"Huh? Manager Wu, is my memory still good? You're surnamed Wu, right? The Wu of 'mouth and sky'?" Hong Xiaoduo swayed as she greeted the manager outside the door and walked out.
Manager Wu had been observing this woman, but he never expected her to come straight for him. Judging from her voice and the way she walked, she was clearly drunk!
Honestly, he only drank some osmanthus wine with a low alcohol content, how come he's acting like a baijiu madman?
"Young lady, you remember correctly. I am Wu." Manager Wu replied, glancing out of the corner of his eye at his master, who had already stood up and come out to check on him.
"Master, shall I go tell the kitchen to prepare some hangover soup?" Steward Wu asked Jiang An as he walked out of the room.
Upon hearing this, Jiang An did not nod. Instead, he looked at Hong Xiaoduo, not to confirm whether she was drunk enough to need a hangover soup, but to wait for her opinion.
"No, no, it's not that serious. You only drank a little, why would you need a hangover soup? Mr. Jiang, you've chosen a very good steward. He's so thoughtful. Not bad, not bad at all." Hong Xiaoduo praised him, patting Steward Wu on the shoulder with one hand.
Whether it was because she had drunk too much and couldn't control her strength, or because she did it on purpose, Manager Wu slumped to the side under her force. Hong Xiaoduo quickly reached out to help him straighten up: "Oh dear, I'm sorry. I got carried away with the wine and forgot myself. I apologize."
"It's alright, it's alright." Manager Wu, whose shoulder was aching, cursed inwardly but couldn't show the slightest displeasure on his face.
"Would you like to come in and have a drink with us?" After successfully getting the hair, Hong Xiaoduo didn't immediately turn around and go inside. Instead, she continued to play along and asked them.
Manager Wu hurriedly bowed and thanked her, then refused again. She had drunk too much, while he hadn't. How could he really accept the invitation from a guest who was drunk and go in to eat at the same table as his master?
Having carefully and cautiously secured this position for so many years, I cannot afford to be careless and displease the master.
“If he’s not going, Mr. Jiang, let’s go back and continue drinking,” Hong Xiaoduo said, looking at Jiang An beside her.
Jiang An smiled and nodded, and the two of them went in one after the other and took their seats.
Seeing that Xiaoduo had really started drinking again, Jiang An hesitated in his heart, wondering whether he should persuade her to stop drinking. But looking at her condition, she was only slightly drunk and should be fine.
People come to your home as guests and continue drinking only when they are in a good mood. It would seem a bit of a downer to stop them from drinking.
Let's check on her again later. She seems really out of sorts. She really can't drink anymore. Let's talk again!
After a few more drinks, Hong Xiaoduo became more talkative than before, and the topics she discussed became more casual. One moment she was talking about eating seafood by the sea, and the next she was complaining about how bad the local customs were in a certain place she passed through.
As Jiang Baicheng listened, the look of disgust on his face became more and more obvious. He looked at his father and thought to himself, "How can my father talk so happily with such a person?"
So, this violent and ruthless person becomes like this after a few drinks, yet you, Father, value him so much that you personally came to pick him up.
Surely it's not just because she hit your son, me?
“Mr. Jiang, I’ve noticed something, hiccup, your son looks a bit like your concubine. If I didn’t know beforehand that the young master was born to your wife, I would have thought they were mother and son.” Hong Xiaoduo held up her wine glass and pointed to the other two people at the table as she spoke to Jiang An.
As soon as she finished speaking, Pang's hand trembled as she was about to pick up some food, and her chopsticks fell onto the table.
Jiang Baicheng completely ignored Hong Xiaoduo's "drunken ramblings." Like Pang Shi, he had been keeping her company until now, and now that he was indeed hungry, he started eating.
“Yes, others have said that, but there’s a saying in the countryside that the child will resemble the person who spends the most time with them from a very young age,” Jiang An said with a smile.
After hearing this, Hong Xiaoduo looked as if she suddenly realized something and said, "There's such a saying?"
At this moment, Pang had already picked up her chopsticks again, smiled at Hong Xiaoduo, and continued to eat.
Ponzi's reaction made Hong Xiaoduo even more aware of the situation.
This trip was worthwhile.
Hong Xiaoduo said that they had drunk enough wine, so Jiang An sent someone to the kitchen to bring over some staple food: noodles, rice, and meat pies.
Hong Xiaoduo scooped a bowl of rice, ladled some sweet and sour fish broth into it, mixed it, and began to eat heartily.
Seeing how awful their eating manners were, Jiang Baicheng curled his lip in disgust.
Looking at his father again, he still looked very happy!
Jiang Baicheng was quite annoyed. From childhood to adulthood, he had been scolded by his father countless times at the dinner table for his table manners and such. How come he was so pleasing to the eye when it came to her? Looking at his doting and adoring expression, anyone who didn't know better would think she was his late-life daughter!
After finishing a bowl of rice, Hong Xiaoduo put down her chopsticks and let out a satisfied burp.
Seeing this, Jiang An put down his chopsticks and was just about to suggest that he take her to his study for a while.
Hong Xiaoduo then took her leave: "Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Jiang. I'll see when it's a good time to invite you to my place to taste my child's cooking."
She said goodbye, and Jiang An did not try to stop her, but got up to see her off personally.
"You two don't need to see me off," Hong Xiaoduo said to Pang Shi and Jiang Baicheng as she walked out.
Pang nodded with a smile. Jiang Baicheng wanted to roll his eyes. What was he thinking? Who wanted to give you a ride? The reason I stood up was because I was afraid of my father. You're just being presumptuous!
Hong Xiaoduo got into the carriage, and Jiang An got in as well. The carriage didn't move, but soon the sound of hurried running could be heard. Then, a heavy bamboo basket was handed into the carriage.
