Strange Tales from the Deep Mountains (Part 3)
The man said something and then immediately lowered his head to suck on the spot he had just been sucking.
A slight stinging pain returned, and blood flowed from the wound into the man's mouth again. The wound didn't hurt much, but the sensation was hard to ignore, and Li Su couldn't help but frown slightly.
"!!!Exotic beauty!"
"What? This NPC is so handsome?"
"OK, this perfectly matches my image of a 'femme fatale,' so beautiful, so beautiful, so beautiful (drooling...)"
"Just started the live stream, what's going on? I've never seen this dungeon before. Is it new?"
"Even though you're handsome, you can't just... just... never mind, you're handsome so you're right."
Blood was gradually draining away, and the man's palms and mouth were icy cold. Li Su couldn't even tell whether it was her own body temperature that was dropping, or the temperature of the man in front of her that made her feel cold.
Finally, after an unknown amount of time, the man's cool, wet tongue pressed against the two small holes, seemingly with a sense of comfort.
The man gently placed Li Su's ankle on his knee, then lowered his eyes and pulled out a small bag embroidered with strange patterns from among the layers of clothing.
Li Su looked on curiously and saw a small ball wrapped in yellow paper being opened, revealing white powder inside.
With slender fingers, she slowly opened the pale yellow paper packet, pinched one corner with two fingers, and evenly sprinkled the white powder onto the wound that had stopped bleeding.
This movement seems familiar...
For some reason, the image of the male teacher who had applied medicine to him in the previous instance flashed through Li Su's mind, but he couldn't remember what the teacher looked like.
"This is medicine powder. It will be fine after you apply it. Don't worry too much."
The man's words brought Li Su back to her senses.
As Li Su lowered her eyes, the man stuffed the small bag back into his waistband.
The person before her was exceptionally graceful in every movement. Li Su was stunned for a moment before she came to her senses and quickly thanked them, "Th-thank you..."
The thought of the man licking blood sent chills down Li Su's spine, but she still managed to compose herself and ask, "Are you alright?"
The man in front of her moved his throat slightly. Li Su blinked, and remembering how the man had swallowed her blood just now, she subconsciously followed the man's action and swallowed as well.
The man slowly lifted his pale eyelids and looked at Li Su with his dark green eyes. "It's okay, it's my pet."
As if in response to the man's words, the little snake that had just crawled into his sleeve appeared out of nowhere and was now coiled on the man's shoulder, its black bean-like eyes fixed on Li Su.
Li Su was still a little scared of it, and moved her buttocks back slightly.
The man looked at the fresh red marks on Li Su's ankle, and then casually wrapped the black snake on his shoulder and tossed it into his sleeve.
How dare he ask his Su Su for a girlfriend? He must have a death wish.
The man in front of him lazily looked at him with his eyelids drooping: "New here?"
The man carefully put the black snake away, and Li Su secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Although the man's voice was low, it was clear and pure, like a mountain stream, making people feel comfortable all over.
Li Su nodded: "Mm."
The man showed no other expression, but turned around and squatted down in front of Li Su: "Get on, I am the witch doctor of the witch village, I will carry you back to the witch village."
"Ah..." Li Su wanted to refuse, but after trying, she found that the leg still had no strength, so she had to give up.
Li Su wrapped his arms around the witch doctor's neck, propped himself up on one leg, and carefully climbed onto the witch doctor's back. The two were very close. Li Su's nose twitched slightly. The scent on the witch doctor was like the fragrance of flowers and the bitter green smell of certain plants, which unconsciously enveloped him completely.
Suddenly realizing that it was strange of him to be looking down and smelling the man's fragrance, Li Su's face flushed. Embarrassed, he lowered his head and whispered, "Thank you..."
The witch doctor didn't say anything, but placed his arm under Lisu's thigh and easily lifted her up.
Li Su felt the witch doctor's arm supporting him from beneath his buttocks. The black snake tucked into his sleeve kept appearing in his mind. Li Su asked tremblingly, "That snake..."
"It dares not come out again without my permission."
Hearing the witch doctor's words, Li Su finally felt relieved and was able to relax her tense muscles, putting all her weight on the witch doctor's arm.
Li Su was a little curious again: "Why is it so obedient?"
The girl on his back breathed on his neck as she spoke, and the witch doctor's eyes darkened for a moment, but his tone remained unchanged: "The people in the witch village all know magic. The most common thing is to tame insects, snakes, scorpions and monsters with their own bodies. These animals recognize their masters."
Li Su felt a chill run down her spine at the thought of the animals the shaman had mentioned, and quickly climbed up a little higher, tightly wrapping her arms around the shaman's neck. "Then, then there must be a lot of monsters in this village..." Li Su felt it wasn't appropriate to call their pets monsters, so she cautiously changed her term: "Pets?"
