Chapter 5

Chapter 5

"Guangguang, are you still there?"

The door was pushed open with great force, hitting the wall with a loud noise.

Shi Xuze shuddered all over and slowly turned around.

"Great, you're still here. Help!"

Luo Jiayou walked over hurriedly with a stack of freshly printed scripts.

"That drama you recorded two months ago has one episode that hasn't passed review. I wanted to try again, but the trailer for it was already posted on Weibo, so I can't afford to waste time with the review process. I've just made an emergency revision to the plot, but I have to finish re-recording this episode as soon as possible, otherwise it'll be too late for later."

"Since you are still here, finish recording and then go back."

Shi Xuze blinked and wasted two or three seconds before answering: "Oh, okay."

His reaction speed was slow and his sentences were concise, unlike the usual Shi Xuze.

There is a problem.

The script was thrown on the table.

Luo Jiayou moved closer and closer, until his entire face was almost touching Shi Xuze's face.

The face that was so familiar that it was annoying enlarged in front of him. Shi Xuze subconsciously leaned back, opened his hands, blocked his eyes, and pushed forward.

Pushing people back to a comfortable social distance, Shi Xuze tilted his head to breathe in the fresh air, "What are you doing?"

Luo Jiayou pinched his chin and scanned Shi Xuze from head to toe.

Before Shi Xuze lost his patience, he finished his observation, retracted his gaze, and concluded, "Guangguang, there's something wrong with you."

"I told you not to call me Guangguang!" Shi Xuze exploded. "The nickname Guangguang really sounds like a fool."

"Okay, Guang, brother." Luo Jiayou sighed regretfully, "Were you daydreaming just now?"

Shi Xuze nodded, then shook his head.

Actually, he wasn't in a daze, he was...

"I'm thinking about something." I'm thinking about Uncle Mu. I'm thinking about Miss Yao.

"What could possibly have made you look like you've lost your soul?" Luo Jiayou pulled out the chair next to Shi Xuze, sat down, and took out a notebook and pen from his pocket. He straightened his body and pretended to listen attentively. "Share with your good brother what happened."

Shi Xuze's eyebrows jumped when he saw the familiar little notebook. He was very familiar with this little notebook. It was Luo Jiayou's inspiration notebook, the gossip distribution center in the studio, and a collection of famous social death scenes.

Almost a reflex action—

Shi Xuze stretched out his right hand and quickly took the small notebook from Luo Jiayou's hand.

This little notebook is so evil that it must be confiscated.

"Let me take a note." Luo Jiayou tried to snatch back his notebook. "We creators rely on accumulating inspiration this way."

"No." He stuffed the notebook into his arm, held it tightly, and was determined not to return it.

Luo Jiayou reached into Shi Xuze's arms and said, "Give it back to me."

"Okay, I'll give you the notebook, but I won't talk anymore." Luo Jiayou still managed to grab the notebook. Shi Xuze leaned sideways, making it more difficult for Luo Jiayou to pull it out. "It's either me or the notebook. It's either me or the notebook. You have to choose between the two. Do you want to listen to me, or do you want your notebook?"

As to which is more important, the notebook that records the story or the story itself, Luo Jiayou’s answer is very clear.

He loosened his hand and gave up fighting with Shi Xuze for his notebook. "Okay, okay, okay, I won't write it anymore, okay?"

He went home and wrote more.

"Just feel free to talk to me and let me be your best friend."

If he hadn't added that last sentence, it would have felt more sincere. Shi Xuze rolled his eyes, "You'd better be."

"Seriously, I'll listen to you carefully, I promise. And we have work to do later, you can't stay in this distracted state forever."

Shi Xuze curled his lips. "Am I the kind of person who would let my emotions affect my work? Don't question my professionalism."

Luo Jiayou: "I know you won't, but if you go out in this state, everyone in the studio will be worried about you. After all, if someone who is always cheerful suddenly stops smiling, it must be a big deal."

Shi Xuze paused, "It's not a big deal."

There are only two things on my mind.

Although he was immersed in his thoughts, if he really said it out loud, it would sound like whining.

Originally, he could just process these emotions on his own, but after being caught by Luo Jiayou, he couldn't feel at ease unless he said something.

Although he intuitively felt that something was wrong about Uncle Mu, it was just a guess, a fleeting feeling caused by his back.

He couldn't be sure if it was just an illusion, or even just his own sudden realization of how quickly time flies.

After all, Uncle Mu is the soul of Xinren Studio. If he expresses his uncertain thoughts, it may cause panic and make people in the studio uneasy.

Maybe it would be better not to say it.

He would find another time to invite Luo Jiayou to visit Uncle Mu's house. Now was a better time to bring up another matter.

Even though he knew that if he told it, Luo Jiayou would probably laugh at him.

After thinking about it, he simply took it out of context and picked the most sensational part as the beginning of the story.

