As dawn broke, Hong Xiaoduo woke up. Actually, she still wanted to sleep, but unlike before, she could sleep as long as she wanted.
"It's still early, you can sleep a little longer." Sitting in front of the mirror, using makeup to cover the dark circles under her eyes, Hua said softly after hearing the noise.
She had her maid buy the items last night, but she only used the powder; she didn't touch the rouge or lipstick.
Having traveled with this young lady for a few days, she knew that she was a heavy sleeper. Every morning, the children would get up early and quietly open and close the door before leaving. Later, she learned that they were afraid of waking her up.
"I'm not going to sleep anymore. Madam must have had another sleepless night." Hong Xiaoduo said as she stretched and got up.
Hua slowly turned around and said apologetically, "I also made you not sleep well."
The suite had a partitioned room. Kaiyang slept with her, but he kept looking at Hong Xiaoduo, so Ruanniang had to sleep in the partitioned room instead.
"No, no, I just go to sleep as soon as the sun sets, and I still can't get up in the morning." After saying that, Hong Xiaoduo quickly went into the small room to wash up.
Kaiyang and Ruanniang had already gotten up and left. They would arrive in the capital today. The guards of the Wei residence dared not urge them, but they couldn't be irresponsible.
Breakfast consisted of crystal steamed dumplings with several different fillings, which were quite exquisite. They were served with four-color millet porridge and several delicate side dishes, making it both delicious and good for the stomach.
"Madam, are you sure you don't need me to go back and inform them first?" Dongzhi asked after thinking for a moment before setting off.
Without a second thought, Hua replied, "No need. My father knows both Miss Hong and Kaiyang; they're not strangers."
Sitting opposite Hua Shi, Hong Xiaoduo sensed her nervousness and reached out to pat her hand: "Don't be nervous, don't worry. I think your days of suffering are about to end."
Hong Xiaoduo didn't say that she would be able to reunite with Tong'er soon, because the mother and son had already reunited, but neither of them knew it yet.
Hearing her words, Hua seemed to receive great encouragement and said to the people outside the car, "Let's set off."
Inside Minister Wei's residence in the capital, everyone, from top to bottom, had been excited for days, and they were still thrilled. Even the cleaning servants had smiles on their faces.
"Be careful and move quickly. Get the elegant garden ready before the young mistress returns," the steward instructed the servants who were moving flowers and plants.
The young mistress loved tending to flowers and plants, but after the young master's accident, the flowers and plants in the courtyard were neglected, and she wouldn't let anyone take care of them.
Now that the young master has been found, the young mistress and young master's courtyard naturally needs to be properly taken care of.
Inside the main hall of the courtyard, Madam Qi, the wife of the Minister, was smiling as she watched the child eating sweet soup beside her. The more she looked at him, the happier she became, yet also the more heartbroken she felt. Her poor grandson, so young, had been kidnapped by evil people and was suffering a hard life outside.
Thankfully, by some miracle, it was finally found.
"Why are you crying again on such a happy day?" Wei Junpei, who was drinking tea nearby, said helplessly.
"Grandma, don't cry, have some sweet soup." The boy said obediently as he brought the bowl of sweet soup to Madam Qi.
Madam Qi smiled again: "Grandmother, don't cry. Tong'er is good. Tong'er will eat by herself. If there's anything else Tong'er likes to eat, just tell Grandmother and let the kitchen make it."
After saying that, she looked at her husband and said, "Do you think Zizheng's wife will faint from excitement when she sees Tong'er? Over the years, she's the only one who believes that Tong'er is still alive. We've been trying to persuade her to accept the fact. This child, she's really suffered."
Hearing his wife mention their daughter-in-law, Wei Junpei also felt guilty: "Oh, let's not talk about these things for now. Doctor Liu has already been invited. With him here, Zizheng's wife will be fine."
"Tong'er, your mother will be back in a few days. She has shed countless tears for you over the years. Remember to take good care of her in the future," Madam Qi instructed the child.
"Yes, grandson will remember grandmother's words. I will be filial to mother and father, and I will also be filial to grandfather and grandmother." The child put down the spoon in his hand, stood up straight and said respectfully.
"Master, has the academy been contacted yet? As for whether Tong'er can enter Qishan Academy, please don't be so stubborn. Tong'er has been lost and found again with great difficulty. For his sake, please put aside your pride and speak to Chancellor Tan." Madam Qi added.
Because just by looking at her husband's expression, she knew he definitely hadn't done it.
This time, Wei Junpei did not go along with her: "Qishan Academy is indeed the best academy in the capital, but this child does not necessarily have to go to that academy to be successful. I have tested him these past two days. Although he has attended a private school and is smart enough, it is probably not suitable for him to go to Qishan Academy."
After saying that, seeing that Madam Qi was about to speak again, he immediately said, "I have my own arrangements for this matter, so you don't need to worry about it."
Hearing this, Madam Qi was unwilling but knew her husband's temperament well, so she dared not continue to insist.
Wei Junpei got up and walked out. He had been busy investigating the child's matter these past few days, and the Ministry of Revenue also had a lot of official documents to process.
My grandson had an accident before he was even a year old. I was away for more than six years. Now he's back. The child looks just like my son, Zizheng. They look like they were made from the same mold.
Even so, we still need to investigate, not only to find out if the child is indeed Tong'er, but also to find out the truth of what happened back then.
So far, the information gathered indicates that the child is indeed his grandson, Tong'er.
According to the child's adoptive mother, six years ago she consulted a shaman because she was infertile. The shaman told her to pray to the fox spirit in the woods outside the city on a moonlit night, saying that sincerity would bring results and the fox spirit would grant her wish.
That night, as always, she knelt and prayed devoutly. She inadvertently saw a man in black enter the woods and bury a package. After the man left, she curiously went to look and heard the faint cry of a baby.