The shaman looked straight ahead at the village and said, "Yes, many." So remember to come find me if you encounter danger.
Li Su, who was terrified of those things, felt her scalp tingle upon hearing the witch doctor's words. She quickly hugged the witch doctor tighter and kept looking back to see if there were any of those horrible things on the damp ground.
Still feeling a bit uneasy about being new to the place, and seeing that the man in front of her didn't seem very approachable, Li Su didn't say anything more.
The witch doctor quickly carried Li Su to the entrance of the witch village.
The men standing on either side hurried forward, their tone respectful: "Doctor Qi, you're back?"
"Hmm," the witch doctor replied indifferently.
It turns out his surname is Qi.
Li Su silently recited it in her heart.
"This is..." The man looked Li Su up and down as the witch doctor carried her on his back. "The new woman?"
"Healer Qi, hand her over to us, and we'll take her to see the clan chief."
Another man stepped forward as he spoke, which startled Li Su so much that she quickly hid her head behind Doctor Qi's shoulder and tightly wrapped her arms around his neck.
The two men were looking at him strangely. Li Su didn't want to be with them. Although he had only just met Doctor Qi, Doctor Qi had saved him, and for some reason, he had a strange trust in Doctor Qi.
Sensing the person on his back's dependence on him, a barely perceptible smile flickered in Qi Wuyi's dark green eyes: "No need, I'll take him."
The two men stopped insisting and stepped aside, saying, "Okay, thank you for your trouble."
After Doctor Qi carried him away, Li Su leaned down and whispered in Doctor Qi's ear, "What are you doing seeing the clan chief?"
"Getting married."
Doctor Qi's tone remained unchanged, as if he were recounting something utterly ordinary.
"Marriage?" Li Su was completely stunned.
Before he could ask him anything more, Doctor Qi had already carried him to a spacious courtyard.
The long table was surrounded by men dressed similarly to Doctor Qi, and the intricate patterns on the dark blue fabric made Li Su's heart beat faster for no apparent reason.
"The witch doctor Qi has arrived."
The old man sitting at the very front of the long table spoke.
Li Su looked in the direction of the sound and then noticed that Doctor Qi's clothes were different from theirs. They were dark purple, but the two colors were very similar. If he didn't look closely, he probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two colors at all.
As soon as the old man finished speaking, everyone around the long table turned to look at the two of them. Li Su quickly buried her head behind Doctor Qi.
"Is this the new woman?"
"You look very young?"
The sixth one?
"It seems like it's hard to raise; will it even meet 'It's' standards...?"
The men around him made no attempt to hide anything from Li Su, and began talking about him right in front of him.
Li Su frowned; the feeling of being scrutinized and evaluated like a commodity made him uncomfortable. Li Su silently lowered his head, trying to shrink himself behind Doctor Qi.
As if sensing his unease, Doctor Qi interrupted them and looked at the man sitting at the front, saying, "Chief, this is the newcomer today. I met him outside the village. He was bitten by a snake, and I have already treated his wound."
The clan chief frowned slightly, and after thinking for a moment, he said, "Let's send her over first. 'He' has very strict requirements. If she is injured, 'He' might not be satisfied. Let her live with them until her injuries heal."
Li Su frowned. He couldn't understand what this person was saying. What was with "he," "she," and "it"? Was he trying to solve a riddle?
Who should be chosen? What are the requirements?
The system suddenly spoke up: "[I'm considered the father of your future child.]"
Li Su opened her eyes wide in disbelief and said to the system: But I'm a man?
But in their eyes, you are a woman.
Li Su: "..."
However, because of your wounds, you've escaped unscathed for now. Tonight, it'll be someone else.
Li Su thought about the snake bite she had just suffered, and realized that it had actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
He could only stall for a few days. There were only six players in this instance, and it would be his turn soon. Li Su felt uneasy: What if it was discovered that I was not a woman and could not have children when it was my turn?
Therefore, you only have six days to uncover the secrets of the witch village and successfully leave before the night of the sixth day.
Li Su fell silent. He now understood how the six-day time limit for the main quest came about. If a player disappeared every day, he would be on the sixth day on the last day.
"That's perfect, now that we've finished talking, everyone can go back." The clan chief, leaning on his cane, was the first to get up and leave.
After the clan leader left, everyone else got up as well. Although they were curious, they all tacitly avoided the two of them. Li Su could feel their longing gazes, but for some reason, those gazes were evasive and dared not fully focus on him.
A man walked past them, turning back to look at Li Su, but met Qi Wuyi's dark green eyes, which were devoid of any emotion.
Doctor Qi looked at the man in front of him with an unchanged expression: "He is that person's bride, so it's best to keep your distance. What do you think?"
