Chapter 8: His perspective changed drastically; he had never known a woman before…
Upon seeing this, Su Mang immediately stepped forward: "Young master, what's wrong?"
Fu Yun retorted, "Didn't you ask me to plead for her? Of course, we'll let her get up first. As for my marriage, there's no need for the head of the family to worry about it."
Su Mang felt a mix of emotions. She did want the young man to help, but she didn't expect him to actually agree, let alone ask him to go immediately, since he was still seriously injured.
She knew that she and Su Zi usually treated the young master very badly, even appallingly, so it was somewhat shameless of them to beg him now.
But she was at her wit's end. She couldn't accept that Su Zi had been expelled from the Su family. No one could help her except the young master. So even though she knew she would be rejected, she could only try to beg the young master.
When the young man actually agreed, she felt uneasy: "Young man, your injury is still quite serious. It's not advisable for you to get out of bed now. Let's wait until you're better before you go."
"What is this little injury to me, a grown man? Su Zi is just a weak woman, kneeling for so long. If this leaves any lasting damage to her knees, it will be a lifelong problem."
Su Mang was completely stunned. She never expected that the young master was thinking this way. She and Su Zi were just servants of the Su family. Being punished by the head of the family to kneel was a common occurrence. They had long been used to it over the years.
It was already quite remarkable that the young master agreed to help plead for him. After all, he was just a man and didn't have a high status in the Su family. If he were to forcefully stand up for a servant, he probably wouldn't get away with it.
The reason he is receiving some care now is simply because he is exceptionally handsome, and the head of the family is determined to find him a good marriage so that she can bring glory to the Su family.
She could only remind him, "Young master, without the head of the family's pardon, no one can make a decision on their own."
Fu Yun sneered inwardly, but her face remained expressionless: "I know what she's up to. She's just making an example of me."
With that, not wanting to waste any more time with her, he slowly got out of bed.
Su Mang quickly took a set of blue-gray robes from the screen and helped him put them on.
Seeing that his handsome face was completely pale, she couldn't help but remind him, "Young master, you'll only worsen your injuries like this, and then..."
Fu Yun glanced at Su Mang and said with certainty, not in doubt, "You and Su Zi are sisters, right? Otherwise, you wouldn't have swallowed your pride to beg me."
Su Mang's expression froze, her eyes wide with astonishment: "You... how did you know?"
She and Su Zi were indeed biological sisters, but they had never told anyone this. They didn't enter the Su family at the same time; there was a three-year gap between them.
Furthermore, the two do not look alike and did not grow up together; in fact, they have no connection whatsoever. They only realized they were close relatives after entering the Su family and inadvertently discussing their past, which brought back the memory of being sold separately when they were three years old.
Shortly after the two were bought, the mother, unable to make a living, took her father and three older sisters to other remote towns.
Later, the two families who bought them, one fell into poverty and the other suffered from famine, so they resold them to the Su family as servants.
Therefore, no one knew their true background, not even the head of the family. So how did the young master find out?
Seeing the ever-changing expression on Su Mang's face, Fu Yun knew she was right.
Given Su Mang's taciturn nature, it's impossible for her to form deep friendships. If they weren't family, but just casual acquaintances, she wouldn't be so unsettled by this.
Actually, he wasn't really so magnanimous as to forgive past grievances. He was a businessman, and his help to Su Mang was partly driven by self-interest. As long as these two women stopped causing him trouble in the future, his life would definitely be much easier.
[President Fu is indeed President Fu; his magnanimity and vision are bound to lead to great success. Having more friends means having fewer enemies, which is beneficial to you.]
"Whether she'll gain another friend or not, I don't know, as long as she doesn't repay kindness with enmity."
Fu Yun endured the pain from her wounds, finished dressing, straightened her back, and looked sharply at Su Mang: "Don't worry about how I know. If you want to save her, take me there. What happens next is my business."
If this body weren't so weak that it would be difficult for him to walk a distance on his own, he would have gone by himself instead of arguing so much.
Su Mang stared blankly at Fu Jun, feeling that the young man was very different at this moment. Although he was thin, he stood upright like a pine tree, and his face had an unprecedented calmness and composure. The cowardly and helpless figure in her heart was gradually disappearing, and the image of him with a tenacious and strong aura was beginning to emerge. She could even feel the aura of a family head from him.
Seeing Su Mang staring blankly at him without saying a word, her eyes vacant and her thoughts wandering off somewhere else, Fu Yun could only wave his hand in front of her: "Hey! Snap out of it."
"Huh?" Su Mang shuddered, instantly snapping back to her senses. She immediately looked away, lowering her head somewhat awkwardly. "I understand. I'll take you there now."
Fu Jun didn't pay attention to her expression; he simply raised his right arm, gesturing for her to come and help him.
