Chapter 145 You scared me to death! You can kill enemies...
As Fu Yun shouted, the civilians who had been running around and dodging all instinctively looked in this direction.
Seeing Fu Yun wielding a long sword and fighting amidst the chaos, he was immediately shocked, his eyes widening in disbelief. He stopped trying to dodge, and if his family hadn't pushed him away, he probably would have been killed by the chaotic army in the blink of an eye.
Fu Yun coldly slashed at the oncoming chaotic army, and said in a firm voice: "Gentlemen, we cannot give up now. Think of your families, think of your children. Even if there is only a sliver of hope, we must fight back. We can no longer be slaughtered. Pick up the weapons at hand and fight. If you are a man, you must stand tall and die with dignity."
It is said that even a rabbit will bite when cornered, let alone someone who has been driven to a dead end and is filled with hatred.
Fu Yun's words of encouragement were like a spark that ignited in the hearts of all the men, who were filled with rage. They finally stopped being submissive and willing to be beaten and killed, and instead grabbed whatever they could use as a weapon to fight back, confronting the enemy head-on in a way that was comparable to mutual destruction.
Hearing Fu Yun's powerful shouts and witnessing an even more intense battle, Lu Zhisheng was stunned.
Gradually, his gaze toward Fu Yun became increasingly ardent, filled with admiration.
He took a deep breath, his eyes searching the ground. Then, his gaze paused slightly, and he slowly crouched down. With his eyes half-closed, he snatched a large knife from a corpse, suppressed his fear, and slowly stood up.
He gripped the broadsword tightly, poised to charge towards the chaotic enemy positions on either side.
Su Mang and Su Zi, who were originally standing in front of him, turned around immediately upon hearing the commotion. Seeing his horrifying actions, they turned pale with fright.
Fortunately, Su Mang reacted quickly, almost instinctively grabbing Lu Zhisheng's arm and pulling him back forcefully.
Su Zi immediately stood in front of the two, brandishing her long sword and forcing the charging soldiers back several meters.
While fending off the chaotic attacks of the soldiers, Su Mang shouted sternly, "Are you out of your mind?"
Lu Zhisheng lowered his head, his eyes slightly red: "I don't want to be a burden to you, and I also want to help you share some of the fighting strength."
Fu Yun has been practicing martial arts with Wen Qin and the others for the past few months. Although he hasn't been practicing for long enough to become a master, he can still handle ordinary soldiers, though it's a bit difficult for them.
Hearing Su Mang's angry rebuke, he couldn't help but feel a chill in his heart. He turned around and glanced behind him, and seeing the knife in Lu Zhisheng's hand, he immediately guessed what had happened.
Just then, Lu Zhisheng looked up, but the next instant, his eyes widened and he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Watch out!"
With his exclamation, Fu Yun vaguely felt a chilling wind coming from behind him.
He felt a sudden chill and instinctively dodged to the side, raising his sword to block. He saw the silvery-white sword light graz the edge of the sword he was raising, and sparks flew everywhere as the swords scraped against each other. A wisp of hair on his chest also fell to the ground at that moment.
Just as Fu Jun was about to fight to the death, the soldier in the chaos suddenly stopped, and his expression froze instantly.
Fu Yun looked down and saw that the soldier's chest had been pierced through by a sword from behind.
He looked up and saw the guard Fang with a grim expression.
She glared at him fiercely, grabbed his forearm, and pulled him behind several guards who were still fighting off the enemy. After confirming that they wouldn't pose a immediate threat, she angrily shouted, "Do you want to die?"
Fu Yun met the gaze of the guards above with composure, her voice cold: "These rebel troops have increased their reinforcements and are using a war of attrition; they clearly intend to wear you down."
Guard Fang retorted coldly, "As long as the few of us are still alive, it's not your turn to go and die."
Fu Yun shook his head, his tone calm but unquestionable: "The number of rebels is increasing. How can you manage with just a few of you? There will come a time when your strength is exhausted, and then we will all die anyway. Why not take advantage of the little strength we still have to boost everyone's morale, fight back, and fight to the death? That way we might be able to seize a sliver of hope. Otherwise, none of us will be able to leave here alive."
