Strange Tales from the Deep Mountains (Part 5)
Li Su looked up, puzzled, and saw that Doctor Qi was holding a set of exotic clothing, just like the one he was wearing, embroidered with intricate patterns, only the color was different; the clothes Doctor Qi was holding were light pink.
“Everyone who enters the witch village must change. After you change, you will stay in a room with the other five people.” Qi the witch doctor said as he placed the clothes on the bed. “I will wait for you outside the door. Call me when you are done changing.”
"Ah... okay." Li Su nodded blankly.
The clothes Qi the witch doctor gave him were two pieces: a short top and a long skirt that reached his ankles. They were easy to put on, and Li Su changed quickly.
Li Su looked at his brand new outfit with some curiosity. It was too pink. Would it look strange on him?
[Not surprising, it looks great.]
"The baby looks even more adorable in pink!"
"She's even more beautiful in person than the flowers. Drooling.GIF"
"What kind of horror game is this? It's clearly Miracle SuSu, okay? Hehehe..."
After taking a few seconds to accept his new look, Li Su called in the man, Doctor Qi, who was waiting for him outside the door.
When Qi the witch doctor came in, he had several strings of ornaments with silver bells hanging from them, which Li Su felt were similar to the ornaments worn by the villagers.
Qi the witch doctor bent down, put his head close to Li Su's waist, and hung several strings of ornaments on both sides of his waist before slowly standing up. Just as Li Su breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that everything was over, Qi the witch doctor pressed his shoulder and turned him around.
Just as Li Su was about to turn around, he felt a pair of icy hands placed on his head.
"Don't move, I'll braid your hair."
As soon as she finished speaking, her slender fingers began to weave through Li Su's silky hair in an irresistible manner.
Just braid it however you like, since he doesn't know how to tie his hair anyway, and he finds his hair a bit annoying, so this is perfect.
Li Su blinked in lingering fear: "Commander, thank goodness the hair you gave me was real. If it had been a wig, it would have fallen off by now, which would have been so embarrassing."
system:【......】
The system couldn't understand how he came up with this idea, nor did it know how to respond to Li Su's strange and illogical thoughts, so it could only remain silent.
Soon the soft, silvery sound gradually stopped, and Li Su knew that her hair braid was finished.
Sure enough, Qi the witch doctor's voice came from behind, "All done."
Li Su reached behind her and touched the silver bells tucked into her hair, which rang crisply.
Not daring to think about how strange her outfit was, Li Su's fair cheeks flushed slightly as she whispered her thanks to Doctor Qi: "Thank you."
A slight itch came from her neck. Li Su subconsciously looked down and saw a small, crescent-shaped red ornament on her neck.
"What is this?" Li Su touched the pendant on his chest and looked at Qi the witch doctor who walked up to him in confusion.
He didn't see anyone else wearing the necklace.
"Consider this my gift to you." Doctor Qi looked down at him. "Go back. The five newcomers are in that small house in the backyard."
Congratulations to player Li Su for receiving a mysterious gift from an NPC: a necklace.
Gift effect: Unknown. (Please explore on your own.)
Gift strength: Unknown. (Please explore on your own.)
How to use the gift: Unknown. (Please explore on your own.)
This necklace is actually an item from the dungeon?
Li Su touched the pendant, thanked Doctor Qi, and then left in the direction Doctor Qi pointed.
The silver bells on her body jingled crisply with her steps, and the crescent-shaped red pendant on her chest hung quietly to one side. Li Su couldn't resist picking up the pendant again to examine it closely.
Is this really a prop? It looks like an ordinary necklace, and it's not even that pretty.
Li Su examined the pendant from every angle and touched it carefully. Apart from feeling the smooth texture of the necklace itself, she couldn't find any hidden mechanism, so she gave up.
Hurry up, it's getting dark.
There are no electronic devices in this instance, so Li Su has no idea how many hours have passed since she entered. The only way to judge the time is by the sun, but now the sun has completely disappeared, and the entire witch village is shrouded in darkness.
Whether it was psychological or the darkness amplified his inner fear, Li Su always felt that the witch village at night was completely different from the daytime, as if there were always eyes watching him in the dark.
"Commander, is someone behind me?" Li Su lifted her skirt and ran, not daring to look back at all.
The system looked at the dark figures hiding in the shadows, paused for a moment, and then spoke: "...No one is behind you."
Because they are not human.
Of course, the system didn't tell Li Su the second half of the sentence.
Li Su was relieved and quickened her pace to run towards the small house in the backyard that Doctor Qi had mentioned.
There was only one lonely wooden house in the backyard, which looked out of place in the open space, as if it had been prepared specifically for outsiders like them.
It was completely dark when Li Su stopped hesitating and pushed open the door of the wooden house in front of her.
A kerosene lamp sat on the wooden table in the middle of the room. The flame was not very bright, but it was enough to illuminate the entire interior of the wooden house.
The five girls sitting around the wooden table looked at Li Su with great vigilance when he arrived.
"Who are you?" the long-haired girl facing the door asked him in a trembling voice. Li Su closed the door and took a step forward, while the girls at the table shrank back.
Is it really because his appearance doesn't resemble that of a girl?
Li Su stopped in her tracks and stood still.
The girl sitting at the very front on the right lowered her voice and asked, "Are you a player?"
Li Su nodded, fully understanding the girls' wariness. "Yes. There are six players in the dungeon, and I am the sixth player."