Su Mang quickly reached out and placed her hands on Fu Jun's forearms, helping him walk outside.
On their way to the front yard, Su Mang brought up the topic again: "Young master, do you have a good relationship with the Imperial Guards?"
Fu Yun: "?" What Imperial Guard?
He didn't quite understand Su Mang's meaning, and asked in a hoarse voice, "When have I ever had any dealings with the Imperial Guards?"
Su Mang quickly explained, "After you were injured this time, the commander of the Imperial Guard specially escorted you back. Isn't that because you have a relationship with her?"
Fu Yun now understood what Su Mang meant; she was probably referring to the woman in red who had infiltrated the bandit's den as an undercover agent.
“I’m not familiar with them. I guess they sent me back because of the family’s status.”
Knowing that the original owner died a tragic death, Fu Yun only wanted to stay away from the female lead in the book, and didn't want to have anything to do with anyone around her.
Since Fu Yun answered so readily, Su Mang didn't press further and could only pray that the young master already had a way to save them.
The two walked and stopped along the way, and after half an incense stick's time, they finally arrived at the main hall.
Fu Yun immediately spotted Su Zi kneeling stiffly outside the main room.
After a whole day and a half, people are probably numb by now.
Fu Yun looked around and saw that besides Su Zi kneeling in front of the main room, there were two guards standing outside the courtyard.
There was no one in the main room, which meant that the mistress of the Su family was not here.
Fu Yun stopped in front of Su Zi, and when his gaze fell on Su Zi's face, he was momentarily stunned.
The person before me was pale and bloodless, with disheveled hair. Her delicate eyebrows were furrowed, her eyes were tightly closed, and dark circles were visible under her eyes. White dead skin had formed on her lips. Clearly, she was exhausted from kneeling, yet she still insisted on not collapsing.
He never knew that a woman could have such a strong will. In his mind, women were usually delicate, gentle, sensitive, suspicious, and insecure. They would express their emotions by crying. Weaker women should be carefully protected and sheltered from the wind and rain by men.
It wasn't until he saw Su Zi so exhausted yet still stubbornly enduring it without uttering a sound that he realized how one-sided his previous impressions of women were. Their resilience and willpower were no less than men's, and even surpassed many men who were just eating and drinking and getting by.
It must be said that although Su Zi's personality isn't great, her tenacity is admirable.
Fu Yun took a deep breath and whispered to Su Mang, "Go inside and pour a glass of warm water."
Su Mang assumed the young man was thirsty from walking and wanted a cup of tea to quench his thirst, so she nodded and quickly went into the main room to pour him a cup of tea.
She handed the tea to Fu Jun: "Young master, the tea is here."
Fu Yun pointed at Su Zi: "Feed her."
Su Mang froze, staring at Fu Jun, completely bewildered.
Fu Yun sighed inwardly and patiently explained, "She is severely dehydrated. Let's give her some water first, and then help her back to her room to rest."
Su Mang hesitated: "With the patriarch absent, if we make decisions on our own, I'm afraid..."
Fu Yun waved his hand, saying in an unquestionable tone, "If I tell you to go, then go. I'll take care of things here; nothing will happen."
Su Mang remained silent, pondering for a long time while looking at Su Zi's pale face. In the end, she chose to squat down beside her, put her arm around Su Zi's shoulder, let her rest her head on her shoulder, and fed her the tea.
Su Zi slowly woke up, opened her eyes and saw Su Mang beside her. Her expression was somewhat dazed, and she asked in a hoarse voice, "Patriarch... have you... forgiven... me?"
Just as Su Mang was about to answer truthfully, Fu Yun gently touched her shoulder and reminded her, "If you have something to say, go back to your room and talk."
Su Zi's pupils contracted, and she abruptly looked up at Fu Jun, startled: "Young...Master? How...are you...here?"
She forced herself to straighten her back, a self-deprecating smirk playing on her lips: "You've come... to see me... laugh..."
Fu Yun was too lazy to explain to Su Zi. He pointed to the two guards outside the courtyard, indicating that Su Mang should take the person away first, and he would deal with the other two.
Su Mang nodded, and while carefully helping Su Zi up from the ground, she said in a low voice, "Young Master has important matters to discuss with the head of the family, let's go first!"
Although Su Zi had her doubts, she was too weak to do anything at the moment, so she could only follow Su Mang to the backyard.
Hearing the commotion inside, the two women outside the gate turned around. Seeing Su Mang helping Su Zi leave, their expressions immediately changed, and they shouted, "Hey! You..."
Fu Yun interrupted directly: "Where is the head of the family? I need to discuss the marriage with General Qian with her."
The two guards were both taken aback, and they couldn't care less about Su Mang and Su Zi anymore, since the patriarch cared most about the marriage between Su Xiaolangjun and General Qian.
The two women exchanged a glance, both looking puzzled.