Fang, the guard, frowned and fell into a brief silence, but her hand was still tightly gripping Fu Yun's forearm, clearly indicating that she would not agree to Fu Yun taking the risk.
She glanced at the swarming, chaotic army around her and saw that they were cruel and bloodthirsty, showing no mercy to civilians, and blood splattered wherever they went.
Fang, the guard, was instantly filled with raging anger and murderous intent. He pulled Fu Yun behind him and said urgently, "Don't do anything rash, or I'll sever your Achilles tendon."
After she finished speaking, she twirled the long sword in her hand, about to continue charging forward to fight, when she noticed that many civilians had already joined the ranks of those resisting with knives, and they were fighting quite well, showing a spirit of fighting to the death.
Half of these resisting civilians were normally unremarkable, weak men, but their fighting spirit was no less than that of the women.
Fang, the guard, paused only briefly before charging into the chaotic army and fighting with them.
Just as Fu Yun was about to continue fighting, he caught a glimpse of Lu Zhisheng rushing to his side, raising his broadsword as if he were about to charge out and fight to the death.
However, he was clearly not as calm as he appeared; his expression was tense, and his hands were shaking so badly they were almost sieves.
Fu Yun sighed inwardly, grabbed his wrist, pulled him behind her, and warned in a low voice, "Swords have no eyes, don't do anything reckless."
Lu Zhisheng replied softly, "If you can kill the enemy, so can I."
Fu Yun angrily tapped Lu Zhisheng on the forehead: "What can you say? You've never exercised or practiced martial arts, what are you doing meddling in this?"
Lu Zhisheng was somewhat unconvinced, and with her neck slightly stiffened, she retorted in a weak voice, "But you've never practiced martial arts either?"
Fu Yun said irritably, "I've been at the fitness training camp for the past few months, how could I not have learned it?"
“But…” Lu Zhisheng still wanted to try.
Fu Yun interrupted directly: "No buts. You have no martial arts foundation and have not learned self-defense. I will not allow you to act recklessly. Just remember that your identity is that of a doctor, responsible for helping us prolong our lives, not making a pointless sacrifice."
Before Lu Zhisheng could refute, Fu Yun quickly added, "What you need to do is treat the wounded, not send them up to be lambs to be slaughtered by the enemy."
"Furthermore, almost all of these rebellious men you see have trained in martial arts under General Wen at the training camp. Do you think they would just throw their lives away without any martial arts skills?"
"They will fight back, mostly because they want to protect their closest relatives and friends, to give their blood relatives a chance to live. Do you understand?"
Lu Zhisheng listened in a daze, then nodded: "I understand."
Fu Yun secretly breathed a sigh of relief: "After the chaos, what we need most is doctors. You stay in the encirclement and don't go anywhere, understand?"
Lu Zhisheng nodded obediently: "I understand."
Fu Jun felt relieved. He knew Lu Zhisheng's personality all too well. If he didn't dissuade the guy from his idea, he would definitely be killed here by the chaotic army.
Fang, the guard, was clearly determined not to let Fu Jun take any more risks. He and several other guards kept Fu Jun surrounded from all sides, so even if he wanted to fight the rebels, he couldn't find an opportunity to make a move.
Fortunately, with the addition of the civilian army, the rebel army lost its original determination to win and instead became embroiled in a bitter battle.
As more and more civilians joined the army, the morale of the allied forces rose higher and higher, and the casualties of the rebel army gradually increased, even beginning to exceed those of the allied forces.
Fang, the guard, and his men were no longer under such pressure and were able to catch their breath with the help of many civilian soldiers.
The knife hanging over Fu Yun's heart finally had a brief respite.
He knew very well that the rebel army was not a scattered force, but an organized and premeditated gang, and every group has a leader.
If the leader can be captured, the fighting in the city may be quelled.
Thinking of this, Fu Yun tugged at the sleeve of the guard closest to him.
The guard turned around, his eyes questioning.
