The Silent and Eerie School (Part 1)

The Silent and Eerie School (Part 1)

"Hurry up, stop dawdling!"

Before Li Su could react, a hand reached out from behind and shoved her forward.

Li Su glanced to her side subconsciously.

The person who pushed him was a middle-aged woman who was not tall and had a slightly plump figure. She had short, curly blonde hair, and square gold-rimmed glasses perched on her slightly large nose. As she walked, the flesh on her cheeks trembled slightly with her movements.

Seeing that Li Su was looking at her from the side, the woman became even angrier and said impatiently, "What are you looking at!"

"The newcomers have no manners!" The woman glared at Li Su and continued, "Stand still here!"

After saying that, the woman walked past Li Su in her high heels and stood in front of him. She took out a bunch of keys from her pocket and opened the iron gate in front of her.

The woman pushed open the iron gate, grabbed Li Su who was standing behind her, and shoved her inside without hesitation: "Go in! Reflect on your actions!"

With a "snap!" the iron gate slammed shut again, followed by the sound of a key turning in the lock.

The sound of high heels gradually faded into the distance and eventually disappeared.

Li Su was confused. Just as she put her hand on the doorknob, a deep voice came from behind her, "Don't try, it won't work."

Li Su was startled and subconsciously withdrew her hand. Turning around in the direction of the sound, she discovered several people sitting in the corner of the room.

The man with the buzz cut sitting on the far right looked up, waved to him, and said, "Come on over."

Li Su swallowed hard and carefully observed her surroundings.

There were no lights in the room, except for a tiny, narrow rectangular opening above where the group of people were sitting, through which a sliver of light from outside could seep through. But for a completely dark room, it was better than nothing, which was probably why the group was gathered there—it was the only place with light in the room.

What's the situation now?

When Li Su regained consciousness, he had already been pushed forward by the short, fat woman. He had no idea where he was or who he knew, not even the woman who had pushed him or the group of people sitting in the corner.

"Don't be afraid. We were just locked up here by that woman, just like you, but a little earlier."

The room was so dark that Li Su couldn't be sure who was talking to him, but he could make out that the voice was a low female voice.

Perhaps it was the girl's words that comforted him, or perhaps it was because he was all alone and the darkness seemed to be swallowing him up. Li Su pursed his lips and carefully took a step toward where the group was sitting.

"ah!"

She tripped over something round and hard, lost her balance, and fell to the ground, letting out a low groan.

Her hands instinctively braced themselves on the ground, but they didn't provide much cushioning. Instead, she touched something that looked like a stick, and a sharp pain shot through her knees. Tears welled up in Li Su's eyes instantly.

A male voice asked nervously, "What's wrong? Are you alright?"

"It's nothing..." Li Su endured the excruciating pain in her knees and palms, took a moment to recover, slowly propped herself up, and limped over to the group.

The faint light from the small window in the wall shone on Li Su's head. The boy next to her with the buzz cut opened his eyes wide and said with some surprise, "Hey? So you're a boy? I thought you were a girl just now because of your voice."

He didn't mean to offend the person in front of him; there was no light, and the person was speaking softly, so he really thought she was a young girl.

The boy observed Li Su's appearance by the dim light.

His jet-black hair was slightly wavy, and his fair face was covered in dust from the ground, probably from the fall. His round eyes were misty with pain, and the tip of his small nose was probably pink, but he wasn't sure; the light was too dim for him to see clearly.

How can a boy look like that?

The boy swallowed subconsciously; he seemed a little thirsty.

"Mmm." Li Su didn't know what to say, so she could only respond softly.

The light that could get through the gaps in the wall was still too little. Apart from a faint light above their heads, everyone below them was basically hidden in darkness, and Li Su couldn't see their faces clearly.

The man with the buzz cut moved aside, making room for her, and said to Li Su, "Sit down."

Li Su could sense that the man with the buzz cut meant no harm, so she quietly said "thank you" and sat down next to him.

His knees hurt terribly, and bending them only aggravated the pain. His eyes reddened further, and Li Su bit his lip to keep himself from crying out.

No one spoke in the room anymore, except for the faint sobs. Li Su looked around in the dim light and found that a girl next to the boy who had just spoken to him was crying quietly.

Li Su's heart skipped a beat as she asked, "Where am I?"

As Li Su asked her question, even the girl who was crying softly paused for a moment, and the air became even more eerie. But it only lasted for a moment before the girl's sobs grew louder.

Didn't you receive a system notification?

The girl's low voice rang out again. Li Su looked in the direction of the voice and met a pair of dark eyes, but he still couldn't make out everyone's faces.

Li Su's confusion deepened, and she shook her head, asking, "What is a system?"

