Chapter 4 Redemption of the Villain

Chapter 4 Redemption of the Villain

"Hello, hello?"

Who is it this time?

Lele frowned, feeling impatient with the sound that disturbed her rest, and raised her hand to wave away the annoying voice.

"Hiss——" The movement caused the wound on her back to hurt. The sharp pain instantly broke her drowsiness and she suddenly opened her eyes.

Everything in front of her was pitch black, and she almost forgot that she was still locked in the small dark room.

He propped himself up little by little, his eyes habitually looking towards the narrow gap at the bottom of the door. That was the opening for delivering food, and it was also the only source of light in this cage.

"Bang, bang..." Several more dull knocking sounds were heard.

Lele just glanced blankly towards the door, and a feeling of boredom wrapped around him like a vine.

"Is anyone there?" The child outside the door leaned close to the opening and asked timidly.

A bad thought popped up without warning. Lele silently moved out of bed, tiptoed on the cold ground, and slowly approached the door.

Just as that voice hesitated and was about to sound again...

"Ah!" She suddenly screamed at the crack in the door.

"Waaaaaaaahh ...

"Who the hell is that? Howling in the middle of the night!" The thin woman's sarcastic curse followed.

Then, outside the door, there was the sound of hurried running and a woman limping after someone.

Lele grinned and sneered silently, and the smile seemed particularly cold in the darkness.

"You little bastard, you run so fast! Don't let me catch you!" The woman turned back in frustration and put her face close to the crack in the door. Her cloudy eyes peeked in viciously, and her resentment almost overflowed.

Lele knew that if the key was in the woman's hands, she would definitely not escape a beating tonight. She stared back at those eyes without flinching, her gaze as still as an ancient well.

"You little beast, you dare to glare at me? Just wait for me!" The woman's voice rose higher, and there was a hint of anger and shame in the sharpness of her voice.

Lele just stood there, watching the woman drag her feet away cursing, then she turned around and moved back to the bed in small steps.

Fortunately, this bed was just a simple camp bed and not very high, otherwise it would have taken her a lot of effort to get into bed.

No one bothered her for the next few days, and the bruises on her back no longer looked so hideous, at least they no longer caused her to feel so painful that she felt dizzy whenever she moved.

On the day she was released from prison, her aunt secretly brought her a biscuit, which she hid in her schoolbag with ease.

Back in the dormitory, on the left side of the bed that used to be the fat girl's, lay a strange little girl. Lele didn't pay much attention. The children in the welfare home were like flowing water. Some were taken away, some died of illness, and too many were adopted and sent away. Anyway, she couldn't recognize them all.

"Ah! You're out!" When the strange girl saw her, her eyes suddenly lit up, as if she had discovered some treasure. She immediately left her chatting partner and ran over excitedly.

She wanted to hold Lele's hand, but Lele subconsciously avoided her. She smiled awkwardly and introduced herself in a very familiar way: "Hello Lele, my name is Li Xin, and I'm new here."

Hearing the inappropriate joy in her voice, Lele lowered her eyelashes, zipped up her schoolbag, and sneered in her heart, "She's just a new fool, what's there to be happy about coming here?"

"I was the one who called you that night. I wanted to bring you food, but..." Li Xin explained to herself.

It turned out to be this idiot. Lele was too lazy to listen to her nonsense, so she walked straight to her bed, lay down face down, and used silence to build a wall to isolate herself from the outside world.

Li Xin kept buzzing in her ear.

Fortunately, after a while, the other children pulled her aside and whispered to her in a low voice like a mosquito: "Xinxin, how do you talk to her? She..."

"That's right, she's weird..."

The tiny sounds gradually faded away. Starving and freezing in the small dark room, his injuries still not fully healed, fatigue washed over him like a tide, and Lele soon fell asleep again.

Ever since Li Xin came, Lele has had a tail that he can't get rid of. It keeps calling "Lele, Lele" every day, which is very annoying.

"Don't follow me anymore!" Lele raised his hand and pushed her hard.

"Ah!" Li Xin didn't expect that she would reach out to push him. He lost his balance and rolled down the stairs.

Lele walked down with a stern face and expressionless expression, reached out and pulled her up, "What's the matter? I told you not to follow, you asked for it." He pursed his lips and spoke in a very stiff tone.

"Hehe, it's okay." Li Xin breathed in with a grin. Fortunately, the steps were not high, and only her ankle was swollen. However, she still had a heartless smile on her face.

Lele turned her head away uncomfortably and helped her go find the aunt.

"Why do you always follow me?" Lele's voice was muffled.

Li Xin was bouncing around so funny that it was almost unbearable. She said cheerfully, "At first, when I saw you always locked up in the dark room, I felt sorry for you and wanted to bring you food. But when I secretly watched you for the first time..."

She paused, her smile widening. "I just think you're so special, so, so cool! I like you just the way you are, and I want to be your friend!"

The series of "special" hit Lele dizzy. Is she special? There are many children like her in the welfare home. What is so special about her?

She pursed her lips again and squeezed out only one word from her nose: "Oh."

Li Xin seemed to have received some great signal, and tried to get close to her in surprise: "You agreed? Did you agree?" His body suddenly leaned forward due to loss of balance.

Lele wasn't used to being too close to people, so she took a few steps back. Without her support, Li Xin was about to fall forward.

She hurriedly caught it, but was hugged by Li Xin. She heard her rising voice: "Then we are good friends!"

Lele didn't comment, and there was still no expression on her face, but she took the initiative to help her up again.

"I'm telling you..."

Along the way, Li Xin chattered about a lot of random things, such as what kind of people her parents were, how she came to the orphanage, and what she wanted to do after arriving at the orphanage...

She talked about everything under the sun, and she kept on talking, making Lele want to sew her mouth shut.

