The Silent and Eerie School (Part Nine)
But as time ticked by, the mechanical voice still didn't sound.
Li Su was also somewhat surprised. He had disobeyed the system's orders, so why wasn't he punished?
"What if he forces us to watch?" Li Xue still looked worried, but she had stopped crying.
"I..." Li Su was stumped by the question. He didn't even know how he had regained consciousness, nor did he understand why the doctor had let him go. After a long pause, Li Su shook his head, his voice becoming dejected: "I'm sorry, I don't know..."
Before anyone else could respond, the female teacher stormed over from the first line, urging the next person to go in for inspection: "Next one, get in!"
Qi Zui raised an eyebrow and calmly walked into the consultation room.
Li Su was a little worried. He subconsciously thought of the worst. What if, what if Qi Zui made eye contact with the doctor? For some reason, the male doctor didn't do anything to him. Would Qi Zui be able to get out as smoothly as he was?
After Qi Zui went in, the female teacher snorted and moved to another line.
Qi leaned closer and said, "Don't worry, he'll be fine."
Why is Su Su crying?
Qi also used his fingertips to wipe away the tears on Li Su's face.
Li Su belatedly reached up and touched the area around his eyes, feeling a lingering dampness on his fingertips. He was momentarily lost in thought, then murmured softly, "I don't know..."
He seemed to see a blank space. What was that? Was it his memory? Why was it a blank space?
No one came out of the first and second waiting rooms for a long time. As time went by, the players waiting in line at the door gradually became anxious and panicked, but they had no other way to leave.
Like a fish on a chopping board, you know the knife is coming, but you can do nothing about it.
The atmosphere in the team became increasingly tense.
The door to the third waiting room was quickly pushed open, and Qi Zui came out.
Wang Fan looked up at him and asked, "How was it?"
Qi Ye showed no intention of waiting for Qi Zui to explain how to get out safely. He bypassed Qi Zui and walked into the clinic. Li Su subconsciously looked in Qi Ye's direction, but then heard Qi Zui say, "Don't worry, he'll be fine."
Li Su found it hard to describe her feelings. Are all twins like this? They say almost the same things, as if they have some kind of special telepathy.
Qi Zui smiled and continued, "I'm fine, and he'll be fine too."
Huang Chenchuan grinned and said, "Ah, because you two are twins, Brother Qi, hahaha... If Brother Qi doesn't see a doctor, then Brother Qi definitely won't look at the doctor's eyes either..."
Huang Chenchuan still couldn't tell the two people apart, so he could only call them both Brother Qi.
"I made eye contact with the doctor," Qi Zui said calmly, dropping a bombshell.
Huang Chenchuan stared in disbelief, and after a long pause, he slowly uttered a single syllable: "Huh???"
Qi Zui remained expressionless, calmly stating a cruel fact: "It's impossible for everyone to be so lucky as to avoid eye contact with a doctor."
This is another side of the story that none of them want to talk about. They all try to comfort themselves by saying that as long as they don't make eye contact with the doctor, everything will be fine. But what if they are forced to make eye contact with the doctor? What will they do then?
Everyone fell silent.
Jiang Xiaoning looked at Qi Zui and asked, "So how did you do it? Could you please tell us?"
Jiang Xiaoning spoke with a pleading tone, unsure if Qi was willing to tell them how to survive, since they were still essentially strangers.
It wasn't that Jiang Xia Ning was too pessimistic. When Li Su went in, all the rest of them saw that the boy named He Zhi Lin, who had successfully come out of the waiting room in the second group, was surrounded by his teammates just like Qi Zui. Everyone was asking him what he had experienced inside and how he managed to get out.
However, He Zhilin didn't say anything until the female teacher ushered the next person into the second waiting room, and then the line quieted down.
They couldn't blame themselves for coming out but refusing to tell their companions how to survive, because the system had warned them in advance. However, Li Su didn't receive any punishment after speaking up, so after comparing, He Zhilin excused himself by saying that he was too scared to speak, which actually prevented him from healing the rift in everyone's hearts.
How could I possibly forgive him? This is a matter of life and death.
All excuses become as insignificant as dust in the face of life.
Li Su was willing to tell them entirely because of his kindness. What if... Jiang Xiaoning was just unconsciously thinking the worst? What if Qi Zui didn't want to tell them either?
What should they do then?
So they could only try to avoid eye contact with the doctor, following Li Su's somewhat lucky approach. But obviously, this isn't something everyone experiences; like Qi Zui, he wasn't so lucky, was he?
If Qi Zui doesn't tell them, then everyone who makes eye contact with the doctor will be in danger, and they might not be able to get out successfully like him. They can only wait for the next lucky person to walk out safely after making eye contact with the doctor and then tell them exactly what to do.
Putting aside whether the lucky person is willing to tell everyone about the conditions, it's hard to say whether there will be another lucky person who can walk out unharmed after making eye contact with a doctor.
So far, only three people have come out of all those who went in.