The girl was stunned for a moment, unsure how to explain.

The man with the buzz cut sighed and said, "The game's system."

The man with the buzz cut lowered his voice, a hint of melancholy in it, "Although I don't know why, we've all been dragged into a horror game."

Li Su subconsciously repeated the words of the man with the buzz cut: "Horror game?"

Just hearing those words made Li Su's heart start pounding uncontrollably.

Li Su's voice trembled slightly as he asked with difficulty, "What do we need to do?"

"I don't know. Before you came, a few of us checked it out. Our systems only showed one sentence and didn't display any other content."

This time, it was the boy next to the guy with the buzz cut who spoke.

The unknown is the most terrifying thing.

Knowing the task or requirements allows you to find targeted solutions, while the unknown means there are infinite possibilities.

Everyone fell silent; no one knew what awaited them.

"Clatter...clatter..."

The sound of the key being inserted into the lock rang out again, and everyone turned to look at the iron gate.

With each rotation of the key, everyone's breathing became heavier.

Nobody knows what will come in this time.

Abyss or salvation...

"Go in!"

Li Su recognized the voice; it was the same voice of the woman who had brought him in earlier.

The iron gate was closed again.

At the same time, a mechanical voice finally rang in Li Su's mind.

Welcome, player Li Su, to the horror game.

A pale blue fluorescent screen appeared in my mind, and following the mechanical voice, it slowly revealed the contents of the mechanical voice word by word.

Is this the system they were talking about?

Just as Li Su was about to take a closer look at the so-called "system," the pale blue screen in front of him vanished instantly without leaving any trace, as if everything that had just happened was his illusion.

"Two people came this time." The man with the buzz cut looked up at the two people who walked up to them.

Li Su felt two gazes on his back, sticky and slippery, as if snakes were crawling over him.

A layer of fine goosebumps instantly appeared on Li Su's body, and he trembled uncontrollably. Li Su tried his best to control himself and slowly raised his head.

Two boys stood behind him. As Li Su's gaze moved upward, he finally saw their faces clearly. The two were dressed exactly the same, but what was even more bizarre was that they looked exactly alike.

Li Su felt her scream stuck in her throat. She was about to scream, but it was suppressed and she couldn't make a sound.

Li Su didn't understand why he had this feeling, as if he was being stared at by a snake, making him want to run away.

"Please sit down."

Just as the man with the buzz cut was about to get up and move two more seats to the side so that the two of them could sit down, he heard one of them say, "No need, we'll just sit here."

The man with the buzz cut paused for a moment.

He was just about to get up, but he didn't make any physical movement. How did this person know that he was going to give up his seat for the two of them?

Li Su noticed that the two were moving in exactly the same way, with almost no difference between them, and were sitting on his left and right sides respectively.

The strange feeling in her heart intensified, and Li Su felt her heart begin to pound uncomfortably.

The girl sitting opposite Li Su, speaking in a low voice, looked at the two of them curiously and asked, "Are you twins?"

Oh, twins. It seems normal for twins to look alike, and it seems normal for twins to move in unison.

Li Su rationalized the fact that the two looked exactly alike, and even before he realized it, all the abnormalities of the twins had become quite reasonable.

What Li Su didn't know was that he wasn't the only one with this idea; everyone present thought it was reasonable.

Even if everyone knows that twins can't look exactly alike, let alone have the same movements, that's simply impossible.

But it was as if everyone had been given some kind of suggestion; all the strange things about the twins became perfectly normal in their eyes.

"Um."

A low voice came from behind him. Even though the two people were sitting so close to him, Li Su found that he couldn't tell whether the voice came from the person sitting to his left or the person sitting to his right.

Something's wrong. Is there something wrong with his ears too? Was it the twins on the left or the twins on the right who were talking just now?

"Thump, thump, thump..."

My heart was pounding harder and harder.

It hurts so much, it hurts so much...

He can't breathe...

Is he going to die?

A warm hand gently stroked Li Su's back, and her previously agitated heart instantly calmed down, as if everything that had just happened was Li Su's illusion.

Li Su instinctively clutched her heart.

Actually, his heart has always been normal; he just had a hallucination because he was too nervous...

Right?

The boy on the left of the twins asked worriedly, "Are you alright?"

Li Su tried to calm her still slightly erratic breathing and nodded, saying, "I'm fine..."

Upon hearing this, the fingertip that was behind his back quietly brushed against Li Su's back before reluctantly withdrawing it.

Li Su was too nervous to notice that the boy's hand was placed over his heart. His earlier confusion about which of the twins was speaking also vanished without a trace.

A harsh, mechanical voice suddenly rang out.

[All players have been detected; the dungeon "Silent Eerie School" is now officially open.]
