Strange Tales from the Deep Mountains (Part 9)

Strange Tales from the Deep Mountains (Part 9)

The air grew thinner and thinner, and a series of sharp, booming sounds rang in Li Su's ears.

He vaguely heard the sound of jingling silver bells, but perhaps it was the bells hanging on his own dress.

"Let him go."

A cool, clear voice entered my ears.

Who is it? Has 'He' come?

Li Su tried to look in the direction of the sound, but everything in front of her turned pitch black due to lack of oxygen.

"Hiss—hiss—"

Why should he be mine?

The giant python hissed in warning.

Qi Wuyi's dark green eyes turned dangerous. "Fool, he can't breathe."

Qi the witch doctor's face was ashen, his gaze fixed on the boy who was wrapped in the giant python's arms.

A moment of confusion flashed in the python's eyes. Looking down, it realized that even the prey in its arms was breathing very weakly.

He hurriedly and hastily released his strength and carefully put the boy down. This time, the giant python did not dare to exert any force and only used its tail to lightly drag the boy's buttocks.

Qi the witch doctor quietly tucked the medicinal powder in his hand into his sleeve.

If he had been a second later, he would have killed the snake without hesitation.

Even if doing so might attract the attention of the mainframe, that's fine. It's just that his preparations may not be sufficient at the moment, and he can't guarantee that he can defeat the mainframe 100%.

The giant python coiled in the tree watched helplessly as Doctor Qi carried away its little prey, issuing repeated warnings. Doctor Qi didn't even spare a glance for it, his voice icy and chilling, "If you accidentally hurt him again, I'll kill you."

The giant python, its wound reopened, drooped its head and dared not utter another sound, but its vertical pupils still followed the boy in the man's arms.

If it makes a mistake, will it ever see its prey again? Will the prey hate it? Will 'He' be angry?

Li Su didn't completely faint. He regained consciousness the moment the python put him down. However, the brief lack of oxygen made his mind a little muddled. Moreover, he didn't want to stay near that beast any longer. After all, it was a cold-blooded animal and wouldn't listen to him. He was also bewitched and actually tried to talk to the python.

Li Su breathed in the fresh air deeply, as if she had the urge to suck all the surrounding air into her lungs.

Qi the witch doctor gently stroked his back, and Li Su's face gradually returned to normal, but because he was breathing too fast, his skin was flushed.

Li Su was still shaken and trembled uncontrollably as she thought she had almost been suffocated by that giant python.

"Don't be afraid." Doctor Qi felt his trembling and tapped behind his ear with his fingertip.

As her tense and rapid heartbeat gradually calmed down, Li Su belatedly noticed a very soothing herbal scent.

Doctor Qi must be a good person, right?

Li Su quietly pondered in his heart, after all, he had given him a necklace that could ward off evil spirits and saved him from the giant python.

Li Su's breathing gradually returned to normal, but Doctor Qi's expression remained icy.

The snake had almost gotten out of control and hurt his Su Su, and just thinking about it made his face turn increasingly pale.

Each of them had their own thoughts, and the only sound along the way was the clear ringing of silver bells.

Doctor Qi placed him on a stool, and after a rustling sound, a new kerosene lamp was lit, illuminating the room again. Only then did Li Su belatedly realize that Doctor Qi had already taken him back to his residence.

The others showed no signs of waking up and remained asleep in the same position he had left in.

"Why didn't you come to me?" Doctor Qi's thin lips pressed into a straight line.

"Hilarious! Even when he's angry, he only dares to coldly ask his wife why she didn't ask me for help, right? Hahahaha..."

On the surface: Why didn't you contact me? In reality: Has my wife forgotten me? Why doesn't she ask me for help?

"I guess someone is angry with himself, and his cold face is because he didn't get there earlier to help Su Su baby."

“?” Li Su blinked.

She wasn't angry that he went out on his own, nor did she question why he was still sober. Instead, she asked him why he didn't go to see him.

Li Su felt that she couldn't quite understand Qi Wuyi's thought process. Or was it that the people in the witch village were not normal and that she couldn't expect them to think like ordinary people?

Li Su carefully observed Doctor Qi's expression before gently apologizing, "I'm sorry."

The handsome foreign man in front of her had a gloomy expression and said nothing more, only lowering his long eyelashes.

The moment her wrists were restrained, Li Su stammered, "I'm...I'm sorry, I really know I was wrong, I shouldn't have gone out like that..."

Qi Wuyi's body temperature was no different from that of the large python that had just tightly wrapped around him, and Li Su suddenly felt as if he were being wrapped around by a python again.

The hand holding his wrist paused for a moment, and his pale eyelids opened the next second.

Li Su met Qi Wuyi's dark green vertical pupils directly.

It looked too much like a snake. Li Su subconsciously swallowed and looked down. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the two real legs.

Fortunately, Doctor Qi is a real person.

Qi Wuyi parted his thin lips and slowly uttered two words: "Wrong."

