Chapter 13
Yao Yingmo received unexpected news.
The radio crew found Li Yicheng and wanted her contact information to communicate with her in person.
She has never met such a partner.
Regardless of whether she will change her mind after communication, at least she admires this attitude.
After some thought, she agreed to let Li Yicheng share her personal email address. As for her social media and phone number, she wanted to keep it private, and the fewer people who knew, the better.
After giving it away, she didn't take it too seriously and simply turned off her phone and disconnected the internet on her laptop.
The book she is currently serializing is about to reach its climax. She must concentrate fully when typing, and no external affairs can disturb her.
Only after finishing the coding and uploading it to the author's backend did she restore all means of communication with the outside world.
As soon as the phone was turned on, messages kept popping up on the screen, and the red dot on the unread email notification in the upper right corner of the laptop web page kept lighting up.
Yao Yingmo turned a blind eye and went straight to the author's backend to upload today's update.
The message on the phone was from Li Yicheng, urging her to check her email.
"Orange: The Starry Sky team said they sent you an email."
"Orange: You haven't clicked on it yet. They're worried it might be spam, so I'm here to remind you."
"Orange: I told them not to reply to messages while you're writing, so they should wait."
"Orange: Remember to check your email after you connect to the Internet."
And then this one, posted just a few seconds ago:
"Orange: I saw you updated."
"Orange: Now that you're online, check your mailbox."
Yao Yingmo replied OK.
Because Li Yicheng is his agent, there are not many letters in Yao Yingmo's personal mailbox. Most of them are advertising letters sent by various websites to their members.
She would open her mailbox from time to time and delete all the spam emails at once.
There was only one particularly strange email today, with "Hu Guang" written in the sender column.
Before opening her mailbox, she thought it would be an email from the Mantianxing Radio Drama Team or Xinren Studio, but she didn't expect it to be an email from Hu Guang himself, the leader of this adaptation.
When he clicked on it, he saw an email that was much longer than Yao Yingmo had expected.
Yao Yingmo scrolled the mouse wheel to the bottom five times before he saw the signature at the bottom of the email.
She jumped out and confirmed again the title and sender of the email she had just opened.
It was indeed an email from Hu Guang, not the kind of email from a little fan who secretly searched her email box and wanted her to help look at a manuscript.
At first, she used her own email address to contact for jobs, but ended up receiving a lot of strange emails. Sometimes they expressed admiration, and sometimes they sent her their own works and hoped she would recommend them.
At first, Yao Yingmo would carefully reply to each one, but as the number of messages increased, she felt overwhelmed and annoyed, and eventually she just ignored them all. But the sheer volume of messages still bothered her.
Later, when she went to college, Li Yicheng began to take care of her mailbox, taking over the manual mailbox. She took the opportunity to open a new mailbox for personal use.
Such incidents have indeed decreased, but they have not completely disappeared. After all, there are always people with extraordinary powers in this world.
At first glance, the letter written by Hu Guang looks very similar to that type of email.
If Orange hadn't specifically reminded her, she would have deleted it as spam without even reading it carefully.
Yao Yingmo pinched his brows, opened the web window to the maximum, and started reading emails.
The words are sincere, well-organized, and full of emotion.
But it's long-winded.
Through this email, Yao Yingmo not only learned about the work content that the crew wanted her to join, but also learned about Hu Guang's love for "Starry Sky" and the influence he hoped to create through this radio drama.
Hu Guang was able to grasp the key points and also grasp her psychology.
Although she knew a lot of details that she didn't need to know, she had to admit that she was impressed.
As the original author, she felt extremely respected from this email, and also felt the sincerity and strength of the crew.
They even planned how to coordinate with her serialization schedule.
Yao Yingmo couldn't think of a suitable reason to refuse, so it seemed he had no choice but to agree.
After thinking about it, she carefully considered the words, wrote back to express her agreement, and sent a copy to Li Yicheng.
The action on the other end was very quick. Within ten minutes, they sent a QR code via the crew's official email address, inviting Yao Yingmo to join the chat group.
Yao Yingmo scans the QR code to join.
After joining, messages in the group spread very quickly, all of them were greetings and self-introductions.
Yao Yingmo was dazzled and closed his eyes, feeling the urge to regret immediately.
He took a deep breath and let out a slow sigh.
Yao Yingmo picked up his phone and started typing.
"Zhao He: Hello everyone, I am Zhao He."
After sending the message, she put down her phone, thinking out of sight, out of mind.
She decided to wait a little longer, until everyone in the group had finished having fun and the level of activity returned to normal, and then slowly look back at the messages.
Otherwise her eyes couldn't keep up.
The first priority now is to prepare dinner.
On the other side, in the Xinren Studio, everyone was staring at their phones.
"Teacher Zhaohe said hello to everyone and then stopped talking."
"Yes, I was thinking of asking Mr. Zhaohe what to write in his next book."
"I wanted to ask Ms. Zhaohe when she would hold a book signing, but she hasn't done so yet."
"No, you can't ask that. Mr. Zhaohe never holds autograph sessions. It's obvious that he doesn't want to show his face."
