Chapter 111: 035 Ah Zheng Part 2

Chapter 111: 035 Ah Zheng Part 2

Xie Zeyi tiptoed in and saw she was awake. Smiling, he dragged a rattan chair over to sit beside her bed. He tidied the scattered flowers and small toys from the Danish gift shop on her table, making a small space for the food in his hand. There lay a scrap of paper with her ugly handwriting: "Dear Mr. Yan Sang." He glanced at it and calmly put it away with the card.

She stared at him, trying to find something suspicious in his actions.

"You write, I won't disturb you." He opened the lunch box and put it on the bedside table. When he looked up, he saw that she was looking at him and couldn't help but smile.

That smile was gentle and normal, but at this moment it made her feel a little uneasy. She covered her mouth with the quilt, looked at him and asked, "What are you laughing at?"

Xie Zeyi was fiddling with something in his hands. In the dim light, only his bony fingers could be seen moving rapidly. He raised his eyebrows at her and asked, "Do you know what you look like now?"

"What?"

Xie Zeyi raised his hand, holding a peeled, white and smooth quail egg.

The perfect quail egg seemed perfectly formed on his pale finger. She touched her tightly bandaged head, feeling a headache from anger. Unwillingly, she stretched her head out and asked, "Mr. Xie, I'll teach you a dialect phrase. Do you know what people in Beijing would call you when they see you?"

"how?"

"The local police."

After she finished speaking the erhua sound, she looked up and saw Xie Zeyi squinting at her with a hint of helplessness. She couldn't help but chuckle with self-satisfaction, and as if she was afraid of guilt, she pulled the table board over and continued writing. Before her smile faded, the quail egg was stuffed into her mouth. Unable to speak with something stuffed in her mouth, she looked at Xie Zeyi with wide eyes in shock and anger. But the quail egg in her mouth seemed to restart all her organs, and the intense hunger overwhelmed her. So she glared at him angrily while chewing the quail egg into her stomach. Then the look in her eyes changed to: delicious, but still hungry.

Xie Zeyi turned around and peeled another one and put it into her mouth, saying, "Not bad, Shang still knows how to be angry and hungry." Seeing that she was eating happily, he reached out and gently touched her bandaged head. While she was eating, she suddenly felt the warmth of his palm outside the bandage. A strange warmth rushed through her heart, as if a mild anesthetic had been taken, and all the wounds on her body were healed and the pain disappeared. She lowered her head and pondered for a long time, but she didn't understand why. While wondering, she also breathed a sigh of relief: judging by his behavior, he probably didn't take the nonsense he said before fainting to heart.

It was inconvenient for her to move, so Xie Zeyi raised her pillow a little so that she could continue writing letters in a half-lying position. When the food was brought to her mouth, she ate it bite by bite with the spoon in Xie Zeyi's hand, fully enjoying the highest honor as a patient.

After a while, Mary came over and said, "It's time for the patient to go to bed." Seeing that she was writing, she frowned and said, "You have a head injury, so don't bother writing so much. You need to rest well."

Xie Zeyi turned his head to look at her and said, "Please let her write for a while. She can go to sleep after dinner."

Mary glanced at the various dishes in the food boxes. There was only a small amount of each, more than twenty pieces of food, large and small. She said with a strange look on her face, "Hospital food is very healthy. Why go to all the trouble to bring it back?"

Xie Zeyi put a small piece of chestnut from the chestnut chicken into her mouth. He turned around and said with a smile, "Chinese people don't like bread. This one is even more picky among Chinese people."

Chu Wang nodded sincerely, but suddenly couldn't remember when he started to be picky about food. He vaguely felt that he was not picky about food before.

Mary hesitated for a while, then compromised and said, "Then give me ten more minutes, otherwise Lily won't forgive me." Then she pushed the door open and went out.

A few minutes later, Chu Wang and Xie Zeyi heard Mary, who was still outside the door, crying to Lily in very soft English: "I also want to have a boyfriend like this!"

Xie Zeyi smiled. She ate in silence for a while.

"Mr. Xie, have you eaten yet?"

"Yeah. I went out before you woke up, and the restaurants I usually go to were closed, so I asked my mom to come over and cook some food. I ate some before bringing it here."

She nodded, "Where's the kid?"

"It's downstairs. Mr. and Mrs. Zheng are helping to look after it."

"Huh?" She raised herself slightly.

"After you left last night, the Japanese police brought people to search your house, so we asked someone to send you downstairs in advance. We've already troubled Mr. and Mrs. Zheng. I'm afraid you'll have to stay with them for the time being."

She felt that things seemed to be getting more and more out of control.

Xie Zeyi then smiled and said, "Did you know that Mr. Zheng and Mrs. Zheng were invited by Mrs. Ge?"

"ha?"

"I've specially invited you here, just in case I don't take good care of you. Mr. Zheng is here to help. Mrs. Zheng, she waits at home every day listening to the noise upstairs, just to be on guard against me."

"What are you doing?"

Xie Zeyi didn't respond.

She suddenly remembered that Mrs. Zheng hadn't bothered them very often at other times, but the next day after the child was sent home, he was making a lot of noise upstairs. That night, Mrs. Zheng immediately came out to inquire about it. She even asked, "Why is there so much noise upstairs today?" She thought about it and when she figured it out, her face immediately flushed.

What the hell is going on...

She hid her face in the quilt again and quickly changed the subject, "Have you told her about my injury? Otherwise, tell her later, when I'm better... If she saw me like this, she would probably scold you, right?"

"I'm afraid Mrs. Ge already knows. But Shanghai has been under strict martial law recently, so it will take some time to get into the concession."

"Yeah." She frowned and nodded, "Mr. Xie, will you be okay?"

"What could possibly happen to me?" He put the pillow down for her, resting his right hand on the headboard of her bed, and gently stroked her head with his left hand. "It's time to go to bed. Leave everything you want to say and do until tomorrow. You're still injured. Such a smart head needs to be healed."

She nodded.

"What do you want to eat tomorrow?"

Her eyes lit up, "Coca-Cola."

Xie Zeyi squinted his eyes and smiled at her, measuring the height above his collarbone.

“…”

"It's my fault. So I really can't drink anymore from now on."
