Chapter 527 It’s All My Fault

Chapter 527 It's All My Fault

Late at night, the central hospital should be quiet.

The lights in the inpatient department were like tired stars, sparsely dotted at the end of the corridor.

The nurse on duty at the nurses' station was looking down at the medical records. The smell of disinfectant filled the empty hall, and even the ward corridor, which was bustling during the day, seemed a little cold and quiet.

It was not until 10:17 that the dedicated phone line in the dean's office suddenly rang sharply, like a needle suddenly piercing the tranquility.

Director Zhou Mingyuan had a major operation today. He had just returned to the lounge less than half an hour after the operation. He was still feeling very tired when he picked up the receiver, but after hearing what was said on the other end of the phone, he instantly woke up.

The call came from Xu's special assistant, and his tone was so urgent that he seemed to be chasing time. "President Zhou, there's an emergency at Neptune International. Miss Xu has lost a lot of blood and is in critical condition. President Han of the Beijing Han Group is taking her there by helicopter, and President Xu will be here soon. Please be sure to gather the best obstetricians and gynecologists, and have the blood bank staff on standby!"

Zhou Mingyuan's heart sank suddenly.

Miss Xu?

He had heard of the Han Group in Beijing.

The dean had no time to think about the fact that the Han family's helmsman and the young master of the Xu Group could use a helicopter for escort, and that Xu's special assistant could make the call personally...

He didn't even bother putting on his coat. He stepped barefoot on the cold floor as he dialed the intercom, his fingertips trembling slightly from his haste. "Is he on duty? Immediately notify the director and deputy director of obstetrics and gynecology, as well as Professor Li from the cardiac surgery department, and have them gather at the rooftop helipad within five minutes! Also, have the blood bank prepare AB blood immediately, and have the head nurse be on standby at the helipad with a first aid kit!"

The chief on-duty officer on the other end of the phone was stunned for a moment, then responded "Yes".

After Zhou Mingyuan hung up the phone, he realized that he was only wearing a thin piece of clothing. The cold wind outside the window blew snow particles against the glass, making a crackling sound.

He hastily put on his white coat, grabbed his car keys and rushed out. In the corridor, he met the vice president who was running towards him in surgical gown. The two looked at each other and saw seriousness in each other's eyes.

Five minutes later, the helipad on the top floor of the Central Hospital was as bright as day.

The beam of the searchlight pierced the night sky and swept across the snow-covered ground. Several security guards wearing orange reflective vests were standing on the edge with batons in their hands. The cold wind made their hats rustle.

The head nurse and three nurses pushed an emergency bed and stood at the designated position. The bed was covered with a white sheet and was equipped with an ECG monitor, a defibrillator, and an infusion stand. The nurses' fingers were red from the cold, but they still checked the equipment quickly to make sure everything was safe.

Director Zhang of the obstetrics and gynecology department is a female doctor in her fifties. She had just rushed over from home and her hair was still a little messy, but she had already changed into surgical clothes and was whispering with Professor Li of the cardiac surgery department.

Professor Li pushed his glasses up, his brow furrowed. "I heard there was abdominal pain and coma? We can't rule out the possibility of threatened miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy. Everyone, be prepared and don't panic."

Director Zhang nodded, took the gloves from the nurse, and pinched a few wrinkles on the rubber gloves with his fingertips.

At this moment, the roar of a helicopter came from the distance, like a huge steel beast breaking through the clouds.

The searchlight beam immediately locked onto the black spot that was getting closer and closer. The hospital security waved their batons and blew their whistles.

The helicopter circled twice, and the huge airflow blew the snow all over the sky, even the searchlight beam was shaken.

The moment the hatch opened, Han Xi's figure appeared at the door first.

He was still wearing the black windbreaker, the hem of which was stained with snow and dark red blood. The zipper was pulled up high, and his exposed jaw was soaked with sweat and blood.

It formed a sharp contrast with his slightly pale face.

He held Fang Li tightly in his arms, veins bulging in his arms from the force, and his knuckles turned white as if they were digging into her flesh.

"quick!"

Han Xi's voice was hoarse as if it had been rubbed with sandpaper. His arms, which were holding Fang Li, were trembling slightly, but he did not dare to relax at all.

The nurses immediately ran over pushing the emergency bed, and Han Xi carefully placed Fang Li on the bed, his movements as gentle as if he was protecting a fragile treasure.

But when his fingertips touched her cold skin, he couldn't help but tremble.

Fang Li's eyes were tightly closed, with unmelted snow still hanging on her long eyelashes.

Her face was as white as a piece of paper, her lips were bloodless, and although the dangerous wound on her neck had been simply bandaged on the plane, the blood was still around the wound, staining her snow-white collar red, which was glaring and frightening.

Her breathing was so weak that it was almost invisible, her chest rose and fell like a candle in the wind, and her hand on her lower abdomen was curled up, with blue fingertips.

"Blood pressure 60/40, heart rate 120!"

The nurse quickly put on the electrodes, the ECG monitor issued a sharp alarm, and the red waveform jumped wildly on the screen.

The head nurse immediately picked up the infusion needle, aimed it at the back of Fang Li's hand and was about to insert it, but Han Xi held her hand down.

"Be gentle."

His voice was low and husky, almost pleading.

The head nurse was stunned for a moment, then slowed down her movements. The needle accurately pierced the blood vessel, and the transparent liquid slowly dripped down the infusion tube and blended into her pale skin.

Han Xi stayed beside the emergency bed, his hands hanging at his sides, with dark red blood still lingering between his fingers.

I don’t know if it was caught from Mamba or Fang Li.

His eyes were fixed on Fang Li's face, as if he wanted to carve her appearance into his bones, but when his gaze swept over her lower abdomen, his pupils suddenly contracted, his Adam's apple rolled up and down, and he let out a suppressed whimper.

Soon, the emergency bed was pushed towards the elevator entrance, and the wheels made a "gurgling" sound on the concrete floor of the apron.

Han Xi followed closely, his mud-covered military boots leaving a messy mark on the floor.

The pale light in the corridor shone on his bloodshot eyes, revealing a paranoia that was almost crazy.

He remembered the way Li Li looked at him with red eyes on the rooftop, her painful groans when she was dragged by Song Yuchen, and her last words, "Let's go to the hospital," which she barely managed to say.

His heart felt like it was being gripped by an invisible hand, and the pain was so severe that he could hardly breathe.

"It's all my fault..."

He murmured softly, his voice so soft that only he could hear it, but his fists clenched tighter and tighter, his nails digging deep into his palms, and he was completely unaware of the blood oozing out.

The elevator door dinged open, and it was already packed with doctors and nurses.

Han Xi wanted to follow him in, but was stopped by the head nurse: "Sir, the elevator is full. Please come down the stairs. We will wait for you in the operating room."

Han Xi didn't say anything, just stared at the slowly closing elevator door. Until the door was completely closed, blocking Fang Li's figure, he suddenly turned around and rushed towards the stairwell.
