Chapter 215: Jumping from a tall building in despair

Zhao Anyun's father, Zhao Guohuai, was known as a kind and generous man. Neither relatives nor friends had a bad word to say about him. As for her mother, she was always obedient to her father and wholeheartedly supported her husband in his good deeds. Both husband and wife enjoyed a good reputation among their acquaintances.

Zhao Anyun's parents were business owners. While their business wasn't large, it did generate over two million yuan in annual profits. However, Zhao Anyun's life wasn't as comfortable as others imagined. Instead, she lived a tight life, only getting new clothes during the Lunar New Year. Any toy she liked, friends and family would take it without a single word. Her generous parents never refused.

When she loved music and guitar, she told her parents she wanted to buy a guitar. Her father, while saying it was useless and a waste of money, bought a piano for a friend's child as a birthday present. Zhao Anyun knew she had to rely on herself for everything she wanted, not on her parents. So she scrimped and saved, using her Lunar New Year red envelopes to buy her beloved guitar.

At that time, her parents were furious and scolded her for wasting money, saying it was meant for her college tuition. They even cut her living allowance as a lesson. Zhao Anyun was also a bit stubborn, content with not starving to death. Because of this, she had a weak stomach since childhood and could not gain weight no matter how much she ate. Her father thought she was disobedient, and her mother felt she was not girly enough and could not fulfill her wish for a caring and sweet little girl.

Over the years, her relationship with her parents had been lukewarm. However, the real breakdown of their relationship began when she took Ji Tongwen back home.

After her father's best friend died during a mission, Ji Tongwen's mother, who was in poor health and passed away early, was adopted by her father. Initially, Zhao Anyun felt pity for her sister, who had a miserable life. She never took her father's kindness out on her, as her father had always been a tough character. Even if he treated his own children harshly, he would never let another child suffer. Furthermore, Ji Tongwen's life story was truly pitiful.

But after Ji Tongwen arrived home, she first took a fancy to her room, saying that she liked the bright light in her room and that she could wake up in the morning sun. So her parents gave the room she had lived in for more than ten years to Ji Tongwen, saying that since she had few things, she could just live in the study.

Her mother also liked Ji Tongwen more, thinking that she was sweet-mouthed and well-behaved and allowed her to dress herself up. Her appearance satisfied her mother's wish of having a caring little girl, and she also said that they were born to be mother and daughter.

When she went back home that weekend, she happened to see Ji Tongwen playing the guitar she had put away for her parents. Her parents praised her talent and said they would enroll her in a class. Then they criticized her again, saying that she had learned guitar for so many years, but she was unwilling to perform for the elders during the Chinese New Year, and she was very arrogant.

At that time, Zhao Anyun was stimulated by this scene and had a big quarrel with his parents.

Ji Tongwen was still crying, saying it was all her fault. She thought Zhao Anyun didn't want the guitar anymore, so she tried to play it to cheer her parents up. She also said she was an outsider and didn't want the Zhao family to quarrel over her, so she was willing to move back home and live on her own.

Her crying escalated the family war.

Zhao Anyun will never forget what her parents said at that time.

"In our hearts, Wenwen is more than our biological daughter. You are not the one who should leave here. Anyun has no feelings for us as parents, so we don't need this daughter."

"Anjun, since you feel you've grown strong enough to fight your parents, then leave this home. Without this home, you're nothing."

Zhao Anyun just thought it was ridiculous. He didn't even take his clothes. He just took his guitar and the music books he had kept and left.

She just thought her parents were dead.

Zhao Anyun looked at the name that kept flashing on the screen and hung up the phone. Given her father's personality, he was probably going to explode with rage.

Originally, Zhao Anyun wanted to block him directly, but after thinking about it, he decided not to do so.

Zhao Guohuai then called several more times, but all calls were hung up.

In anger, he sent a text message to Zhao Anyun and cursed her. If his relatives and friends saw the vicious words, they would probably suspect that he had been possessed by another spirit.

But Zhao Anyun had gotten used to it. She also couldn't understand why her father, who was always so tolerant and even understanding with outsiders, was always so harsh with her. He reserved his warmth for outsiders, leaving only his cold side to her.

Zhao Anyun didn't believe a truly good man would treat his own daughter this way. Her only explanation was that he had been constrained by the reputation of a good man for so long, trying hard to maintain this image in front of others, and feeling depressed inside. She was the target of his open venting of his malice.

Also, because her parents had been saying bad things about her in public for many years, no matter how her father scolded her, people would only say that she was a disobedient daughter who had made her good-tempered biological father so angry.

She looked at the text message. Perhaps because she no longer had any expectations, the vicious words did not hurt her.

She needs to keep these words in her mind at all times to remind herself not to have unnecessary expectations of them.

How ridiculous! She never received warmth from her family, but instead received it from outsiders.

But... why did his father mention Shi Miao in his text message? He said she had grown too independent and was unwilling to help the family.

She did take a photo with Shi Miao, but she kept it carefully to herself and had no intention of showing it off to anyone. She also didn't want to reveal the relationship between Yan Zi and Shi Miao, lest Yan Zi be harassed at school.
