Chapter 9

Chapter 9

It's bread.

Not food.

Even the bread looked familiar.

Shi Xuze suddenly felt annoyed. He didn't think straight for a while and told a lie. He acted too much and ended up making things worse.

I want to cry.

He held a piece of bread in one hand and candy in the other, his eyes drooping and lifeless.

Yao Yingmo thought that he was too hungry and his brain reaction speed had slowed down significantly, so he told it again.

"You have low blood sugar. You need to take some candy immediately. But you still need to eat your meal. You were too slow to order takeout. I'll give you this bread to fill your stomach first."

After he finished speaking, Yao Yingmo remembered this person's social anxiety.

Could it be that he was unwilling to take off his mask, so he neither opened the candy wrapper nor picked up the bread, but just stood there in a daze?

The more Yao Yingmo thought about it, the more he felt that he had discovered the truth.

She sighed, "Go home and eat. Where's your house key?"

His house key?

Shi Xuze was stunned for two seconds before putting the candy on the plate and taking out the key from his pocket with one free hand.

I can still walk into the house, it's not serious.

Yao Yingmo was very worried, so he stayed where he was and watched Shi Xuze walk in, and called out to him before he closed the door.

"If you still feel uncomfortable, you can come and ring my doorbell. Don't fall home alone."

Shi Xuze understood everything clearly, and only came to his senses when he took a bite of the warm bread.

Miss Yao is really a super nice person!

She didn't even scold him!

If it was Sister Chang, he would definitely still be being scolded now.

Of course there was food, but we had to eat it while being scolded. No matter how delicious the food was, it didn't taste good.

The bread looked familiar and it was not an illusion. It was indeed a familiar taste, the taste from the bakery around the corner.

Sometimes when he comes back from the studio, he will buy two loaves of bread to fill his stomach, but he usually eats the whole loaf instead of cutting it into slices like this.

He remembered that the bakery didn't offer that service.

Maybe it was a psychological effect, but he felt the bread tasted better than usual.

It's loose, soft, and moist. After eating a piece of it, my throat feels much better.

After finishing the bread, he picked up the candy, tore open the wrapper, put it in his mouth, pushed the candy to the cheek with the tip of his tongue, and gently bit and ground it with his molars.

A hint of sweetness seeped out and slowly flowed to the limbs, sweeping away the distortion caused by the continuous rotation, and the feet felt much more solid.

I’m in a really good mood. I’m sure I’ll have a sweet dream after I catch up on some sleep.

Shi Xuze slept for a whole day and woke up the next day, Saturday at noon.

There was no recording work this weekend, so he didn't have to rush to the studio, but he made an appointment with Luo Jiayou to come to his house to discuss the script.

It’s just the two of us working together, so it’s more comfortable to stay at home.

But before anyone comes, he has to go out to find food.

A fragrant aroma came from next door, like the smell of kimchi. It was fragrant, sour and spicy.

Saliva appears in the mouth.

He swallowed hard. It was someone else's lunch, and he couldn't be greedy. That would be too rude.

He also can't eat kimchi because it's too spicy and hurts his throat.

I'll go out and buy a bowl of vinegar noodles later. They're all sour and will satisfy your craving.

Shi Xuze pulled up his hat, put on a mask, and opened the door fully armed. He was surprised to find a familiar light gray bag on the door handle.

It’s Miss Yao’s family’s meal!

Shi Xuze pressed his head and recalled carefully, but he had no recollection of hearing the doorbell in his sleep.

Could it be that he was really too tired and fell into a deep sleep?

Shi Xuze picked up the bag and carefully tested it with the back of his hand. It was still warm.

It should have been put up not long ago.

Unfortunately, he can't eat kimchi.

He could only appreciate Miss Yao's kindness, but he still had to go downstairs to buy the meal.

To his surprise, there was no kimchi in the lunch box.

Miss Yao knows that he can't eat kimchi?

The doubt flashed through his mind, but was immediately overturned by himself.

There are many people in the world who cannot eat spicy food, and Miss Yao has no way of knowing whether he can eat spicy food. She must just be considerate.

Miss Yao is really a good person!

.

"It's delivered."

When Zhou Yu walked in, Yao Yingmo had just brought the last dish to the table.

"Thank you, Xiaoyu."

She smiled and asked, "Have you seen Mr. Shi?"

"No."

Zhou Yu's answer was brief and cold, exactly the same as his usual speaking style.

Yao Yingmo didn't think much about it.

Her neighbor's schedule was already chaotic, and today was the weekend, so it was normal that she hadn't gotten up yet at noon.

Yao Yingmo thought about checking again after dinner. If it was still hanging on the door, he would take it back to prevent it from spoiling if it was left unrefrigerated for too long.

She fed her neighbor, not intending to send him to the hospital.

"Go wash your hands and get ready for dinner." Yao Yingmo said.

Zhou Yu obediently washed his hands and took a seat.

After sitting down, he held his bowl and focused on the plate of stir-fried vegetables closest to him, but he didn't even pick up his favorite dishes next to him.

Yao Yingmo calmly changed the position of the plates, but Zhou Yu still only took the dish in front of him.

He might do this when eating out because of social anxiety, but at home, he could only say that he did it on purpose to show her.

He wanted to let her know that he was in a bad mood, throwing a tantrum, and looking for attention.

Is it because he was not notified immediately after the fire?

Probably not. He was in a pretty good mood when he first walked in today, not in a bad mood from the start.

That's what happened at home.

What is it?

Yao Yingmo believed that she was just concentrating on cooking in the kitchen from beginning to end. After thinking about it, she really couldn't think of anything that made Zhou Yu angry.

