Chapter 144 Choosing Between Two Sons

Everyone present was shocked. Qian Kun's subordinates even doubted whether they had heard correctly. How dare Chen Zhennan be so arrogant?

The atmosphere in the hall froze instantly, as if even the air itself had been frozen, and everyone's eyes were focused on Chen Zhennan and Qian Kun.

Qiankun's face was dark as he stared intently at Chen Zhennan, a slight smirk playing on his lips: "Beat me up? This is the Ning Prince's Mansion. I'd like to see how you're going to beat me up."

Chen Zhennan slowly shook his head, a faint smile playing on his lips. "No rush. I still have to get back before dark. Before I came, I told my men that if I don't get back before dark, your two sons will definitely lose their heads."

Upon hearing this, Qian Kun's guards exchanged bewildered glances, their anger ignited.

One of the guards couldn't hold back any longer. He roared and drew his sword, pointing it at Chen Zhennan. The flash of the sword reflected the ferocity on his face.

"How dare you speak so arrogantly, Chen Zhennan! If you dare to utter another word of disrespect, I will make sure you die a horrible death!"

Upon hearing this, a cold glint flashed in Chen Zhennan's eyes, and he gently waved to the person behind him.

Yan Shiyu immediately understood, and with lightning speed, he walked to the center of the hall, a cold smile on his face, and beckoned to Qian Kun's guards.

"The commander-in-chief was being too kind in scolding you. Come on, let me see if your mouth is tougher or your neck is tougher."

Inside the main hall of the Prince Ning's mansion, the atmosphere was so tense that it seemed as if a single spark could ignite it.

Qian Kun's face was also full of anger. He gave a heavy "hmm," and then the guard behind him took a step forward to stand opposite Yan Shiyu.

Yan Shiyu had not yet drawn his long sword when he beckoned to the guard with his finger again.

"I'll give you a chance; you make the first move."

Yan Shiyu's words were full of contempt, instantly igniting the guard's anger.

With a roar, he charged straight at Yan Shiyu like a tiger descending a mountain, his sword strikes like a rainbow, instantly closing in on Yan Shiyu.

However, Yan Shiyu remained as steady as a towering mountain, watching helplessly as the sword tip approached him.

Just when everyone thought he was doomed, his figure flickered like a ghost, and he instantly circled behind the guard despite the guard's attack.

Yan Shiyu smiled coldly, and the blade suddenly extended, slicing open the guard's throat with a backhand motion.

The guard's pupils dilated suddenly, his face filled with disbelief, and his longsword flew from his hand.

Blood gushed out like a fountain, staining the white ground red. The guard clutched his throat, his face filled with despair, and knelt helplessly on the ground. After struggling for a moment, he slowly collapsed.

The entire hall fell into a deathly silence, the faces of the civil and military officials filled with shock and fear.

Qian Kun's expression changed from anger to shock, his eyes flashing with disbelief.

Who exactly is this person, that he could kill his most trusted bodyguard with a single blow?

Yan Shiyu flicked his wrist, sheathed the blade, and slowly turned back to Chen Zhennan's side, like an elegant falcon returning to its nest.

Chen Zhennan shrugged, slowly picked up his wine glass, and a faint aroma of wine filled the air.

He glanced at the crowd out of the corner of his eye, a slight smile playing on his lips, but he said nothing.

Qian Kun's face was ashen, his heart burning with rage. He clenched his teeth. Although the guards had been killed, he could only swallow his anger and secretly ponder how to retaliate.

He ordered his men to drag the guards' bodies away and give them a proper burial. He turned around and stared directly at Chen Zhennan, asking in a deep voice, "I have 80,000 troops surrounding you, and you come to my Ning Prince's Mansion to start a massacre. Isn't that a bit inappropriate?"

Chen Zhennan smiled slightly, not answering Qian Kun's question, but instead changing the subject and asking, "I want to ask you, if only one of Qian Zijing and Qian Zihao could live, who would you choose?"

Upon hearing this, Qian Kun felt as if thunder had struck his heart. He slammed his fist on the table, burning with rage, and pointed at Chen Zhennan as if he wanted to bite him to pieces.

"What do you mean?"

Chen Zhennan smiled calmly. The angrier Qian Kun got, the calmer he became. He explained casually, "I didn't mean anything by it. I just found it interesting, but you have to make a choice."

Upon hearing this, Qian Kun realized that Chen Zhennan's trip was not for serious business, but rather for having fun.

Qian Kun's anger intensified, like a powder keg that could explode at any moment.

"Someone come here!"

Qian Kun shouted, his voice like thunder, and instantly hundreds of soldiers wielding swords and knives rushed out from outside the hall, aggressively approaching Chen Zhennan.

Chen Zhennan remained seated, expressionless and composed, as if none of this concerned him.

Seeing Qian Kun so angry, Chen Zhennan tried to comfort him, saying earnestly, "Don't be so angry. Getting angry is bad for your health. You can't do anything to me anyway, so it's better to calm down."

Qian Kun had no interest in playing these pointless word games with Chen Zhennan and asked in a deep voice, "Just tell me, what exactly is your purpose?"

Qian Kun wasn't interested, but Chen Zhennan became increasingly happy.

"Alright, your army of 80,000 is indeed quite large, but I still need an answer to my question. When I get back, I can release one of them. You have to choose between your two sons. Which one do you choose?"

Qian Kun gritted his teeth, his anger churning inside him like a trapped beast, eager to pounce on its prey at any moment.

However, after some thought, he managed to suppress his anger.

Finally, after a long internal struggle, he made a difficult decision.

"I choose Zijing, release him."

Chen Zhennan nodded slightly, slowly stood up, and prepared to leave with Yan Shiyu and the others.

"Alright, I'll go back and release them right away, and tell your men to get out of here."

Qian Kun took a deep breath, his heart churning, but he had no choice but to wave his hand and signal, "Everyone, step back and let them go."

These words struck like a thunderbolt, shocking the assembled military officers, who rose to their feet, exchanging bewildered glances with varying expressions.

“Prince Ning! Letting Chen Zhennan go will cause endless trouble. This is the best opportunity to get rid of him!” a military officer said excitedly, his face full of anxiety and resentment.

Qian Kun, his face dark, turned and coldly looked at his subordinates, his eyes flashing with anger.

"Are you planning to trade my son's life for Chen Zhennan's?"

These words struck the hearts of the generals like a heavy blow, leaving them speechless and silent.

Qian Kun waved his hand again, and the soldiers outside the hall made way. Chen Zhennan didn't say anything more and led Yan Shiyu and the others slowly out of the Ning Prince's Mansion.

Qian Kun watched Chen Zhennan's departing figure, a fierce killing intent flashing in his eyes.

"Issue the order: no one is to make any rash moves against Chen Zhennan. Rescue Zihao within three days. If Zihao is not rescued within three days, send 80,000 troops to surround and kill Chen Zhennan, leaving no one alive!"
