Chapter 42 You Lost

Chen Zhennan turned his head and looked around. The Yan Kingdom army was gradually gathering towards the camp, and there were many of them.

"Take him with you, let's go to the main tent!"

Chen Zhennan never intended to kill Jiang Wenyu. Sometimes, keeping the enemy alive is more useful than letting them die.

Dong Ning nodded emphatically, then helped Jiang Wenyu into the carriage and drove it back towards the main tent.

Three-quarters of an hour later, Jiang Wenyu's army gradually returned to camp, but no one dared to make any rash moves, and the two armies faced each other without making a sound.

Chen Zhennan sat next to Jiang Wenyu, a pistol pressed against Jiang Wenyu's temple, watching the ever-growing Yan army in front of them.

"Jiang Wenyu, listen up. Tell your army to lay down their weapons, or I won't hesitate to blow your head off." Chen Zhennan's voice was deep and powerful, with a hint of murderous intent in his eyes.

Jiang Wenyu's forehead was covered in cold sweat; Chen Zhennan was clearly not joking.

His voice trembled, but he still tried to remain firm: "Chen Zhennan, my army has returned. If you don't want to be hacked to death, you'd better surrender obediently, and I might give you a quick death."

Chen Zhennan pursed his lips and sneered, "Give me a quick death? Who do you think you are now? An emperor? You're a prisoner of hell! Don't make me say it a second time."

Jiang Wenyu gritted his teeth and looked at the gun pointed at him.

The next second, Jiang Wenyu suddenly reached out and grabbed the pistol from Chen Zhennan's hand, scrambling back two steps before aiming at Chen Zhennan.

"Chen Zhennan, you've lost! Kneel down and surrender to me, or I'll send you to your death right now!"

Faced with Jiang Wenyu's taunts, Chen Zhennan's lips curled into a cold smile. His composure even made Jiang Wenyu a little flustered.

"Jiang Wenyu, do you really think this gun can decide everything? Come on, try shooting it."

Upon hearing this, Dong Ning rushed to Chen Zhennan's side and stared coldly at Jiang Wenyu.

"General, are you kidding me? This thing is incredibly powerful! Get out of here right now, I'll shield you!"

Chen Zhennan couldn't help but feel moved. A brother who can take a bullet for you on the battlefield is priceless.

"Dong Ning, get out of the way. If he can kill me, then it's fate. There's no need to waste your life."

"General!"

"Get out of the way!"

Dong Ning gritted her teeth, glanced back at Chen Zhennan, and then turned to step aside.

After Dong Ning stepped aside, Jiang Wenyu did not hesitate and pulled the trigger heavily, but the expected gunshot did not come, only the crisp sound of metal clashing.

Jiang Wenyu was suddenly panicked, his face filled with disbelief.

"Impossible! How could this be? I saw you used it this way, so why doesn't it work in my hands? Is it really destined that you will live? Impossible!"

Chen Zhennan slowly stood up, took a step forward, and deftly snatched the pistol with clean and swift movements.

"Perhaps, it really is my destiny, and your fate is also my destiny. It doesn't matter if you don't want to surrender, as long as you listen to me."

As he spoke, Chen Zhennan gently turned on the small mechanism on the side of the pistol, which was the safety catch.

He raised his pistol, aimed it at the ground next to Jiang Wenyu, and pulled the trigger twice in quick succession. The gunshots echoed in the tent, startling Jiang Wenyu so much that he stumbled backward and fell to the ground.

The gunshot startled the birds into scattering. Jiang Wenyu's face turned pale, his eyes filled with fear, and his body trembled uncontrollably.

He had almost lost his mind, but in his last shred of lucidity, he still gritted his teeth and refused to surrender.

Chen Zhennan looked at Jiang Wenyu and couldn't help but let out a cold smile.

“Jiang Wenyu, it doesn’t matter if you don’t surrender. I will use the emperor to command the other lords. Dong Ning, put Jiang Wenyu under house arrest. No one is allowed to approach him.”

Dong Ning accepted the order and said in a deep voice, "Yes, Commander, I will ensure his safety."

After Jiang Wenyu was taken away, Chen Zhennan put away his pistol and walked out of the tent.

Behind him were his eight thousand cavalrymen, and in front of him was the army of more than two hundred thousand of the Great Yan.

Standing before the Yan Kingdom's army, Chen Zhennan's face was stern, his eyes resolute, and the long sword in his hand gleamed coldly in the sunlight.

He didn't preach any grand principles; he simply used concise and powerful words to make the Yan soldiers understand their situation.

"Soldiers, your emperor is in my hands. As long as you do not act rashly, I guarantee his safety!"

Chen Zhennan's voice was loud and clear, piercing through the tranquility of the early morning and carrying far.

The soldiers in the Yan army looked at each other, their spirits suddenly dropping. Even the emperor had been captured; what would become of them?

“We cannot take any risks; the Emperor’s safety is of utmost importance,” a Yan general whispered to his colleague, his face filled with worry.

The other person nodded and sighed helplessly, "Yes, we must remain calm, but never mind, let's order the army to retreat and not provoke Chen Zhennan. Let's think of another way to negotiate."

As the Yan army retreated, Chen Zhennan's troops completely controlled the camp. Despite facing an army of over 200,000 men with only 8,000 cavalry, Chen Zhennan appeared calm and composed, seemingly without any pressure.

Three days later, as night fell, the camp was brightly lit. Chen Zhennan invited Song Yunming to enter Jiang Wenyu's camp together. The three of them sat in a circle, and someone brought over a fragrant roasted lamb and several jars of aged wine.

However, the atmosphere was not as pleasant as the food and wine. Jiang Wenyu's face was ashen. As the emperor, he was under house arrest, his dignity was damaged, and his resentment was hard to express.

Looking up at Chen Zhennan and Song Yunming, I noticed that they both had worried expressions on their faces.

"Chen Zhennan, you've captured me, so why are you still frowning?"
