Hong Xiaoduo could see that the child was trying hard to hold back. She sighed inwardly. She hadn't told them that Kaiyang was the son of the Hua family before, thinking that she would find an opportunity to tell them after arriving at the Wei family in the capital.
Now, Hong Xiaoduo felt it wasn't the right time to speak.
She didn't know if not telling them now was a mistake, but she knew she wasn't a smart person, not someone who could arrange everything perfectly or correctly.
Therefore, she can only do what she thinks is right.
She wouldn't mind if the children didn't understand or complained later.
She knew that at this point, she shouldn't keep it from everyone anymore; she should tell them, and even if the children were heartbroken, she should say a proper goodbye.
However, the news brought by the people from the Wei residence made her feel that there was some kind of conspiracy.
If there truly is a conspiracy, then the person who would dare to do such a thing, to deceive Lord Wei, must be no ordinary villain. Although it's just her guess, what if it is?
If it were just a greedy person plotting something, that would be one thing. But what if the other party is after more than just money? Therefore, given that everything is still unclear, Hong Xiaoduo felt it was best to keep the fact that Kaiyang was of the Wei family bloodline a secret for now.
Apart from the silent Tian Shu, the other children chattered, reminding Kai Yang to be sensible on the journey and not to cause Hong Xiaoduo any worry or trouble. They also told him not to do anything to embarrass her once they arrived in the capital.
Hong Xiaoduo felt uncomfortable, but she couldn't show it on her face.
Right now, only Tian Shu has noticed that something is wrong. If she can't control her facial emotions, the other children might also realize it. She really doesn't dare to think about that kind of scene. Although, she will still have to face it after returning from the capital. Sigh!
Quan Jinghuai also tried to adjust his emotions. After taking a few deep breaths, he came over, took out something wrapped in orchid cloth, and handed it to Kaiyang: "Even though you're not by my side, you can't neglect your martial arts training. You can practice this sword technique on your own."
Kaiyang took the things, looking up with a wry smile: "Master, we'll be back soon. Can't you teach me personally then?" It's only a short separation. Even without Master's presence, I can practice what I've learned every day.
As for giving him another set of sword techniques to learn on his own? Is it because they think he has exceptional aptitude? Or is it because his master favors him? If so, he really wouldn't want to keep that favor to himself; he'd want to share it with his older siblings, everyone together!
When Kaiyang heard that Hong Xiaoduo had assigned them homework, he felt quite sorry for his older brother, older sister, and younger sister. But now it seems that he was too happy too soon!
Hong Xiaoduo didn't urge them to set off, but since everything was packed, it was time to leave.
"You sit in our own carriage first. I'll put my things over there and come right back." After saying this, Hong Xiaoduo put down Yaoguang in her arms, said to Kaiyang, picked up his things, and walked towards Hua's carriage.
Upon hearing this, Kaiyang immediately took Yaoguang's hand and got into his own carriage without saying a word.
The others boarded the carriage one after another. Tian Shu glanced at his master, but when his master immediately turned away, his face paled again. He then ran after Hong Xiaoduo, catching up in a few steps and following her without saying a word.
"Kaiyang, come over when you reach the intersection ahead." After handing Kaiyang's things to Wufu and putting them away, Hong Xiaoduo said to Hua Shi, who was looking around.
After listening, Hua nodded quietly.
Ruanniang invited Hong Xiaoduo to get on the carriage now, but Hong Xiaoduo said she would come with Kaiyang later. After saying that, she walked back with Tianshu.
After walking a few steps, Tian Shu asked in a low voice, "Are you sure she's really Xiao Liu's biological mother?" She had promised that she wouldn't give the seven of them up for adoption unless she herself agreed.
However, since everyone in the Wei family has already said that their young master has been found and is in the mansion, yet she still took Kaiyang with her, there is only one answer: Xiao Liu Kaiyang is this lady's biological son.
Upon hearing this, Hong Xiaoduo stopped and looked at the child beside her: "Do you believe me?"
Tian Shu immediately nodded without hesitation and said, "I believe you."
“Since you trust me, just pretend you don’t know for now, or you can ask Master after we go our separate ways,” Hong Xiaoduo said.
She was truly gratified by the child's reaction.
"No, I won't ask Master. If you want to know, you'll tell us when you come back," Tian Shu said, his eyes red.
This child is so sensible. Hong Xiaoduo put her hand on his shoulder, looked into his eyes and asked, "Do you resent me? Do you hate me? Why didn't you keep him with us?"
Tian Shu shook his head: "I'm not ungrateful. Your decision is for his own good. It's one thing to not know his background, but now that you do, how can you not let him return to his own home?"
Furthermore, we've met that old man before; he's a good person.
And his mother, kind yet pitiful.
So, if I were to keep him with us and prevent him from reuniting with his family, wouldn't I be being too selfish? He has a family, and I'm happy for him that they can be together.
“Yes, I knew it. You’re the most sensible and reasonable one. Calm down now. When we get in the carriage, don’t let Kaiyang notice anything. Otherwise, he’ll throw a tantrum. If that happens, and more people from the Wei family hear about it, I’m worried things in the capital will get complicated,” Hong Xiaoduo said softly.
Upon hearing this, Tian Shu took several deep breaths and fanned his eyes with his hands to make the tears disappear.
After a moment, he said to Hong Xiaoduo, "Let's go, I'm ready."
“Okay.” Hong Xiaoduo put her arm around his shoulder and walked toward the carriage.
