Chapter 225 The Old Illness Relapsed

Yan Shiyu stood on the dock of the port, looking at the Japanese empress with a cold smile.

To him, Luye Sanra's anger and grief were nothing more than crocodile tears; he felt no sympathy whatsoever, nor did he have the time or the need to understand or care.

As the last box of silver was carefully carried onto the ship, Yan Shiyu shouted, "All team members, board the ship immediately!"

His voice was loud and powerful, and the team members quickly sprang into action, immediately running towards the ship.

After everyone boarded the ship, Yan Shiyu immediately reported the situation to Chen Zhennan.

Chen Zhennan stood at the bow of the boat, a faint smile on his face.

"Raise anchor and head back!"

Standing at the port, Luye Zanra watched Chen Zhennan's fleet gradually disappear below the horizon, her heart sinking into an abyss.

What Chen Zhennan took away was not only countless silver coins, but also decades of development for Japan.

The sea shimmered, but Rokuno Sanra's mood was like a dark cloud, impossible to dispel.

"Quick! See if there are any survivors. Save them as many as possible!"

Rono Sanra's voice was like thunder tearing through the night sky, and two hundred well-trained shadow assassins quickly searched for hope of survival on the battlefield.

As they moved among the corpses, Rokuno Sanra's heart ached as if it were being torn apart.

She had spent three years of her life working hard to expand the Shadow organization to three thousand people, but now, almost all of them had been slaughtered overnight, leaving only a little over two hundred.

Each corpse was like a heavy stone weighing on her heart, making it hard for her to breathe.

The Shadows only needed a quick check to determine that there couldn't possibly be anyone alive.

These bodies all had obvious bullet holes, and each person had at least two or three, making it impossible for them to have survived.

"Check carefully, don't miss any corner!"

“No one is alive.” One of his men returned, his expression grave, his eyes filled with helplessness.

Luye Sanra's face was as pale as paper, her lips trembled slightly, and tears glistened in her eyes.

"Go, go see if there are any survivors on the ship!"

Rono Sanra screamed almost to the point of collapse; her voice echoed in the empty harbor like a final cry.

His men reacted quickly, rushing onto the ship. Luye Sanra's heart felt like it was being squeezed tightly, making it hard to breathe.

The ship's deck was stained red with blood, and the air was filled with a pungent, nauseating smell of rust.

...

On the sea, sunlight shines through thin clouds, casting golden rays that shimmer like scattered gold dust.

Chen Zhennan stood on the deck, a gentle breeze caressing his face. His gaze was fixed on the distant harbor, his eyes sparkling with anticipation and deep thought, as if he were waiting for some momentous occasion.

Lin Cheng slowly walked to Chen Zhennan's side, frowning slightly, his heart filled with doubt.

"Your Majesty, why don't you burn the warships that Shadow brought back? Those are the enemy's forces!"

Lin Cheng's tone was somewhat anxious. During the time they had been out, Chen Zhennan had never made the slightest mistake. How could he have forgotten to attack the Japanese warships at the end?

Chen Zhennan chuckled softly, a playful smile curving his lips, a hint of cunning in his eyes: "You'll find out soon enough."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than a violent explosion suddenly erupted from the direction of the distant port, the deafening roar shattering the tranquility of the sea.

Immediately afterwards, flames shot into the sky, and thick black smoke billowed, as if a demon was devouring everything.

Lin Cheng's eyes widened, his face filled with surprise and shock, his heart brimming with disbelief.

He began to feel excited, and the expression on his face changed from doubt to shock; all of this was beyond his comprehension.

"Your Majesty, you're here. How did the explosion over there happen?" Lin Cheng couldn't help but ask, his voice trembling slightly.

Chen Zhennan tilted his head slightly, his smile widening, and his eyes sparkling with intelligence.

"Don't you know how to use grenades?"

His words carried a hint of mockery, as if he were looking at a child who had just learned to swim.

"Yes, Yan Shiyu taught me last night."

Although he knew the explosion was caused by a grenade, Lin Cheng still couldn't figure out how it was done.

Chen Zhennan couldn't help but smile slightly and pointed to Yan Shiyu standing to the side.

"When the time comes, let Shiyu teach you, and you'll know how to use this grenade in more creative ways."

As dusk fell, the sea shimmered like scattered silver.

Chen Zhennan stood by the ship's railing, a gentle breeze carrying the salty scent of the ocean.

He was in a good mood, with a faint smile on his face, as if all his troubles had been soothed by the vast ocean.

"Hey guys, come on, let's have another drink!"

Chen Zhennan's voice was like waves crashing on the shore, carrying a hint of excitement.

He led Lin Cheng and Yan Shiyu into the cabin, where the wine bottles shimmered faintly under the lamplight, illuminating their faces.

The fleet returned along the same route it had come from. Chen Zhennan was in high spirits, his eyes gleaming with the light of a victor.

Inside the cabin, the lights were bright, and the warm yellow light contrasted sharply with the setting sun outside.

The wooden tables and chairs exude a faint woody fragrance, which intertwines with the aroma of wine, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere.

After chatting for a while, Chen Zhennan found the atmosphere in the cabin to be somewhat oppressive.

"What's wrong with you guys? Why is the atmosphere so heavy today?" Chen Zhennan asked, trying to break the deadlock.

His brow furrowed slightly, and he couldn't help but feel somewhat dissatisfied.

Yan Shiyu had fought alongside him through thick and thin, and Lin Cheng and Chen Zhennan had been inseparable on the battlefield.

Yan Shiyu sat to the side, his hands clasped together, his fingertips slightly white.

"Aren't you going to just stay silent like this? Don't you want to talk?"

Chen Zhennan's voice revealed a hint of urgency; he had a vague feeling that he was drifting further and further away from the brothers around him.

Neither Yan Shiyu nor Lin Cheng answered Chen Zhennan's question; they simply exchanged a smile, as if they were in perfect sync.

Chen Zhennan frowned slightly, a hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes. He was used to the hustle and bustle of the battlefield, used to talking freely with his brothers, but now, this silence made him feel a sense of loneliness.

Chen Zhennan rolled his eyes. There was no point in drinking any more of this wine; it was all just him talking.

He stood up, turned around, walked to the bed, and lay down. Inside the cabin, there was an unfinished banquet and two silent brothers.

In the middle of the night, Yan Shiyu, who was sleeping on the outer deck, suddenly heard Chen Zhennan's voice sound like he was in pain.

They immediately became alert; although the sound was faint, it was exceptionally clear in the quiet night.

As soon as Yan Shiyu walked in, Chen Zhennan said weakly, "Shiyu, my old illness has flared up again, I'm seasick again!"
