and tilted his head slightly to look at Shen Bei'an.
The greenhouse also has a timer, similar to an ancient sundial. Shen Beian glanced at it and saw that it was almost six o'clock.
"Let's go, let's go, we can eat and talk!" Shen Bei'an stood up, holding flowers in one hand and Gu Nan'an's hand in the other, beaming with joy.
There's no such thing as not speaking while eating or sleeping at Biluo Xiaozhu.
“An’an should know that the Gu family has always maintained a neutral stance in the capital,” Gu Nan’an said, and after dinner, he went to a tatami room with Shen Beian.
Upon opening the door, a variety of dolls came into view, and Shen Beian unceremoniously pounced into the arms of an oversized Night God.
It's impossible for Gu Nanyan to say that he's not jealous at all, but he gradually got used to it.
Shen Beian rubbed against Ye Shen's cheek and hummed softly.
This is no secret in the empire.
The Gu family has never participated in any disputes.
"The Shen family, the Fu family, the Luo family, and other families are in one faction, and they are close to the Hua family." Gu Nanyan also picked up a cushion and placed it behind him, adopting a lazy and relaxed posture.
Shen Bei'an rolled over and landed in Gu Nan'an's arms. "Hmm, and then?"
The Hua family is the family that the person in question belongs to.
“The He family and the Qin family are another faction.” Gu Nanyan raised his hand and gently rubbed Shen Bei’an’s temples as he slowly explained, “Originally, the two factions were in balance, but some people wanted to break that balance.”
"Someone approached the Lu family, and because of Lu Er, the Lu family has been leaning towards the Shen family in recent years. Someone was unwilling to accept this and tried to take advantage of the situation by getting Lu Er imprisoned. But he never considered that Lu Er was not some spoiled brat."
If Lu Er hadn't been unwilling to compete with Lu Yi for anything, and if Lu Er hadn't been more interested in tea, it's hard to say who would be the young master of the Lu family right now.