Fu Yun said, "Please inform Lord Fang that to kill the enemy, you must first capture their leader. If we can find the commander of the rebel army and bring her under control, this chaotic battle may be able to stop."
The guard nodded, cutting down the chaotic soldiers as he gradually approached Fang's bodyguard.
When the two met and whispered something to each other while fighting the enemy, the guard who had delivered the message quickly left the battlefield after a few dodges.
Fu Yun thought to himself, if Guard Fang only arranged for this one secret guard to search for people, it means that this secret guard is extremely capable, one person can be as good as an army.
However, judging from their undefeated record over the past few days, it is indeed the case. These bodyguards are really powerful, just like Iron Man in the movie, with ridiculously strong strength, comparable to Superman.
All I can say is that Chinese martial arts are truly unfathomable.
With one less bodyguard, the pressure from the rebel army increased again, and several times he almost had his clothes and hair scraped by their swords.
This won't do. If Lu Zhisheng gets hurt by mistake, then we're doomed.
Fang, the guards, several secret guards, and Su Mang and Su Zi had all suffered numerous injuries, both major and minor, due to the prolonged battle.
Once the fighting ended, everyone needed immediate bandaging and treatment. In such a chaotic situation, it was impossible to go to a clinic for treatment, and anyone who lost too much blood could be in mortal danger.
Fu Yun disregarded the guard Fang's warning and drew his sword to fill the vacancy left by the hidden guard.
Although Guard Fang, Su Mang, and Su Zi protected Fu Yun at all times, they still couldn't kill off wave after wave of enemy soldiers who charged forward.
There are always some who manage to slip through the net, but in order not to implicate Guard Fang and Su Mangsu, Fu Yun kept quiet and did not let the cracks in the protective circle become apparent.
Instead, he held his ground, preventing the chaotic troops from harming Lu Zhisheng.
Time passed, and the chaotic battle seemed endless. Fu Yun was so tired that she could barely lift her hands, but she dared not be distracted in the slightest.
If one's movements become sluggish, one will inevitably die by the enemy's sword in the next moment.
Fu Yun's strength was being depleted very quickly. His entire arm was stiff and numb, and he was really about to give up.
But the thought that Zhilan was still waiting for his good news made him unwilling to give up. He and Zhilan were not yet married, and he had never given Zhilan a truly meaningful gift between lovers.
They hadn't even watched a single firework together, and there were so many things they hadn't experienced together. He didn't want to die with such regrets.
Thinking of Zhilan, Fu Yun seemed to be filled with an invisible force. He gritted his teeth and persevered. Even though his palms were rubbed raw and bleeding from the sword hilt, he still gripped the sword tightly and fought back with difficulty.
He would never give up until the very last moment.
Just as Fu Yun was exhausted and his vision was starting to go black, he vaguely saw a familiar figure descending from the sky, sword in hand, flying towards his location.
He seemed to hear an urgent call: "Su Zixin!"
"Hold on! Don't give up."
Fu Yun smiled bitterly to himself: "Is this a hallucination on the verge of death?"
He tried to cheer himself up, but ultimately couldn't overcome his physical exhaustion; his eyelids were so heavy he couldn't open them.
He felt a sword aura coming toward his face, but he had already lost the strength to dodge it.
He silently said to himself, "I'm sorry, Zhilan, I can't wait until we get married."
"Su Zixin!"
The shout was urgent and alarmed, sounding too real, as if Zhilan was shouting in alarm not far away.
"Clang!" The ear-piercing sound of weapons clashing was followed by the thud of heavy objects hitting the ground.
Fu Yun's body suddenly swayed, and he fell straight to the ground.
Just before he fell to the ground, his waist and abdomen were embraced by an arm that was not strong but rather slender, yet very powerful.
I felt my shoulder being shaken slightly, and I heard anxious voices calling my name: "Su Zixin! Su Zixin!"
"It was my fault!"
"I shouldn't have let you do such a dangerous thing."
"Where is the doctor? Where is the doctor?"
Fu Yun didn't actually faint; he was just exhausted and had no strength left in his body.
