Chapter 1002: Second Brother is in Danger
Huo Tingrui's pupils shrank. When the box hit him, he instinctively took a few steps back, but hit the wall behind him. He didn't avoid it and was hit on the shoulder by the box in an instant.
I don’t know what was in the box, it was very heavy, and when it hit my shoulder, the pain instantly spread throughout my body, and my entire arm was instantly numb from the pain.
Huo Tingrui's face turned pale instantly, and the back of his head hit the wall when he stepped back, making him a little dizzy.
Seeing this, the man in the baseball cap quickly approached, bent down and wanted to pick up the box on the ground before taking action. But out of the corner of his eye he saw someone appear at the other end of the corridor, so he gave up, jumped back to the security door and slipped away.
The person who appeared was Huo Tingrui's assistant. He waited in the lounge outside for a while. Seeing that the boss had not come out yet, he came to look for him.
His face changed drastically and he ran over to support Huo Tingrui, and asked worriedly, "Brother Rui, how are you? Are you okay? Where are you injured?"
Huo Ting was still a little dizzy. After he calmed down for a minute, he looked up, raised his hand and waved, and said softly, "It's okay."
Seeing that his face was frighteningly pale, the assistant was still worried. He glanced at the ground, then bent down to pick up the glasses that had fallen on the ground and handed them to Huo Tingrui to put on.
"I'll call my colleagues at the procuratorate and ask them to send someone to stop that guy." The assistant said as he quickly took out his cell phone to make a call.
Huo Tingrui leaned against the wall without saying a word, with one hand on his shoulder all the time. The back of his hand was a little tight, and the blue veins were clearly visible.
After the assistant finished the call, seeing him like this, he couldn't help but look at the box on the ground again.
The seal of the box had broken because it had just fallen to the ground. The assistant squatted down and carefully turned the box over. When he opened it and saw the things inside, his expression suddenly became very gloomy.
There were only a few ordinary bricks inside, but they were soaked with a large amount of blood. The bricks were dark red and dazzling, and the strong smell of blood was nauseating.
The assistant could hardly control the churning in his stomach and retched twice. He quickly closed the box again.
As a lawyer, you will occasionally encounter losers with extreme personalities. They will feel unbalanced and direct all their hatred towards the lawyer, causing intimidation and threats against their lives.
I have been threatened before, but most of the time I received anonymous letters or threatening couriers. This is the first time I have encountered a situation like today where a threat was committed on the spot, and in the courthouse.
With such an arrogant approach, it can be imagined that the person behind this is definitely not of low origin... Thinking about today's lawsuit, the assistant suddenly felt a chill on his back. He looked at Huo Tingrui with obvious worry in his eyes: "Rui, Brother Rui, they must be warning us."
Huo Tingrui exhaled a breath of foul air, glanced at the things on the ground, and said in a deep voice: "I know."
"So what should we do now? This is just the first appeal. If we continue..." The assistant didn't dare to think about what threats or intimidation he would encounter if he continued the case, or even the cost of his life.
Huo Tingrui closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, his eyes under the lenses were full of cold frost. "Having chosen the profession of lawyer, some things are unavoidable. They don't take the lives of the people as their lives. Should we follow them and go along with them?"
The assistant looked at Huo Tingrui and said, "But it's very dangerous for you to be like this today."
Huo Tingrui sneered, "Would I be afraid?"
The assistant lowered his head and suppressed his bitter smile, but he was afraid.