"Le Le, you are so cool." Li Xin pouted, dissatisfied with her lack of response.

"Yeah," Lele muttered. She had no idea about her parents, and she felt lost. As for the future? She didn't have time to think that far ahead. For now, being alive and avoiding being scolded or beaten was all that mattered.

The two became friends and Li Xin sprained her foot, so the job of serving meals fell on Lele.

She handed the two bowls to the woman with a cold face, ready to be ridiculed by her. However, after a while, the woman glanced at Li Xin and said nothing, just rolling her eyes while serving them food.

Lele turned to look at Li Xin who was sitting quietly in her seat and felt a little strange.

"Why are you still hanging around? Others don't want to get food." The woman knocked on the pot with a spoon in dissatisfaction, urging her to get out.

Lele brought two bowls of bland food and walked over to Li Xin and sat down. He looked at Li Xin's face, which looked paler than others, with a scrutinizing gaze for a long time.

"Hey, what are you doing? Come sit down and eat." Li Xin asked her to sit down.

Lele sat down slowly, thoughtfully.

Li Xin felt her scalp tingle under her gaze, and then she smiled and explained, "Alright, alright! I surrender! Lele, your look is too scary! Actually... I didn't tell the whole truth. The dean is my cousin. Everything I said before... was all made up. My parents are too busy to take care of me, so they threw me here."

Lele didn't say anything, his eyes still fixed on her overly pale skin.

Li Xin almost raised her hands in surrender. She dared to guarantee that no one could hide anything under Lele's sharp eyes.

"Also, I'm sick, and the doctor said there's no cure," Li Xin said lightly, but her brows furrowed slightly. "I've been in the hospital since I was a kid, and I really, really hate hospitals, so I came here!"

After listening to this, Lele was silent for a few seconds, then lowered his head and started eating.

"Don't you have anything to say?" Li Xin pointed at her and exclaimed in disbelief.

"What?" Lele raised his head and looked at her in confusion.

"For example... comfort me and say 'it's going to be alright'! Or hug me?" Li Xin gestured with her arms open, trying to imitate that heartwarming scene.

"..." Lele's mouth twitched, and his tone was as indifferent as if he was talking about the weather today: "Everyone will die. There is nothing to comfort them."

"Wow!" Li Xin's eyes lit up even brighter, as if she had discovered a new world. "Le Le, you're really cool! You're different from everyone else! I just like you like this!"

She tried to get closer again, but Lele firmly separated her with her arms, "Go away."

If she doesn't have long to live, why do you still have to be friends with her? If she dies, all will be over, but you waste your time being sad and upset. It's not fair.

She doesn't have much time of her own, and it is very precious.

Cut losses in time, this was the first rule that Lele learned without any instruction. She no longer paid any attention to this short-lived ghost.

Li Xin, however, was like an invincible cockroach. He tried every possible way to make peace, secretly slipping her the candy he had saved, clumsily folding paper cranes, and deliberately shouting funny things when she passed by...

But every time, he was blocked by Lele's cold face and unhesitating turn.

After a few months of this, the shadow behind Lele finally disappeared. Life returned to the starting point, and he was alone, enduring the endless abuse from the thin woman and the food in his bowl that was always less than others.

No different, she told herself.

A few days later, she was called over by the dean.

This was her first time in the dean's office. Instead of the room full of RMB and treasures that Lele had imagined, there was only a pile of files and books stacked randomly.

"Li Xin is calling you." The dean pinched his eyebrows and handed the phone to her.

Lele didn't take it because she didn't want to listen.

The dean was so angry that he slammed the table and stood up, pointing at her nose and cursing: "You don't know what's good for you! You are a heartless and ungrateful ungrateful person!"

Later I learned that it was Li Xin's last phone call before her death. She begged her wealthy parents to adopt Lele or leave some money for her.

However, Li Xin's parents were already overwhelmed by the grief of losing their daughter and had no time to care for Lele, who was far away in the countryside. So, Lele continued to suffer in the welfare home.

After finishing the tasks assigned by the welfare home, Lele often sat alone on the cold steps outside the dormitory building, staring at the gray sky in a daze.

She also got a serious illness that was said to require a lot of money to treat. Would she end up like Li Xin and die before she could see him again?

She also didn't know whether she was expecting Li Xin to recover and come back on the day she left, or for her to disappear from her sight forever.

Anyway, the person was already dead, so she was indeed a little sad, but not much.

Her original decision was absolutely correct.

Therefore, she will not try to make any friends anymore, as it would be too unfair to others.

"Hello?" A timid voice with a deliberately familiar sound came from behind her without warning.

Someone patted her on the shoulder, interrupting her chaotic and complicated thoughts.

Lele was puzzled. How could someone take the initiative to pat her on the shoulder? Not everyone was the dean's niece.

"I'm new here..."

She turned her head but before she could see the person in front of her, there was a sudden roar in her ears, and her head seemed to be torn in half. She covered her head and tried to open her eyes.

And in front of my eyes, there was a white mass of dense lines.

[System, do you think this will really work? ]

[Oh, don't worry about it. Just imitate this. This is her white moonlight, it will work!]

[Okay, okay, I hope it works this time! Go for the villain redemption plan!]

After this incomprehensible conversation entered my eardrums, the buzzing sound suddenly disappeared like the tide. The severe headache also subsided instantly, leaving behind an eerie clarity.

When I opened my eyes again, I saw a little girl opposite me wearing a brand new but cheap-looking white dress.

He was trying hard to put on a stiff, bright smile, his eyes were filled with cautious flattery and a barely perceptible scrutiny as if observing prey.

Is she imitating Li Xin?

A plan to redeem the villain?

What is a villain?

Is it her?

nausea.