The two were very close, and Li Su could feel the man's cold breath on his face as he spoke. Li Su instinctively leaned back, but was pulled back by Doctor Qi.

"Don't lean on her." Doctor Qi frowned as he watched the distance between Li Su and Li Xue suddenly close.

Li Su looked back and saw Li Xue sleeping soundly very close to him, so he nodded and said, "Ah... okay."

"It's not that you shouldn't go out, it's that you should come to me if you encounter danger."

If Doctor Qi hadn't looked so serious, clearly not joking, Li Su would have really thought he was telling a joke.

The NPC in this instance directly told him that he was willing to help him.

Li Su didn't understand.

Moreover, when he was entangled by the giant python, he had no way to find Doctor Qi, let alone seek his help.

Despite thinking this, Li Su obediently nodded, "I understand."

Seeing him nod, Doctor Qi's tightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed, and his gaze shifted back to his hands. "Hold out your hand."

"Okay." Li Su obediently stretched out her hands.

The pungent, fishy smell from my palms became even more pronounced in the room.

Li Su saw the man in front of her frown furrow again, his beautiful red lips parting to utter words that were utterly merciless.

"It stinks!"

Li Su's eyes widened, and she instinctively tried to clench her hands, her thin face flushing with embarrassment.

Does he smell bad? He does seem a little...

Li Su lowered her eyelashes, looking somewhat aggrieved.

It's all that stinky snake's fault. Some kind of sticky liquid from its body smeared all over him, and he could still feel the liquid drying on his legs.

Qi the witch doctor keenly noticed the change in Li Su's emotions. While taking out a handkerchief to wipe his hands, he explained, "I'm not talking about you, it's that beast who stinks."

Li Su looked up blankly, a single syllable escaping from her throat: "Huh?"

"That's hilarious! How much does Doctor Qi hate that giant snake? He even calls it a beast."

"He even wiped her hands. Well, Doctor Qi, you really take good care of your wife."

"I feel a bit familiar with Doctor Qi, but I can't quite place him..."

"Hey kid, don't be too possessive of my wife."

"It leaves behind an unpleasant smell."

Doctor Qi lowered his head, frowned, but patiently wiped each of Li Su's fingers clean with a cloth.

The atmosphere was somewhat heavy, and Li Su wanted to break the silence, so she chimed in, "Pythons drool a lot, and it smells awful..."

As soon as Li Su finished speaking, he saw Doctor Qi raise his head, his dark green eyes staring straight at him without blinking, his eyes filled with complex emotions.

Li Su tentatively asked, "W-what's wrong?" Did he say something wrong?

"It's not saliva." A hint of disgust flashed in Qi Wuyi's eyes.

"Um?"

Doctor Qi didn't explain further, but his hands moved even faster, as if every second the liquid lingered would further contaminate Li Su.

He hated the smell of anyone else on his Susu.

If it wasn't saliva, then what was it? The python didn't seem injured either. Where else on its body would there be a foul-smelling, sticky liquid oozing out?

Li Su quickly realized something, her cheeks burning, and her gaze on her own palm became somewhat evasive.

Is his hand still usable?

Doctor Qi carefully wiped his hands clean, then sniffed them to make sure there were no other strange smells, only the herbal scent on his body, before looking up and asking, "Is there any other liquid here?"

Almost the instant Qi Wuyi asked the question, Li Su reflexively brought her knees together, then, thinking of the liquid on her legs, a conflict flashed across her face.

He couldn't accept having python fluid on his body, but that wicked snake was so indecent; the places it had rubbed against were too embarrassing to talk about, let alone lifting his skirt and exposing it to a stranger.

The witch doctor was still staring intently at him. Li Su unconsciously stopped himself from speaking, his eyes darting away, and he stammered, "N-nothing..."

No, it would be even worse if Doctor Qi discovered that he was a man dressed as a woman.

Compared to the danger to his life, he suddenly felt that having the foul-smelling liquid left on his body by the snake wasn't so bad after all.

Qi Wuyi's slender vertical pupils narrowed slightly.

Su Su is lying to him.

His sense of smell was very sensitive; he could even smell a strong fishy stench mixed with Su Su's original scent, which even overpowered his own original scent.

"Little liar."

Doctor Qi's expression remained unchanged, and Li Su couldn't tell whether he was angry or not.

Li Su didn't know how Doctor Qi had discovered his lie, but he reflexively pressed down on Doctor Qi's hand, which was resting above his knee, and frantically shook his head, saying, "No, I didn't lie, I really didn't..."

The man in front of him looked down at him, his dark green eyes revealing no emotion.

As time went by, Li Su's anxious heart gradually calmed down.

Doctor Qi didn't expose him again; this time he must have truly believed him, right?

Finally, the man's gaze shifted from his face, and just as Li Su was about to breathe a sigh of relief, two cold hands pierced through the fabric and inserted into his tightly closed knees.
