Chapter 308 He is the most pathetic person

Seeing that his father and his five wives and concubines showed no remorse, Gu Tongfan felt a sharp pain in his chest once again.

If I hadn't gone to the Wei residence today, wouldn't I still be kept in the dark? Perhaps I wouldn't even know until I'm in my coffin!

How ironic! My original purpose in going to the Wei residence was to witness Wei Junpei accepting a fake grandson, to vent my anger, and to expose the fact that Wei Junpei had accepted a fake grandson when he ruined my plans again, so that I could see Wei Junpei spitting blood in anger.

Although the fake grandson he arranged wasn't entirely fake, he was still disgusting to Wei Junpei!

What Gu Tongfan most wanted to enjoy was the process before Wei Junpei learned the truth, which might take several months or even years, and to appreciate Wei Junpei's reaction when he learned the truth.

But unexpectedly, such a flawless plan took such a turn. Wei Junpei did not acknowledge the child he had arranged, but the other party actually found his own grandson.

Thinking about this, Gu Tongfan became even more frustrated. How could it be such a coincidence? Why did they choose this exact moment? He hadn't heard a thing?

No, it's not like we didn't hear a thing. Madam Yin sent word that Wei Junpei's daughter-in-law had returned, accompanied by a young woman and a boy about the same age as her child.

It was also said that Wei Junpei and his daughter-in-law valued the young woman and the boy very much.

After hearing this information, Gu Tongfan analyzed it based on the information he had recently gathered and concluded that Madam Yin was being timid, guilty, and overthinking things.

It wasn't until he saw the child that Wei Zizheng and his wife brought out that morning, and it wasn't the one he had arranged, that he realized something was really wrong.

The perfect opening I wanted to see didn't happen, and I went from being the one in control to becoming the most pathetic one!

With six sons and one daughter, a total of seven children, Gu Tongfan could only confirm that the eldest son, born to his first wife, was his biological child. Although the second son was not in Beijing and had not been identified, Gu Tongfan was genuinely unsure.

Looking across the entire capital city and the entire country, is there anyone more tragically wronged than him?

On his way back from the Wei residence, Gu Tongfan's mind was filled with thoughts of what he should do next: interrogate those women first? Test his father, who had cheated on him? Or catch them red-handed without making a sound?

But the aching chest that made him breathe led him to make a simple and brutal decision: to leave it as it was.

"Granny Tang, come in." With a low shout from Gu Tongfan, Granny Tang, a burly woman, walked in carrying a wooden cane, followed by two servants carrying a long, wide bench.

"Tongfan, what are you doing?" Gu Shucheng asked, puzzled.

The women inside the house were equally confused and all looked at their husbands.

Gu Tongfan didn't respond to his father. He looked back and forth between his wives and concubines, then pointed to the fifth son's birth mother, Madam Yu: "Put Madam Yu up there."

Upon hearing his command, the two servants immediately stepped forward, one on each side, grabbed Yu Shi, and forced her to lie face down on the wide bench.

"My lord, what have I done wrong?" Completely bewildered, Madam Yu asked in a terrified voice after lying on the wide stool.

“Don’t know what she did wrong? It’s alright, a few lashes might make her remember.” After saying that, Gu Tongfan ordered Granny Tang, “Go ahead and do it. Don’t stop until she admits her mistake.”

"Yes," Tang Pozi replied, then swung her wooden cane and struck Yu Shi's buttocks, who was being forced to lie face down on the wide bench.

The wooden cane was made of dried ash wood, which was tough and not easy to break. It fell with a gust of wind and landed on Yu's buttocks, immediately causing a scream.

Yu, who had been trying to get up, was hit hard and immediately hugged the wide stool tightly. Then, the second and third blows landed evenly with a whooshing sound.

"Ah, sir, I'm in pain... ah..." Madam Yu cried out several times, her voice trembling and out of tune due to the pain.

The other women were terrified, but some were secretly enjoying the spectacle while others were secretly gloating, because they didn't seem to realize the seriousness of the situation and how it affected them.

"Master, please, stop hitting me! I know I was wrong," Madam Yu pleaded, drenched in cold sweat from the pain.

Gu Tongfan raised his hand, and Granny Tang immediately stopped hitting him with the board.

"I was wrong. I shouldn't have secretly given the shop you gave me to my younger brother. But he is my only brother. His youngest son is in debt from gambling and if he doesn't pay it back, they'll kill him. As his aunt, I can't just ignore it," Madam Yu cried, trembling with pain.

So that's how it is. Gu Shucheng, who had just been frowning, breathed a sigh of relief. He had been overthinking things!

"That's all?" Gu Tongfan asked.

"My lord, that's all. I know you hate gamblers the most, so when my family suffered this misfortune, I dared not tell you, much less use your name to help them in private. So, this is all I can do, sob sob." Madam Yu said, sounding very aggrieved.

"Besides that, have you really never done anything else to wrong me?" Gu Tongfan asked with a sneer.

"No, something else?" Madam Yu thought hard for a moment, then suddenly remembered something and subconsciously looked at the old man sitting opposite her.

Gu Shucheng's gaze was sharp, which startled Madam Yu, who quickly lowered her head and said, "Master, I really, really haven't done anything else to wrong you."

"I'll give you another chance, are you sure?" Gu Tongfan said coldly.

He had clearly seen the brief eye contact between Yu and his father, and any lingering hope he had was gone.

"I swear, I really, really have nothing else to say," Yu Shi stammered.