"Did we make too much noise and scare Teacher Zhaohe?"
The whole team was so loud and excited that the volume nearly blew the roof off the studio.
Luo Jiayou glanced towards the main seat.
Shi Xuze was not looking at his phone. Instead, he was looking at the clock on the wall. It was unclear what he was thinking about, and he was obviously absent-minded.
Luo Jiayou withdrew his gaze and clapped his hands.
The scene became quiet and everyone's attention focused on him.
Luo Jiayou: "Since you all know you're being too noisy, just take back those messy questions. Your teacher Huguang finally managed to get Teacher Zhaohe here, don't let him be scared away by you on the first day."
Everyone responded in agreement.
Luo Jiayou looked at Shi Xuze and nudged his arm twice with his elbow. "We're in a meeting. Where were you daydreaming? Say something."
Sitting up straight, Shi Xuze coughed lightly, ignoring the teasing glances from those around him, and said seriously, "Teacher Zhaohe must be busy. Her agent said that she will block messages when she is writing."
Except for Luo Jiayou, no one noticed that Shi Xuze was not in good shape.
After hearing this, they suddenly understood.
Thinking of the reason why they were rejected in the beginning, Shi Xuze's gaze drifted towards the clock again.
Luo Jiayou decided to be more considerate, "In that case, why don't we just go home today?"
Shi Xuze nodded, "Everyone, please go home today. If you have anything you need to discuss with Teacher Zhaohe, please post it in the group tomorrow morning."
Cheers suddenly broke out.
When the atmosphere quieted down, Shi Xuze added, "Questions should be screened. Only ask the most critical and important questions. Don't ask Teacher Zhaohe all sorts of random questions, and don't ask about things that have nothing to do with Mantianxing."
"Okay, everyone, get off work."
At Luo Jiayou's command, team members left one after another.
Shi Xuze also started to clean up.
Luo Jiayou was still sitting in his seat, looking through the materials, and making notes from time to time with the pen in his hand.
Glancing at Shi Xuze's movements, he asked lightly, "Are you really going back so early today?"
Shi Xuze put on his backpack, stood up, and pushed the chair back to its original position. "Well, I want to go to the mall to pick out something for Miss Yao."
"I felt really embarrassed to have eaten so much of Ms. Yao's food. I was also worried that Ms. Yao would think I was taking advantage of her. So I thought, should I buy Ms. Yao a gift to express my gratitude?"
Luo Jiayou still didn't raise his head. "Have you decided what to buy?"
"I'm not sure, but I think shopping malls are a good place to buy quality gifts, which are more appropriate. Plus, I think shopping malls can give me some inspiration. If I really can't think of anything, I can always ask the store clerk."
The pen fell from Luo Jiayou's hand. He bent down to pick it up and said, "I'll go with you."
Shi Xuze's first reaction was to refuse, "You are still busy, I can go by myself."
Luo Jiayou rolled his eyes and said, "No, I'm afraid you'll get ripped off. And you have to wear a mask, so you'd better talk less to the store clerks."
Shi Xuze couldn't resist Luo Jiayou's insistence, so he had to stand by and wait for him to pack up. The two of them went to the mall together.
People come and go in the mall, one person after another with clear goals passes by, and people who just come to stroll around also have a clear route.
Shi Xuze and Luo Jiayou, two grown men, stood in the corner of the mall entrance, without any goals or direction.
There was an air-conditioning vent above their heads, and cool breezes blew on the two of them, blowing their obedient hair from time to time.
Luo Jiayou shuddered, stamped his feet, and urged, "You've been staring at this floor guide for more than ten minutes, and you still haven't decided which floor you want to go to? I'm freezing to death."
Shi Xuze tilted his head slightly and studied the floor plan as carefully as he would a script, reading every word carefully.
He's an expert at reading scripts, but mall floor plans...
To be honest, he couldn't see the point.
After looking back and forth several times, he still couldn't decide which floor he should go to in order to buy a suitable gift for Yao Yingmo.
In response to Luo Jiayou's urging, he could only say awkwardly, "Not yet. There are so many options to choose from, I really don't know what to buy her. They say you should give gifts that suit the person's preferences, but I don't know her well enough to know what she likes, so it's hard to decide. Let me think about it for a while. Just a little while, I promise."
Luo Jiayou: “…”
Luckily he followed us, otherwise he would still be standing at the mall entrance studying the floor map when the mall closed.
Out of courtesy and also to avoid being mistaken for a criminal with ulterior motives, Shi Xuze took off the hood of his hoodie as soon as he stepped into the mall, revealing his smooth black hair.
Luo Jiayou was suspicious, always feeling that some girls paused strangely when passing by them.
There is a risk of being recognized.
Besides, wasting time stuck in front of the floor map is not a wise move.
Luo Jiayou took the initiative to suggest: "If you really have no ideas, just go up one floor at a time. Maybe you will get some inspiration when you see the products."
"Okay." Shi Xuze finally moved his feet. "My mom always says that when she goes shopping. I see her shopping list is always blank, and she always comes home with more than a dozen bags. You're right, seeing it will give me inspiration. Let's go."
Luo Jiayou: “…”
