Chapter Seventy: Divine Soldiers Descend from the Sky

Chen Zhennan walked forward with his hands behind his back, his face solemn.

“Zhang Xiao, although the Great Zhou is located in the southwest, this place is already within the territory of the Great Wu. If the stalemate continues, the Great Wu army will definitely have to continue to retreat. By then, the weather will turn cold, and the court will have neither money nor food. What chance will there be to turn the tide? The only option is to burn our boats!”

Zhang Xiao nodded repeatedly after listening to Chen Zhennan's analysis, but he still had some doubts.

"General, how should I solve these problems? How can an army with no morale possibly win a great victory?"

Chen Zhennan smiled slightly: "You don't need to worry about that. I will make the first move tomorrow, and morale will surely be boosted. Give the order that all soldiers get a good rest tonight and have a full lunch tomorrow. There is no need to save on rations."

Zhang Xiao nodded solemnly and said, "Yes, sir. I will send someone to do it right away."

After saying this, Zhang Xiao immediately ordered an envoy to be sent to the Great Zhou army camp to deliver a declaration of war to Zhou Jianjia.

The messenger rode at full speed, raising a cloud of dust, and soon arrived at the Great Zhou army camp.

He entered the tent and, upon seeing Zhou Jianjia, relayed Chen Zhennan's words verbatim.

Zhou Jianjia was already seething with anger because of what had happened before. When she heard that Zhang Xiao had actually taken the initiative to challenge her, her eyebrows furrowed, her beautiful eyes filled with rage, and she slammed her hand on the table and stood up.

"That Zhang Xiao! How dare he be so arrogant! He's practically courting death! How could I be afraid of him?"

Upon hearing this, the old marshal Li Guangyi was startled.

He stroked his beard, frowned, and pondered to himself that there must be something fishy about this. Although Zhang Xiao was somewhat reckless, he wouldn't be so foolish.

But Jianjia is in a bad mood this week, and she will definitely not listen to any advice.

Although Li Guangyi found this matter quite strange, seeing the strength and power of the Great Zhou army, he did not think they would lose to the Great Wu, and could only sigh helplessly.

On the Dawu military camp side, the soldiers were filled with fear upon hearing that the decisive battle would take place the next day.

Looking at the dwindling grain supplies and thinking of their families far away, they were filled with resentment.

Some soldiers muttered under their breath, "What are we going to do? Are we going to die here?"

Some generals clenched their fists, their eyes filled with determination. They thought, "Since the commander has made the decision, we have no choice but to fight to the death."

The entire military camp was shrouded in a tense and oppressive atmosphere, as if a storm was about to break.

Zhou Jianjia stood in the camp, full of confidence, as if she could already see the dawn of victory.

She immediately ordered the entire army to rest and prepare for the decisive battle the next day. In an instant, a tense atmosphere filled the entire camp, and the soldiers were eager to meet the upcoming battle.

The next morning, as sunlight streamed into the tents, Zhou Jianjia stood before the army, her bearing heroic and spirited. She loudly commanded, "Today's battle concerns the glory of our Great Zhou! Bring out all the food and let us eat and drink to our hearts' content. After we've eaten and drunk our fill, we'll head to the decisive battleground!"

After breakfast, Zhou Jianjia took the lead, leading her army in a grand march towards the battlefield of the decisive battle.

It was an extremely vast flat area, with no space to the eye, as if it were a stage specially prepared by heaven for this great battle.

Zhou Jianjia arrived early with her army, which was neatly arranged like a winding dragon, exuding an awe-inspiring aura.

However, the situation was quite different for Chen Zhennan.

The soldiers learned last night that the decisive battle was today, and most of them tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

As noon approached, a scout from the front lines rushed in to report: "General, the Great Zhou army has completed its assembly."

Hearing this, Zhang Xiao was extremely anxious. His brows furrowed, and large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. He anxiously asked Chen Zhennan, "General, when will the army set off? The Great Zhou army is already in full battle array. If we delay any longer, we may lose the initiative!"

Chen Zhennan remained calm, arms crossed, eyes deep, and simply said, "Have the army hold its ground and everyone go to sleep."

Zhang Xiao stared wide-eyed, his face full of confusion, and asked anxiously, "General, what...why is this?"

Chen Zhennan remained unmoved and said solemnly, "I have my own plans. You don't need to ask any more questions. Just carry out the orders."

Zhang Xiao had no choice but to convey the order with a heavy heart.

Although it was autumn, the daytime sun was still unbearably hot, and the dry autumn wind was blowing fiercely, making people restless and irritable.

Zhou Jianjia was getting increasingly impatient. She paced back and forth, wondering what Chen Zhennan was up to. Was he perhaps afraid of a fight?

Time passed slowly, and it was already Shenshi, about 3:30 pm.

The soldiers of the Great Zhou were parched, their lips were cracked and peeling, and their eyes were listless.

The long wait wore down their patience, and physical exhaustion and mental frustration intertwined.

Just then, a cavalry unit of three hundred men, dressed in black, suddenly appeared like a black lightning bolt.

They were Chen Zhennan's well-trained special forces team, each with agile figures and cold eyes.

Riding on tall horses, they sped swiftly towards the Great Zhou army. They threw grenades with all their might, and in an instant, huge explosions rose and fell, deafening everyone.

The explosion's flames and thick smoke instantly filled the air. The drowsy soldiers of the Great Zhou were terrified by the sudden attack, instantly becoming alert, but they were all extremely flustered.
