Little did Hong Xiaoduo know that her simple act of making milk tea would elicit such a rich and varied reaction from everyone.
"Mom, it smells so good! The meat skewers are almost ready. My brother asked me to come and check if they're done yet," Tianquan asked with a smile, peeking out from the side.
Yao Guang quickly replied, "Alright, alright, Mother's milk tea is delicious."
"Have you all had your drinks?" Tianquan asked, glancing at the empty bowls beside the stove.
Yao Guang, Fei Yan, and Yu Heng all nodded in unison.
"Ah, Mother is biased, I want to try it too." Tianquan rarely acted coquettishly.
Hong Xiaoduo: "I was just letting them try the sweetness first. I didn't secretly give it to them or not give it to you. It's ready now. Just go back and set out the big cups." Over here, the pot had just been filled, and there was still some left to pour in, so Feiyan quickly found a large bowl to catch it.
Tianquan responded by taking the milk cups from the cupboard, carrying them out on a tray, and arranging them neatly.
I bought this cup at a general store on the way. It was sitting in a corner collecting dust. The shopkeeper himself said he was drunk and made a mistake, and no one would buy it. So when he saw that Hong Xiaoduo wanted to see it, he immediately offered to pay the cost price if she wanted to buy it, as long as he didn't lose money.
So, Hong Xiaoduo asked around and found out there were twenty in total, and bought them all, saying they were the perfect size for things like milk, juice, and soy milk.
At the time, Yao Guang asked, "If everyone gets one, there will be a lot left over." Hong Xiaoduo replied, "This size is uncommon, and it's fragile. If everyone gets one, what if someone accidentally breaks it? Wouldn't it be useless?"
Even if you manage to buy it again, it will be very difficult to find the same model.
"Let me tell you, Mom's tea is ready, it smells amazing!" Tianquan said, setting out the cups.
Just as she finished speaking, Hong Xiaoduo came over carrying a kettle and Feiyan carrying a large, steaming bowl.
Yao Guang and Yu Heng followed with smiles and quickly sat down at the table.
"Pour it into my bowl first." After Fei Yan finished speaking, she put down the large bowl in her hand, and before she could even call out, everyone had already placed their cups next to her.
Smelling the fragrant milk tea and looking at the nine large cups placed in front of Fei Yan, Quan Jinghuai picked up the wine cup beside him, looked at his six disciples, and said, "Good, very good. After the barbecue tonight, you will all have extra training!"
Not having enough water in the large bowl, Feiyan picked up the kettle and continued pouring.
"Second Brother, here's yours, I've put it away for you." Yuheng handed a cup to Tianxuan, who was grilling skewers.
"Mother, this is for you." Tianji handed Hong Xiaoduo a cup before taking her own and returning to her seat.
Hong Xiaoduo felt a great sense of accomplishment seeing everyone's reactions as she made milk tea for the first time. She tilted her head and looked at Quan Jinghuai: "Big brother, won't you do me the honor of having a cup to try?"
Quan Jinghuai thought to himself, "I'd like to, but look at these brats, they're not planning to let me drink it!"
"Master, would you like some drinks?" Tian Shu asked his master quickly when he heard Hong Xiaoduo ask.
It's really not everyone's fault, because Quan Jinghuai drinks milk for breakfast all the time, even though he doesn't like it. But Hong Xiaoduo says it's nutritious, like it supplements protein and so on.
He doesn't drink any other fruit juices or similar drinks.
Therefore, it's only natural that he wasn't included in the children's list today!
“Since this is your mother’s first time making it, of course I have to try it,” Quan Jinghuai replied after a moment’s thought.
He didn't dare to be polite, fearing that these honest disciples might take it seriously.
Upon hearing his master say this, Tian Shu immediately ran to the kitchen to fetch a cup for his master, poured a full cup, and respectfully placed it in front of his master.
By this time, Tianxuan's meat skewers were ready. She called Tianquan to take them and distribute them, while she quickly continued grilling. After arranging the skewers, she picked up her cup and, like everyone else, sniffed the tea first before taking a small sip. As soon as the milk tea entered her mouth, her eyes narrowed – it was so delicious!
The main dish on the table tonight was supposed to be barbecue skewers, but now it has successfully become milk tea.
As Hong Xiaoduo ate her grilled skewers, watching everyone enjoying their milk tea with such relish, she felt truly delighted.
"Tianxuan, these lamb skewers are really well grilled." Hong Xiaoduo sincerely praised Tianxuan, giving her a thumbs up.
The first thing to be grilled was the lamb. The lamb was freshly slaughtered and grilled to the perfect temperature, sizzling with oil. Topped with cumin and chili powder, one bite was simply divine.
Actually, the perfect match for barbecue is beer. There is some in the space, but she can't actually go in and take it out to drink.
She finished her cup of milk tea without asking for a refill, and instead started drinking her own special rose liqueur, which she had bought from a winery along the way. She liked it after just one taste.
The wine is a pale red color, with the aroma of roses and wine. It is said to be made by first brewing rice wine by mixing glutinous rice with rose petals, and then adding honey and lotus seed wine.
She doesn't know how to evaluate wine; she only knows that what she likes is good to drink.
The meat skewers were served in batches, and halfway through, Tian Shu took Tian Xuan's place to eat while he continued grilling.
Meat and vegetables, mixed together and grilled.
They thoroughly enjoyed all the food, big and small. Quan Jinghuai finished a cup of milk tea and actually wanted another one, but seeing that Hong Xiaoduo hadn't asked for a refill, he didn't dare to ask. He continued drinking baijiu and eating barbecue. Watching his six disciples drinking and eating barbecue, Quan Jinghuai suddenly felt that his life seemed to be quite fulfilling.
Then, Tian Shu walked up to him with a skewer of roasted lamb kidneys: "Master, here are your roasted lamb kidneys."
"Okay, put it down." Quan Jinghuai didn't reach out to take it. He looked around and realized that no one seemed to be paying attention to him. Everyone was focused on eating their skewers. He then realized that he had been overthinking things.