In the end, she could only scoop up a spoonful of kimchi and braised pork and put it into Zhou Yu's bowl, and asked directly: "What made you so upset that you didn't even eat your favorite kimchi?"

Zhou Yu glanced at her without saying a word, but honestly used his chopsticks to pick up some kimchi from the bowl and put it into his mouth. The combination of sour and spicy taste softened his previously sullen face.

Seeing that his attitude had softened, Yao Yingmo asked again, "Who made you angry?"

Zhou Yu buried his head in the bowl again, refusing to look up, and said in a muffled voice: "You."

Yao Yingmo pointed at himself and asked, "Me?"

Did she do anything?

Zhou Yu finished most of the bowl of rice without waiting for Yao Yingmo's response. When he looked up, he saw a confused face.

His dissatisfaction was even stronger. “Why should I deliver food to my neighbors?”

Zhou Yu asked in a bad tone, but he regretted it as soon as he said it.

He shouldn't interfere with his sister's friendships, nor should he speak to her in such a tone.

But he felt that there must be something wrong with this neighbor, as he could trick his sister into bringing him food.

Zhou Yu always had a gloomy face, but Yao Yingmo could tell his mood from the subtle changes in his facial muscles, and naturally he could also see his rich psychological changes in just two or three seconds.

She immediately understood that Zhou Yu was jealous.

"He's a good neighbor," she replied. "He's a bit like you. I'll take better care of him."

"Not at all." Zhou Yu said unconvincedly, "I'm not picky about food."

He actually refused to eat his sister's homemade kimchi. He doesn't know what's good.

So this is what he's concerned about. He really is jealous.

When she packed Mr. Shi's lunch, she carefully selected the dishes because she didn't know his dietary restrictions, so she didn't include dishes that were generally disliked by the public.

Yao Yingmo smiled and said, "It's not that he's picky about food, it's just that I took the initiative to not give it to him."

Zhou Yu looked up, waiting for Yao Yingmo to explain.

Yao Yingmo: "He fainted from hunger yesterday. He can't eat anything spicy or indigestible."

Zhou Yu raised an eyebrow, "Fainted from hunger?"

Yao Yingmo nodded.

Zhou Yu poked the rice with his chopsticks, dissatisfaction written on his face, "You're bringing trouble home again."

He's trouble enough on his own.

"I've only picked you up." Yao Yingmo said.

She was willing to take care of Zhou Yu and truly regarded him as family, but he was too insecure and would make similar remarks from time to time.

So, as she had done every time before, she patiently reiterated to him, "I never thought you were a bother."

Zhou Yu pursed his lips and stared at the rice in the bowl: "I don't like him."

"Is this... like repels like? You haven't even seen it before."

Yao Yingmo laughed.

Zhou Yu snorted, expressing his protest with silence.

Yao Yingmo didn't say anything more. He picked up a piece of fish and gave it to him. "Eat it quickly."

The table was full of Zhou Yu's favorite dishes. Although he was acting awkward and refused to admit that he liked them, his hands did not lie. By the time Yao Yingmo finished half a bowl of rice, he had already finished half of the food and had to fill two servings of rice.

Yao Yingmo was very satisfied. He stood up and went to the kitchen to get an empty bowl to serve him soup. "Eat slowly, don't choke."

Zhou Yu put down his chopsticks and drank the soup, staring at Yao Yingmo who was eating slowly, wondering what he was thinking.

He didn't speak until he finished his soup: "Does he know you live alone?"

Yao Yingmo was stunned for two seconds before he realized what Zhou Yu meant.

As a woman, she should be cautious when living alone.

Mr. Shi has moved in a long time ago. If it weren't for the fire a few days ago, she would not have taken the initiative to contact him, especially when their outings did not match, the chance of interaction was even lower.

In modern society, this is a normal neighbor relationship.

But after these few contacts, she thought that Mr. Shi might not be someone she needed to be wary of.

Eyes don't lie. Yao Yingmo trusts his own judgment.

But she didn't intend to use this to convince Zhou Yu.

After all, to him, Mr. Shi was a complete stranger, someone he had never met before, so it was normal for him to be wary. Furthermore, since this man was being taken care of by her, Zhou Yu felt jealous and inevitably felt a bit hostile.

These will naturally disappear once he actually comes into contact with it.

There was no point in saying anything now; it would only arouse his rebelliousness. Besides, there was no guarantee that these two would ever have a chance to interact in the future, so any more explanations would only cause more trouble.

In order to reassure Zhou Yu, Yao Yingmo verbally assured him, "I'll be careful."

Zhou Yu continued to stare at her, the word "disbelief" written directly on his face. Yao Yingmo simply changed the subject and shifted the focus of the conversation to him.

"You should also be careful at school and tell me if you are bullied."

Zhou Yu lowered his eyes, "I won't be bullied."

Yao Yingmo remained silent.

Sometimes she couldn't tell whether Zhou Yu was being excluded or he was the only one who excluded others.

Fortunately, his roommates were all nice people. She had met them a few times and felt very relieved.

Moreover, Zhou Yu himself has excellent academic performance and the professors are very caring towards him.

Yao Yingmo thought about it and decided that she really didn't need to worry too much.

"Don't be too mean to others." She warned again.

"I didn't."

Yao Yingmo raised the corners of his lips, pushed the plate towards Zhou Yu, and filled himself with a bowl of soup.

"I'm full, you can finish the rest of the food."

"good."

Yao Yingmo sipped his soup and casually mentioned, "By the way, during the Qingming Festival, let's go back together."

Zhou Yu's chopsticks stopped picking up the food. The soup dripped onto the table, leaving a brown mark.

He took out a piece of paper and wiped it dry.

"good."