The first was He Zhilin; no one except himself knew what he had gone through inside. The second was Li Su, who told them not to make eye contact with the doctor, or they would be hypnotized. The third was Qi Zui, who was less fortunate, but perhaps experienced something most people would encounter; he made eye contact with the doctor.
No one still considers themselves lucky; everyone tries their best to gain more information and increase their own security.
Huang Chenchuan also fell silent, only looking up at Qi Zui.
He felt that Qi Zui was different from He Zhilin, but he was unwilling to make a hasty conclusion.
After all, He Zhilin seemed approachable at first glance, but who knew...
Not only the players behind them, but even the players in the first and second queues looked towards the third queue, hoping to get some information about survival.
Li Su looked intently at Qi Zui without saying a word. Tears still clung to the boy's thick eyelashes; though he wasn't being affectionate, Qi Zui's heart softened just looking into those eyes.
Tsk, it seems Su Su doesn't want them to die.
Although he didn't care about the lives of these people, his Su Su did, so there was nothing he could do about it.
Qi Zui smiled and said, "Remember your own name."
The female teacher, who was always shouting about following the rules, stood at the back of the line. Her already protruding eyes, hidden behind thick glasses, became even more bulging with anger, as if they were about to fall out of their sockets.
But then, as if they had seen something extremely terrifying, they hesitated and dared not step forward to stop Qi Zui from continuing to reveal the key information for completing the mission.
The broken rules and a kind of terrifying fear were intertwined. On one hand, there was the requirement to prevent the leakage of key information, and on the other hand, there was the feeling of being suppressed by fear. The female teacher's bright red fingernails were broken off, and dark red blood seeped out, but she herself was unaware of it. She stood stiffly in place, staring at Qi Zui.
Qi Zui, seemingly oblivious to the female teacher's gaze, continued, "Don't make eye contact with the doctor. If you do, be sure to keep repeating your name."
Finally, the fear that had been hanging over her disappeared, and the female teacher immediately rushed to the third line, her shrill voice still trembling: "Stand still! Stand still! Follow the rules! Obey the rules!"
A name is given to each person at birth. Remember, no matter what happens, always remember who you are.
"No, I'm new here. Can someone tell me how the female teacher NPC can allow players to reveal the key to quest 2? Wouldn't players who did this before be dead already?"
"You missed too much in the previous part. I suggest you start from the beginning. This instance is completely different from the previous ones."
"But I think it's really interesting! Isn't this much more interesting than the previous life-or-death scenarios? Even the NPCs seem more human now, hahaha!"
"It's hard to disagree; watching NPCs get their comeuppance is actually quite entertaining!"
Knowing the key to clearing side quest 2, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Not only the third team, but even the first two teams cast grateful glances at Qi Zui.
If they could, they would prefer to thank the two big shots in person, but since the female teacher was still there guarding the place, none of them dared to make a move.
Just as Qi Zui had said, Qi Ye walked out of the consultation room unharmed.
Relieved, Huang Chenchuan gratefully made a gesture of clasping his hands together and raising them to his forehead towards his brother Qi and Li Su, before entering the clinic with a sense of ease.
The female teacher stood very close to Li Su, so close that he could hear the sound of her upper and lower teeth grinding together, like sharp fingernails scraping across the blackboard.
This made Li Su feel extremely uncomfortable.
Qi's darkest gaze fell on the angry female teacher, and he clicked his tongue impatiently.
The female teacher froze for a moment, her teeth clenched so tightly she didn't dare move, and quickly ran to the back of another line in her high heels.
"???ah???"
"If I'm not mistaken, is this NPC female teacher afraid of the player???"
"No, my baby is so cute, why would the female teacher be afraid of me, Su Bao'er?"
"Hey upstairs, ever heard of the 'fox borrowing the tiger's power' idiom? This female teacher is clearly afraid of the people around that pretty girl!"
"Aaaaaaah! (Makes a sharp, explosive sound) If that's the case, I'm definitely shipping this pairing!"
"What?! My sunflower seeds just arrived, and I went to pick up some takeout. Why is the chat so lively? What did I miss?"
There were significantly more people from the three teams who successfully returned from the waiting room than before. Jiang Xiaoning noticed that the blond boy's girlfriend had not returned, and the blond boy had been hanging his head since he came out of the clinic.
Jiang Xia Ning couldn't bear to watch any longer. Lovers were being torn apart, never to see each other again. This game was truly vicious.
Not long after, Huang Chenchuan's legs went weak, and he ran out of the third consultation room like a zombie. He stumbled and was about to crash into Li Su. Li Su subconsciously reached out to help him up, but a pair of large hands grabbed him first.
Qi also used his hand to shield Huang Chenchuan in front of Li Su.
Huang Chenchuan burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably: "Waaaaah... Brother Qi..."
He would have been better off not crying, because his crying drew the attention of all the other players on the field.
In an instant, all eyes were on them, and everyone was anxiously wondering if there had been any new developments in the consultation room.
