Chapter 39 Are You a Bodyguard?
Min Yu picked up the teacup and took a sip elegantly. "After you left, your grandmother talked to me a lot."
Huo Yao thought of the old lady who got up early every day to make breakfast for her and waited silently at the door every night. Suddenly, a warm smile appeared on the corners of her lips. "Is my grandma okay?"
"She's okay, but her mental state isn't as good as before. Maybe it's because she can't bear to see you go." Min Yu said slowly.
Huo Yao lowered his eyes and was silent for a moment. The reason why he didn't wait for her to come back from the hospital when she left was actually because he was afraid that she would be sad.
Seeing this, Min Yu said, "But your adoptive mother has brought her here. If you want to see her, you can go anytime."
Huo Yao hummed softly. She already knew that He Xiaoman would bring her grandmother over, so she was not surprised. However, she looked at Min Yu with a complicated expression and asked, "How do you know so much?"
Even when they were in Fu County, this man lived next door to their house, but he never interacted with them much, and she had never heard her grandmother mention him.
Min Yu raised his eyebrows slightly and answered irrelevantly: "I also know where your grandmother lives now."
Huo Yao heard this and suddenly said with a half-smile: "You know so much, could you be the bodyguard hired by my adoptive mother?"
As she finished her words, the corners of Min Yu's lips twitched violently.
bodyguard?
he?
After a while, he said coldly: "You are really imaginative."
"Thank you for the compliment." Huo Yao replied lightly. After a pause, she said with a hint of disdain: "But to be honest, my adoptive mother probably wouldn't be so generous as to hire a bodyguard."
Min Yu sneered.
At this time, the waiter came in with the dishes.
After the dishes were served and there were only two people left in the box, Min Yu seemed to remember something and asked, "The reason you were stopped outside the gate of No. 1 Middle School this morning was because the security guard took away your admission letter?"
"You know this now?" Huo Yao looked at him again.
Min Yu smiled and said, "I overheard it by accident."
Huo Yao curled his lips, picked up a piece of pork ribs for himself, and muttered in a low voice: "Then you really have a sharp ear."
Min Yu lazily leaned back in his chair, without picking up his chopsticks, and said meaningfully, "It seems like changing schools is not going well for you."
Huo Yao paused, thinking of the phone call from He Xiaoman last night. A hint of sarcasm flashed across her lips, "It's just a villain's mischief."
"Need help?" Min Yu asked playfully.
Huo Yao didn't even raise his head, and said vaguely: "No need."
After dinner, Min Yu paid the bill and asked Huo Yao, "Shall I send you to see your grandmother?"
Huo Yao thought about it and shook his head, "No, it's too late today, let's do it another day."
Min Yu didn't say much, just said: "Then I'll send you the address later."
"OK."
**
It was almost eight o'clock when Huo Yao returned to the Huo family. As soon as Huo Yao entered the door, he clearly felt that the atmosphere at home was a bit strange.
Huo Jinyan and Song Ning were sitting in the living room. The TV was not on and they looked quite serious.
Huo Yao was puzzled for a moment, then said, "Dad, Mom, I'm back."
Song Ning got up from the sofa and walked to Huo Yao. Because he had something on his mind, the smile on his face was quite forced. "How do you feel about the first day of school? Are you not used to it?"
"Not bad." Huo Yao replied calmly. After a two-second pause, she asked again, "Do you have anything to say?"
