Chapter 250 Appraisal Results

At this moment, Hong Xiaoduo was a little nervous, too busy to judge whether her excitement stemmed from fear that the test results would reveal whether Kaiyang and Hua were not mother and son, or whether they were!

She glanced at everything on the report, including the applicant's name, date of birth, client, sample, and the gene locus comparison table in the middle.

The gaze falls on the last line of text—Result Explanation: Comprehensive Maternal Index, a string of numbers, ending with: Maternal probability is 99.9999%.

She didn't understand the technical terms at the beginning, but she understood the last number: Kaiyang was Hua's biological son and Wei Junpei's grandson!

My God, it really is true! Even though she had mentally prepared herself for the mother-son relationship beforehand, Hong Xiaoduo was still shocked when she saw the result.

After taking a few deep breaths, I looked at the result again carefully. It was still the same number; it hadn't changed, and I hadn't misread it.

After calming down, Hong Xiaoduo finally left the space. She didn't plan to take out the appraisal report, nor was she sure if she could take it out of the space. In modern times, people might believe in that kind of thing, but in this dynasty, people who saw it would probably be completely confused.

To need further explanations and clarifications is simply asking for trouble.

As her thoughts left the space, she met Quan Jinghuai's questioning gaze. One of his hands was still waving in front of her eyes. She realized that she had stayed in the space for a little too long.

"Don't worry. If you can't bear to part with the child, just don't use your secret techniques to help them calculate. It's not like you can't afford to raise them," Quan Jinghuai comforted him.

Hong Xiaoduo shook her head and said, "How can that be? What if they really are mother and child? I can't be selfish and only think about whether I'm willing to part with them, and let their flesh and blood continue to be separated."

"Young lady, young master Quan, my mistress invites you both in to choose a few robes together," the maidservant greeted respectfully as she came out.

"Brother Quan, you go ahead." Hong Xiaoduo didn't plan to go in.

Quan Jinghuai didn't plan to go either, saying that he already had several new robes, enough to change into, so there was no need to buy new clothes for the time being.

Hong Xiaoduo said to Ruan Niang, "Thank you for your kindness, madam. It's enough to buy it for the children."

Seeing that the two men had refused, the woman wanted to offer some advice, but after hesitating for a moment, she didn't dare. She just felt it wasn't appropriate, so she simply turned around and went into the shop to report the truth.

After a while, Tian Shu and the others came out with Hua Shi and his group. Except for Fei Yan, who looked a little unnatural, everyone else, young and old, was very happy.

The Hua family servants carried two large packages at the very back, and the tailor shopkeeper saw them off with a smile, his eyes narrowing into slits.

"Young lady, shall we continue our stroll?" Madam Hua asked expectantly, still holding Kaiyang in one hand and Yaoguang in the other.

"If Madam doesn't mind being tired, then let's continue shopping." Hong Xiaoduo didn't refuse; why should she spoil the fun when everyone was happy?

With Hong Xiaoduo's permission once again, Hua Shi, holding the two children's hands and leading the other children, continued walking forward in a flurry.

"I bought one for myself too, I can't refuse it." Fei Yan whispered as she walked beside Hong Xiaoduo.

The reason she went in was because she saw that Hong Xiaoduo and Quan Jinghuai had no intention of going in. She thought that since all seven children had gone in, even if the Hua family didn't seem like bad people, Feiyan felt more at ease following them.

"What's the big deal? It's not like you asked for it. Don't feel guilty or overthink it. Just accept it if she gives it to you." Hong Xiaoduo knew what Feiyan was thinking.

It's simply because they feel that accepting someone else's clothes would make them look down on them and cause Hong Xiaoduo to lose face.

Hearing her words, Fei Yan smiled and nodded. After walking for a while, she suddenly grabbed Hong Xiaoduo: "Xiaoduo, we've already been to the blacksmith shop. Didn't we say we were going to check if the barbecue grill was finished?"

Upon hearing this, Hong Xiaoduo turned her head in the direction of her gaze and indeed they had already passed the blacksmith shop.

"Brother Quan, you go with them first, we'll go check out the blacksmith shop," Hong Xiaoduo said to Quan Jinghuai behind her.

Quan Jinghuai didn't say anything more and replied, "Okay." He then continued to follow the children in front of him.

"Xiaoduo, is something on your mind? Tell me what's wrong, and we can talk about it together," Feiyan asked softly.

Hong Xiaoduo looked at Fei Yan, who was pointing to her face, and asked, "Is it that obvious?"

Feiyan nodded, but vaguely guessed something and wanted to ask Hong Xiaoduo if she agreed to let that lady come along because she planned to have her adopt Kaiyang.

But then I thought, since Hong Xiaoduo didn't say it, there must be a reason why she didn't say it.

It's possible that they wanted to observe how the lady and Kaiyang got along over a period of time before deciding.

Whatever her plans, she is the head of the family, and whatever decisions she makes are for the good of her children.

During this season, you can feel a wave of heat as soon as you get close to the blacksmith's shop.

Inside, the grandfather and grandson were both shirtless, sweat rolling down their bronze-colored muscles.

Feiyan and Hong Xiaoduo had been training together, and now they could naturally face the shirtless man in front of them. When the grandfather and granddaughter saw the two graceful young ladies arrive again, the grandfather quickly stopped what he was doing and grabbed a cotton towel whose original color was no longer recognizable to wipe the sweat from his face.

"Young lady, the frame you requested was finished in the middle of the night. I was just thinking of bringing it over to see if you're satisfied. If there's anything wrong, we can make changes." The old man said as he led Hong Xiaoduo and the other woman to the side.

Hong Xiaoduo immediately nodded and said, "Yes, it's fine. No need to modify it. We'll pick it up when we come back after we've finished shopping."

Even the best-made barbecue grills look rough and clumsy compared to modern ones, especially since they're made of iron.

But Hong Xiaoduo is already quite satisfied. After each use, she cleans it carefully and tries to avoid getting it wet in the rain, which effectively prevents it from rusting.

After leaving the blacksmith shop, the two strolled along, not in a hurry to catch up with Tian Shu and the others.

In the past, once the barbecue grill was ready, Hong Xiaoduo would have been eager to buy barbecue ingredients and start grilling.

But now that she knows Kaiyang is Hua's son, has a family and isn't an orphan, Hong Xiaoduo is happy for Kaiyang, but the thought of being separated from the child makes her feel sad.

About fifteen minutes later, they saw Kaiyang and his group. Now, apart from the servant carrying the package, the maids and guards were also carrying things.

Packages of pastries, and baskets of grapes and peaches.

"Tian Shu, take Tian Xuan to buy some things. We'll set off tomorrow." Hong Xiaoduo pointed to two little helpers among the children who had gathered around. Then, she told the others not to wait for her; they could just go straight back to the inn after they finished shopping.

Hong Xiaoduo, along with Fei Yan and the two brothers Tian Shu and Tian Xuan, walked to the other side.

"Young Lady Hong, please wait." Someone called out from behind.

Hong Xiaoduo stopped and turned around, looking at the guards who had followed her.

"Where are you headed tomorrow? Could you please let me know? I need to write back to the capital to inform my family." The guard quickly explained...