After a while, he slowly opened his eyes. What he saw was Zhilan's reddened eyes, and her expression of guilt and regret. There was also a hint of mania between her brows, as if she was trying her best to control her turbulent emotions.
A pang of pain shot through Fu Yun's heart, and she spoke in a hoarse voice, "Zhilan..."
Upon hearing Fu Yun's voice, Zhi Lan suddenly lowered her eyes and looked over.
Seeing that Fu Yun was awake, her pupils contracted sharply, and then she hugged Fu Yun tightly, her voice trembling with excitement: "You're alright...that's great..."
Fu Yun gently reassured her, "I'm fine, don't worry."
"It's good that you're alright. I was really scared to death when you collapsed just now."
Fu Yun breathed slightly and explained in a low voice, "I'm just out of strength, I don't have any fatal injuries."
As he spoke, he suddenly realized he hadn't heard Lu Zhisheng's voice, so he quickly looked up to look for her.
"Don't be afraid, he's fine. He was just knocked unconscious by my sword sheath the moment he rushed over to shield you from the sword when you were in danger."
Fu Yun looked up and saw Lu Zhisheng being supported by two guards, her head hanging low, clearly unconscious.
Fu Yun felt a wave of fear. Fortunately, Zhi Lan stopped her in time, otherwise Lu Zhi Sheng would have been gone.
If Lu Zhisheng had died saving him, he would never be able to forgive himself for the rest of his life.
Fu Yun rested on the ground for a while, feeling a bit stronger, and gently patted Zhi Lan's back: "I'm fine now, help me up!"
Zhilan nodded, put a little distance between herself and Fu Jun, put her arm around his shoulder, and helped him up from the ground.
Fu Yun slowly scanned his surroundings and saw that the fighting seemed to have stopped, and the streets were filled with kneeling soldiers who had obviously surrendered.
"Is the fighting in the city over?"
Zhilan nodded, her expression turning cold and stern: "Their leaders have all been brought to justice, and now they are a disorganized mess, naturally they can't amount to anything."
Fu Jun finally felt relieved and asked, "Who is the leader of these rebels?"
Zhilan did not answer Fu Yun's question directly, but smiled and said, "With your wisdom, I'm afraid you can guess it without me saying it."
Fu Yun's lips curled slightly. He neither admitted nor denied it. He simply glanced at the street filled with soldiers and suggested in a low voice, "This is not the place to talk. Let's go back to the Su residence!"
Zhilan readily agreed and whispered a few words to Guard Fang.
He then sent someone to bring two carriages, one to the two bodyguards who were taking care of Lu Zhisheng, and the other to her and Fu Jun.
Before getting into the carriage, he scanned the crowd and saw that Guard Fang and the other guards were resting against a stone bench.
Su Mang and Su Zi lay on the ground, their faces pale, but there were no signs of serious injury. Someone was helping to check their wounds.
When Fu Yun looked over, the two sisters had already raised their hands and silently let her know they were safe.
Fu Yun felt much more at ease, thinking, "It's so good that everyone is alive and well in such a dangerous situation."
Upon returning to the Su residence, the two went to the main hall to rest.
After eating some pastries and drinking a few cups of tea to relieve their fatigue, Fu Yun finally started talking about serious matters: "Could the leader of the rebel army be the head of the Wang family?"
Zhilan raised her eyebrows slightly, a smile flashing in her eyes: "You really guessed it."
Fu Yun said, "I did have my suspicions, but I have no evidence."
Zhilan took a sip of tea and asked casually, "Do you still remember the time a few months ago when the Su family head and the Wang family head met with guests in the middle of the night?"
Fu Yun nodded and said, "I remember, I already suspected them of colluding with foreign powers and secretly covering up for those spies who were building secret passages."
Zhilan smiled and said, "You're right, but not entirely."
Fu Yun looked up in surprise: "What do you mean by that?"
Author's note: Woohoo, still trying to fill in the plot holes...
I'm inexplicably looking forward to it. What's with the part where Fu Yun gives birth?
