In an instant, flames shot into the sky from where the rocket landed, quickly spreading and igniting a raging forest fire.
Fueled by the wind, the fire raged wildly, leaving scorched earth in its wake, like the legendary fires of hell descending upon the world.
The situation was exactly the same as the daytime skirmish. Zhou Jianjia's side was completely unprepared, and the soldiers were thrown into chaos. They scattered in all directions amidst the firelight and shouts of battle, like ants on a hot plate.
Zhou Jianjia was trembling with anger and shouted, "Calm down, everyone! Calm down!"
But the situation was completely out of control. She watched helplessly as her soldiers were engulfed in flames and killed by the enemy, her heart filled with despair and anger.
"Retreat! Retreat now!"
Under the cover of night, the firelight illuminated Chen Zhennan's resolute face as he stood on the battlefield where the fire had just ended, his gaze deep and intense. Soldiers around him busied themselves, rapidly digging firebreaks according to his orders to prevent the fire from spreading further.
"Commander, the firebreak is in place, and the fire will not spread any further." A lieutenant stepped forward and reported on the mission that had just been completed.
Chen Zhennan nodded, his gaze shifting from the firelight to the dark forest, the direction Zhou Jianjia had retreated in.
"Zhou Jianjia, you must be having a real headache right now," Chen Zhennan muttered to himself. "You thought I was your enemy, but now, I'm Song Xuan's man. How are you going to settle accounts with Song Xuan?"
"General, what should we do next?" The deputy general's voice interrupted Chen Zhennan's thoughts.
Chen Zhennan snapped out of his daze and said calmly, "We won't pursue her. Let Zhou Jianjia go back and think carefully about how to settle the score between her and Song Xuan. Pass down the order to strengthen security in case of Zhou Jianjia's retaliation."