"My hand was held." Shi Xuze said.

"You were held hands?"

Luo Jiayou's voice rose an octave and he almost jumped out of his chair.

He no longer cared about his little notebook.

As a popular voice actor, Shi Xuze inevitably has some fanatical fans. In addition, his good looks are a plus. His safety issues have caused headaches for Chang Jie and others more than once.

Luo Jiayou looked nervous. "You met a stalker? You're so well-dressed every day, and you still met a stalker? How did you get caught? Then you'll have to move again, right? Do you want to move to my house for a while? Or do you want to stay in the studio?"

Exposing your address and activity trajectory is a very dangerous thing.

The current address is no longer suitable for living.

Shi Xuze hissed and rubbed his ears with his index finger to relieve the discomfort of being bombarded with Luo Jiayou's rapid-fire questions.

He said that when he was held hands, he didn't think much about it at all. It was only when Luo Jiayou mentioned it that he realized how misleading the statement of being held hands was.

He quickly explained: "He's not an illegitimate child. He's my neighbor."

"Is your neighbor your illegitimate child?"

Luo Jiayou was shocked. Isn't this even more dangerous?

Shi Xuze frowned. How could this misunderstanding become even bigger? Was he really that bad at speaking?

"It's not what you think. This has nothing to do with illegitimate children."

Luo Jiayou: "Why else would I hold your hand? Could it be that I can still see your beauty from under your hoodie and black mask?"

"I..." Because he didn't run fast enough, he was dragged away.

Luo Jiayou noticed Shi Xuze's hesitation and said with a stern face, "Don't keep silent. This is a matter of your safety."

"She's really not a sham. Miss Yao is a very imposing and beautiful sister. She has a very strong aura. I feel like she's a senior executive in the company. When she speaks, I want to obey her obediently. Well, you know, just like Sister Chang. Although I don't know why she seems to be at home all the time, maybe she's working remotely or something. Anyway, I don't think she's someone who follows the ACG world, so it's impossible for her to know who I am. She's definitely not a sham."

Luo Jiayou: "Then what's going on?"

Being held hands for no apparent reason is definitely a problem.

He didn't know who this Miss Yao was, but he could tell from Shi Xuze's attitude that the one with the problem was Shi Xuze.

"Wasn't there a fire in my house today? When I was running for my life, Miss Yao pulled me downstairs by the hand. And then I..."

Shi Xuze spoke more and more quietly.

Luo Jiayou: “…”

Shi Xuze: "Say something, don't embarrass me."

Luo Jiayou carefully chose his words, trying to make them sound as tactful as possible. "So the plot is, someone kindly saved your life, and you want to marry them?"

"I didn't. That's something that only happens in the script. I was just shocked at the time and I kept thinking about the scene."

Luo Jiayou: "That's because I was moved by the hero saving the beauty."

"No."

"You have."

"I don't."

"People are holding your hand just because they're afraid you'll die!"

Luo Jiayou grabbed Shi Xuze's shoulders and shook him, trying to shake the water out of his head.

"I know, but..."

"..." Luo Jiayou rolled his eyes, "Have you heard of the suspension bridge effect?"

Shi Xuze nodded. "I know. It's the psychological term that says humans mistake excitement for heartbeat."

"Yes, so you are just scared by the fire." Luo Jiayou didn't want to talk about this unpleasant topic anymore. "Okay, case closed."

"oh."

"I shouldn't have cared about you." Luo Jiayou said, "I thought you really had something serious."

Shi Xuze touched his head and chuckled twice.

Luo Jiayou sighed inwardly.

He was always so heartless that they didn't know how to tell him the truth about some things.

Luo Jiayou lowered his eyes and brought up another topic, "Let's get down to business. Teacher Zhaohe has agreed. I'll follow up on the contract, and you can start planning first."

Shi Xuze's eyes lit up, "That's great!"

Getting a reply within a day proves that both parties are very willing to cooperate, which is definitely a good start.

“This radio drama is bound to have great results.”

"I'm also very optimistic about this radio drama." Luo Jiayou glanced at the clock on the wall, stopped talking, picked up the stack of scripts, and stood up. "But you have to record this audio first, then go home and sleep. We can deal with the rest of the work tomorrow."

"Okay." Shi Xuze responded, then stood up obediently.

He generally didn't refuse work assignments from his studio colleagues. He just had a slight issue with the time Luo Jiayou mentioned, "Are you sure it's tomorrow?"

The clock hands had already passed twelve.

It's already tomorrow.

"...this afternoon." Luo Jiayou corrected his words, "So why don't you get into the recording studio quickly? If you delay any longer, you won't be able to sleep. We'll record until tomorrow."

"No, no, I'll be there right away."

Working overnight is okay, but working over the day is a bit difficult, and working over two days is really fatal.
