Chapter 275 Father and Son, Deeply Concerned

At dinner, only the Wei family father and son, along with Hong Xiaoduo and Kaiyang, were at the table.

Neither the father nor the son explained why the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law hadn't come, and Hong Xiaoduo wisely refrained from asking.

However, she had a general idea in her mind that Hua was in a bad mood and not in a good state. Her mother-in-law was probably having dinner with the grandson she had just adopted, the fake Tong'er.

During the meal, Wei Junpei and his son were preoccupied. The old man was worried about what Hong Xiaoduo had told him. He had initially been skeptical, but after questioning Dongqing, the maid who had left the mansion with Madam Yin, his mood became even heavier.

Before leaving the mansion, Madam Yin had informed the steward, saying that she was just taking a stroll in the streets because she had nothing else to do.

She was Tong'er's adoptive mother and the one who saved Tong'er. She had done a great favor for the Wei family. No one could say no to her taking a stroll around the mansion. So, they arranged for the maid Dongqing to accompany her and gave her some silver, instructing Dongqing to buy whatever Yin Shi took a fancy to.

However, Dongqing just said that they were shopping together, looking at embroidery shops and embroidery threads, and that they hadn't seen Yin Shi want to buy anything.

However, when she entered a clothing shop, Madam Yin took a fancy to an autumn outfit and followed the female shopkeeper into the inner room to try it on. She wanted to come along, but Madam Yin said no, and told her to wait in the outer room.

The household sent Dongqing along, but they didn't tell her to keep a close eye on Madam Yin. So Dongqing didn't think much of it and waited in the outer room.

About fifteen minutes later, Madam Yin came out and bought the autumn clothes. Dongqing paid the money, and Madam Yin declined for a moment, but then let her pay.

If Hong Xiaoduo hadn't told Wei Junpei those things, then even if he knew that Madam Yin had gone out and was out of Dongqing's sight for a quarter of an hour, Wei Junpei wouldn't have cared or thought much about it.

But now, I have to think about it more.

Before entering the dining room, Wei Junpei had already arranged for someone to secretly investigate the clothing store and the female manager.

Therefore, no matter how old Wei Junpei is now, or how much he has experienced, he has no mood to warmly entertain guests.

Wei Zizheng, on the other hand, was worried about his wife.

Before he could even speak after hearing his wife's words, she interrupted, "Zheng-ge, do you also think that the reason I reacted this way is because I met Kaiyang first and spent more than ten days with him, and that I've already formed a preconceived notion about him?"

That's what he wanted to say to his wife, and it seems she's considered this possibility herself. This also shows that she hasn't actually lost her mind; she wants to figure things out and find the root of the problem.

However, he couldn't understand why his father had arranged dinner this way, letting his mother, Tong'er, and his adoptive mother, Madam Yin, eat together.

Is it because Miss Hong and Kaiyang are guests?

However, it seemed that his father was also in trouble, and it must have been something quite serious. Wei Zizheng didn't feel comfortable asking in front of outsiders.

The dinner table was even more lavish than the lunch table. Kaiyang sensed that his father and son were not very happy, but seeing that Hong Xiaoduo was eating without any problem, he also started eating.

Although Hong Xiaoduo didn't say when she would leave the capital, Kaiyang felt that she wouldn't stay in the capital for too long. The chefs at the Wei residence were so good at cooking that he could just show off his skills.

"It's really too much for A-Dian and the others to bother you all afternoon. You and Kaiyang should have had a proper rest." Perhaps realizing that the dining table was too quiet and that they had neglected their guests, Wei Junpei said apologetically.

"It's alright. I'm quite happy to see them again," Hong Xiaoduo said honestly.

Actually, it's easier and more comfortable to be with boys than with girls.

Of course, there are exceptional men, but the probability is low.

At this dinner, only Hong Xiaoduo and Kaiyang ate their fill; the father and son, each preoccupied with their own thoughts, barely ate anything.

Hong Xiaoduo realized that as a guest, she couldn't just let them eat and eat as if she were the host.

After dinner, as soon as they stepped out of the dining hall, the Wei father and son were startled to see a huge crowd of people in front of them.

Upon closer inspection, it was Yin Qingyun and his group.

"My lord," Yin Qingyun called out first.

“Why aren’t you having dinner? What are you all doing here?” Wei Junpei asked.

He didn't even need to count the number of people to be sure that, apart from the one in the study, the guards were probably all here.

"Reporting to your Excellency, we are waiting for Miss Hong here, hoping to have a friendly spar with her." Yin Qingyun, being the leader, spoke first.

Upon hearing this, Hong Xiaoduo was about to take a step forward when Lord Wei spoke up beside her: "Nonsense! Miss Hong is a guest of the manor. She has just finished her meal. What is there to discuss?"

"Xiao Duo, I have something to discuss with you. Come with me to my study." With that, he turned and left.

Hong Xiaoduo smiled apologetically at Yin Qingyun and the others, "I would appreciate it if you could give this kid some pointers. Oh, and he just finished eating, so please take him to digest first. Thank you."

After saying that, he patted Kaiyang on the shoulder and walked towards Old Man Wei.

Although Yin Qingyun and the others felt regretful, they knew what was important. Their master said he had something to say to Miss Hong, so it must be something important. They picked up Kaiyang and headed towards the martial arts training ground in the manor.

In an instant, only Wei Zizheng, his entourage, and the maidservant clearing away the dishes remained in front of the dining hall.

She glanced in the direction her father had left, feeling puzzled. What important thing could her father have to tell Miss Hong?

They didn't even let me go with them?

Forget it, I'd better go back to my own yard and keep my wife company. Right now, the person who needs me the most is my wife.

Meanwhile, Hong Xiaoduo followed Lord Wei all the way to the study. At this time, the guard Fang Tian was standing guard outside the study. He called out "My Lord" first, but his master didn't even glance at him.
