Chapter 9 Male fox spirit steals away someone else's boyfriend

The afternoon sun lazily streamed through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows. In the library, Lin Mianmian held a pen with her slender fingers, intently organizing her class notes.

She frowned slightly, her slender 165cm figure in the warm light resembling a quietly growing little white flower, exuding a fragile purity.

Only the sound of turning pages and whispers remained in the library.

A figure stopped beside her desk. Lin Mianmian subconsciously looked up and met a pair of smiling, seemingly gentle eyes—it was Bai Xiulin.

"Mianmian, what a coincidence?" Bai Xiulin's voice was deep and pleasant, with a relaxing magnetism.

His 187cm height is imposing, yet it is tempered by his deliberately restrained gentle demeanor.

He naturally pulled out the chair opposite Lin Mianmian and sat down, his movements fluid, as if it were truly a chance encounter.

Lin Mianmian was a little surprised, then smiled politely, "You're here to study too?" She knew that Bai Xiulin was Xie Lin's good friend. Although they had broken up, she still felt a little awkward in front of him.

"Yes," he said gently, placing the coffee on the table. "Less sugar."

Lin Mianmian: "Thank you." Bai Xiulin sat down next to her. "Are you reviewing?" he asked gently.

"Okay," Lin Mianmian nodded. "If there's anything you don't understand or need, you can ask me."

"Okay," Lin Mianmian agreed.

"Don't push yourself too hard, your health is important."

As Bai Xiulin spoke, he naturally reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

His fingers were long and clean, his movements as gentle as a feather brushing against the skin, yet they carried an undeniable aggressiveness.

"Your hair is all messed up," he explained matter-of-factly, his smile widening.

Mianmian stiffened slightly, withdrawing her hand like a startled animal: "Thank you." Her voice was even lower.

Bai Xiulin leaned forward, picked up her phone from the table, and turned the screen towards her. His tone was familiar and affectionate: "Mianmian, want to unlock it? I just saw a picture that I think would be perfect as your phone wallpaper. I'll send it to you."

This action brought him closer to her, to the point where they could almost feel each other's breath.

The white fox spirit did it on purpose.

After spending some time helping Lin Mianmian study, Bai Xiulin left and, sitting in his Bentley, posted on his alternate WeChat Moments:

Text: The gluttonous little white rabbit [rabbit]

Photo caption: A side profile of Lin Mianmian studying diligently (the reflection of her wrist is deliberately preserved at a clever angle, as if she has a close companion by her side).

Permissions: Visible only to Xie Lin

Xie Lin was sprawled on the sofa in the villa, scrolling through his phone, while his Samoyed, "Marshal," dozed off at his feet. When that post popped up on his WeChat Moments, his pupils constricted.

The ambiguity of good copywriting: "Little White Rabbit" is his exclusive nickname for Mianmian!

A glaringly familiar wrist: that hand with its distinct knuckles in the reflection looks so familiar! Who the hell is it?!

"Damn it!" The phone was slammed onto the carpet, and the Samoyed jumped in fright. His eyes bloodshot, he grabbed the collar: "You motherfucker, you've got another man?!"

The veins on his fingertips bulged from the effort, and the image of Lin Mianmian's soft and sweet face flashed through his mind.

Enraged, he dialed Bai Xiulin's number, his voice hoarse: "Lin, help me find out who the other man is with Mianmian!"

The man on the other end of the phone loosened his tie, leaned back in his chair, his expression cold and stern, and replied casually, "Okay, Ah Lin, I'll definitely find out for you."

Three days later, Xie Lin was dragged by Liang Cheng to play ball to relax.

During halftime, the young master of the Liang family wiped his sweat and teased, "Young Master Lin has been quite free lately? Running to the College of Arts every day, could it be that you've set your sights on Mianmian's best friend?"

Xie Lin froze, his hand still holding the water bottle. "What's he doing at the Faculty of Arts?"

"Just delivering lecture notes to some girl! By the way, isn't your ex-girlfriend studying at the library lately?" Liang Shao asked bluntly.

"Could the notebook he gave me be for Mianmian?" Liang Cheng wondered.

"Definitely not, how could a good brother steal someone else's partner?"

"Mianmian studying? No, I have to go check on her. I don't want her to exhaust herself with that silly energy."

Lin Mianmian was intently studying materials in a corner of the library, her brows furrowed, occasionally rubbing her sore eyes.

Xie Lin had somehow taken up a seat diagonally behind her, wearing a baseball cap and a mask, revealing only his beautiful peach blossom eyes.

He didn't disturb her, but just watched silently, his gaze focused to the point of being almost greedy.

Seeing that her water glass was empty, while the girl went to the restroom, he quietly got up to refill it with warm water and gently placed it back on the corner of her table.

Lin Mianmian noticed him and looked up at him. He immediately lowered his head like a startled rabbit, pretending to read and study.

The last time the two of them were in the library, the feeling wasn't cold; it was extremely ambiguous.

Last time: Xie Lin leaned lazily against the bookshelf in the library, an unlit cigarette between his fingers, his gaze fixed on Lin Mianmian in the corner.

The little girl wore a cream-colored knitted sweater, her hair loosely tucked behind her ears, looking like a little white rabbit who had wandered into a wolf's den, looking down at her book without any guard.

He smirked and strode over.

"The Domineering CEO Falls in Love with Me?" He suddenly reached out and snatched the book from her hand, his voice low and chuckled, "Studying this, are you trying to fall in love with me?"

Lin Mianmian looked up and met his teasing gaze. He was wearing a black shirt with the top two buttons undone, revealing sharp collarbones and a silver necklace around his Adam's apple that gleamed coldly under the light.

He leaned slightly forward, bracing his arms on the back of her chair, trapping her between the bookshelf and himself, his warm breath brushing against her earlobe.

"Give it back to me." She reached out to grab it, but as soon as her fingertips touched the spine of the book, he grabbed her wrist.

"What's the rush?" he chuckled, gently stroking the inside of her wrist with his fingertips.

"The book says that physical contact can speed up your heartbeat. Is your heart beating fast right now?"

Lin Mianmian's ears burned, and she tried to pull her hand away, but he held it even tighter. Xie Lin looked down at her, his gaze sliding from her flushed cheeks to her slightly parted lips.

His voice lowered even further: "Not going to speak? Then I'll test it myself?"

He suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms. Lin Mianmian was caught off guard and almost pressed her whole body against his chest.

Through the thin fabric of his clothes, she could clearly feel his burning body temperature and firm muscles.

"Xie Lin!" she cried out in a panic, her voice barely audible.

"Hmm?" he responded lazily, while raising his other hand and gently lifting her chin with his fingertips. "Speaking so sweetly, do you want me to kiss you?"

Lin Mianmian's breath hitched, her eyelashes trembled violently. Xie Lin stared at her for two seconds, then suddenly chuckled and brushed his thumb against her lower lip: "Fine, I'll let you off the hook for today."

He released her hand, but just as she breathed a sigh of relief, he leaned down and whispered in her ear,

“If I catch you reading this kind of book again next time,” he paused, his voice both roguish and wicked, “I’ll personally teach you how to put it into practice.”
