At Chen Zhennan's command, groups of twenty men each, totaling three thousand, boarded one hundred and fifty warships in a grand procession.
After boarding the ship, Chen Zhennan pulled Lin Cheng and Yan Shiyu into the cabin and had a banquet set up.
"Relax, everyone. This is my first time at sea. Let's have a drink and chat first."
Yan Shiyu slowly sat down upon hearing this, but Lin Cheng remained standing to the side.
"Your Majesty, I am the commander-in-chief of the navy, so it is best if I do not drink alcohol."
Chen Zhennan smiled, a hint of nonchalance in his smile, and reached out to pull Lin Cheng down to sit.
"At this speed, how long will it take to get to that little island?"
Lin Cheng thought for a moment, then looked out the window as if calculating the flight distance.
"If the wind is favorable, it should take about six days to arrive."
"So, there's no need to be so tense today. Even if something happens, the brothers below can handle it."
Hearing Chen Zhennan say this, Lin Cheng's brows finally relaxed, and his body gradually relaxed as well.
The atmosphere inside the cabin gradually warmed up, filled with the aroma of wine, laughter, and conversation, like waves crashing against a warship, creating a melodious tune.
As the last rays of the setting sun disappeared below the horizon, the laughter and clinking of glasses among the three gradually subsided.
Slightly tipsy, the three staggered out of the cabin.
With a satisfied smile on his face, Chen Zhennan stood on the deck and took a deep breath of the sea breeze, the salty air making him feel refreshed.
His gaze fell on the shimmering sea, where the golden ripples resembled countless leaping gold coins, a breathtaking sight.
Chen Zhennan opened his arms as if to embrace the whole world.
"This scenery is truly breathtaking," Chen Zhennan exclaimed, his voice tinged with a hint of intoxication, but mostly filled with admiration for the beautiful view before him.
As night fell, Chen Zhennan returned to his cabin and fell into a deep sleep. The swaying sensation made him feel as if he had returned to his childhood.
He remembered that his mother's warm embrace and gentle rocking made him feel incredibly safe and comfortable.
Now, the sea is like a mother's embrace, allowing him to find long-lost peace in the waves.
By the morning, the sky was clear and the sunlight spread across the sea like golden silk.
Chen Zhennan stepped out of the cabin again and saw Lin Cheng standing at the bow, his eyes blazing as he gazed into the distance.
Chen Zhennan tiptoed to Lin Cheng's side. Just as he was about to say something, a wave suddenly surged like an angry dragon, and the warship rocked violently, as if it were about to throw him into an endless abyss.
Chen Zhennan lost his balance and reached out in terror, trying to grab something.
"Your Majesty, be careful!"
Lin Cheng's voice boomed like thunder, and his movements were swift and decisive as he grabbed Chen Zhennan's arm and steadied him.
"Phew, that was close!" Chen Zhennan gasped for breath, a grateful smile on his face.
Lin Cheng nodded, his face remaining serious.
"Your Majesty, it's best to hold onto the mast when you come out, as the wind and waves at sea are unpredictable."
Chen Zhennan nodded, gripped the mast beside him tightly, and took a few deep breaths.
"The sea is truly unpredictable."
Steadying himself, Chen Zhennan slowly raised his head and looked into the distance.
A gentle sea breeze, carrying a salty, damp scent, wafted through my eyes as I gazed dreamily at the boundless sea.
Gradually, Chen Zhennan's vision became blurry, as if the whole world was dissolving into this vast blue expanse.
At first, he managed to remain calm, but with each rocking of the boat, his heart pounded with each movement.
Suddenly, Chen Zhennan felt dizzy, and his body swayed involuntarily, as if he had been pushed by an invisible hand.
He turned around hastily, slumped onto the deck, and gripped the cold wooden planks tightly with both hands, trying to steady his swaying body.
Upon seeing this, Lin Cheng immediately bent down and asked with concern, "What's wrong, Your Majesty? Did I frighten you just now?"
Lin Cheng's voice carried a hint of tension, his brows were furrowed, and his eyes were full of worry.
Chen Zhennan shook his head slightly, but as soon as he shook his head, he suddenly felt dizzy, as if the whole world was spinning.
His throat also began to feel uncomfortable, as if something was blocking it.
"I think I'm seasick." Chen Zhennan's voice was weak and trembling; he hadn't expected to feel so seasick.
As he spoke, Chen Zhennan hurriedly got up, grabbed the railing, and began to vomit violently.
His stomach churned violently, as if trying to expel all his discomfort. His face turned pale, cold sweat beaded on his forehead, and he appeared extremely weak.
Seeing this, Lin Cheng quickly and gently patted Chen Zhennan's back, trying to relieve his pain.
"Your Majesty, I will have the accompanying physician prepare some medicine to alleviate the symptoms. I had the same thing when I first went to sea."
Chen Zhennan nodded with a pained expression, took a deep breath, and then asked with considerable confusion, "But why didn't I get seasick yesterday? I was fine even after drinking last night, so why am I so seasick today?"
Lin Cheng smiled slightly, his smile carrying a hint of understanding and sympathy.
"The situation at sea is ever-changing, and sometimes even the most experienced sailors find it difficult to predict. When we first boarded the ship, we had the coastline as a reference point, and after dark the light wasn't so glaring, so I didn't get seasick yesterday."
Chen Zhennan thought about it and realized that it seemed to be true.
Chen Zhennan felt like a toy being played with by the sea, his face paler than the sails.
Upon seeing this, Lin Cheng immediately reached out and helped Chen Zhennan up.
Lin Cheng supported him while comforting him, "Don't worry, Your Majesty, this is only temporary. You just need some time to get used to the rhythm of the sea."
Supported by Lin Cheng, Chen Zhennan staggered back to the cabin.
He had thought that once he looked away from the turbulent sea, his nausea would subside, but he didn't expect that returning to the cabin would bring the same result; he no longer felt that the gentle rocking was his parents' embrace.
The accompanying physician quickly prepared some herbal medicine, which he confidently handed to Chen Zhennan, as if the medicine could immediately bring Chen Zhennan back to life.
But when Chen Zhennan drank the bitter medicine, his expression was like that of someone who had swallowed a live frog. The medicine not only did not relieve his nausea, but made him feel even worse.
"This medicine is more bitter than my life!" Chen Zhennan complained, sticking out his tongue as he looked miserable.
For the next three days, Chen Zhennan felt like he had gone through a purgatory at sea.
Although his dizziness had eased considerably, the nausea in his stomach was like a stubborn cockroach, refusing to leave.
He could hardly eat anything, and every time he tried to eat, it was more difficult than riding a horse into battle.
"Lin Cheng, I'm not going to die before we even reach our destination, am I?"
Lin Cheng twitched his lips hard; he had never seen anyone curse him like that before.