"Why should we believe you? What if, what if you're a villager in disguise?" The girl sitting at the front left was probably too scared, her voice was a little hoarse from crying, and even in the dim firelight, Li Su could see her red and swollen eyes.
Sitting at the very front right, Xia Liqiao felt it was inappropriate to question a newcomer like that, but she remained silent.
This wasn't the first instance she had experienced.
She didn't know how to describe her luck. If you said she was lucky, this was the third time she had been inexplicably pulled into this game; if you said she was unlucky, she had always managed to escape death.
Xia Liqiao's silence was also due to the fact that in the previous instance she had experienced, an NPC impersonated a player and only revealed their true colors at the last moment, killing the player who had the evidence and taking the evidence in order to escape.
So now she wasn't sure either. At least all five of them had been sent over at the same time, while the girl in front of her had only rushed over after darkness fell.
Understanding their feelings, Li Su patiently explained, "My first instance was the Silent Eerie School. I only managed to pass it by causing a fire to alarm the police and handing over evidence that students at Shengze Middle School would be eliminated if they misbehaved..."
"Su Su? Is it...is it Li Su?" Li Xue, who had been keeping her head down in the corner, suddenly raised her head.
"It's me..."
Before Li Su could finish speaking, he felt a gust of wind in front of him, and then he was pulled into someone's arms.
"I am Li Xue..." Overwhelmed with joy at meeting an acquaintance again, especially since it was Li Su. After experiencing the first instance, Li Xue now completely trusted Li Su.
She had been sitting with her head down the whole time, and the room was too dimly lit, so she couldn't see Li Su's face clearly. Li Su's voice was also different from the one in the first instance, so she only felt familiar with it when she heard Li Su talking about the first instance.
Suddenly being hugged, Li Su was a little flustered. Fortunately, Li Xue quickly let go of him, turned to face the remaining four girls and said, "I can testify that Su Su is a player. I was with him in the last dungeon."
After Li Xue finished explaining to everyone, she turned to look at his attire as if she wanted to say something, but was interrupted.
“Since we’re all players, come sit down here.” Xia Liqiao patted the seat next to her.
Li Xue looked at Li Su and said, "Go and sit down first."
As soon as Li Su and Li Xue sat down, Xia Liqiao pursed her lips apologetically: "I'm sorry, we were just doing this for safety reasons. There have been cases of NPCs impersonating players before. Lin Ran was also thinking about everyone's safety. I hope you won't be angry."
Lin Ran was the girl who had just questioned whether he was a player.
Xia Liqiao looked at Lin Ran sitting opposite her, and Lin Ran quickly nodded and apologized, saying, "I'm sorry."
Li Su shook her head. "It's okay, I understand. It's good to be more vigilant in the game."
Seeing that Li Su didn't mind, Xia Liqiao smiled and looked at him: "I am Xia Liqiao, can I call you Su Su like Li Xue?"
Li Su nodded and smiled, "Of course."
The girl sitting to Xia Liqiao's right showed two cute little tiger teeth, "My name is Liu Yunyun, you can call me Yunyun. Su Su, you are so pretty."
"Thank you." Li Su pursed her lips shyly.
Li Xue looked at him again, but still didn't say anything.
Why was Li Su, a man, dragged into this? Li Xue couldn't understand.
Li Su smiled when she met Li Xue's gaze. Although the system only said that there would be danger if NPCs knew his true gender, it did not say that players could not tell each other.
However, Li Su has no intention of saying anything at the moment. After all, it's better to avoid trouble. She doesn't even know if she can survive tonight, so there's no need to go into such detail.
"Jiang Yue." The girl facing the gate had red eyes.
The girl next to Jiang Yue looked unwell and after a long pause, she finally spoke: "Gu Qingyan."
“We already got to know each other before you came. Jiang Yue and Gu Qingyan are entering the game for the first time.” Xia Liqiao continued, “This is my third time being pulled in, and Lin Ran’s is her fourth time. As for Li Xue, you two are familiar with her, so I won’t say much more.”
Xia Liqiao succinctly described everyone's situation in just a few words.
Li Su understood the state of Jiang Yue and Gu Qingyan, who were sitting at the very back. It was normal to be scared and at a loss when first pulled into a horror game. He was still a little flustered now that it was his second time, but it was much better than the first time.
There was a soft sobbing sound beside her. Li Su turned her head and saw Lin Ran lying on the table, crying softly, her shoulders shaking slightly from sobs.
"This is the fourth time already. Isn't Lin Ran a bit too timid?"
"So, did you rely entirely on your teammates to carry you before?"
"Don't be suspicious of people right away, okay? Some people are just naturally a little timid."
"Wow, poor girl, this game really goes around ripping off one person at a time?"
Having successfully completed the horror game three times, Lin Ran seemed even more terrified than those who entered the game for the first time. Li Su pursed her lips, unsure of what to say, and finally could only softly comfort her, "Don't be too scared."
Lin Ran didn't say anything, and continued to cry softly, not daring to make her cries too loud.
Xia Liqiao shook her head helplessly, looked away, and after a moment of silence, spoke through a low sob, "What do we do now? This mission didn't give any other hints, it just said that we had to find out the secret of the witch village and leave it safely. We don't know anything else."
"Susu, you're the last one here. Did something happen? Do you have any clues related to the mission? Can you tell everyone?"
As soon as Li Xue spoke, all eyes at the table focused on Li Su's face. Even Lin Ran stopped crying and stared at Li Su with her bloodshot eyes.
