Chapter 507 Maintenance

On the morning of the second day, Lan Zechen got up very early, which was unusual for him, because he was afraid that Hong Xiaoduo and the others would get up early and leave without waiting for him.

Therefore, he deliberately instructed his two subordinates to wake him up as soon as possible.

As soon as I stepped out of the tent, I saw that everyone there was busy with their own things: packing up tents and loading vehicles, feeding horses and donkeys, and making breakfast.

Hmm? Where's that girl? Did she go to relieve herself in the woods?

It's inconvenient for a woman to go out, especially on long trips. Lan Zechen looked around but couldn't find the person, and guessed what was going on in his mind.

Just then, the youngest little girl walked over to him and said, "Uncle Pavilion Master, breakfast is ready. Come on, let's go eat."

"Okay, Uncle is coming right away." Lan Zechen looked at the little girl in front of him, admiring her very much.

He also has granddaughters, but they are not around him. He only sees them once or twice a year. When they see him, they are very reserved. His wife said that it is normal for them to be unfamiliar with each other because they are not raised by him.

But look at this little girl, her sweet and charming words are so sweet and graceful.

Lan Zechen didn't specifically instruct the coachman and guards to prepare food, because he didn't even need to say anything; he simply followed Yao Guang.

"Hey, why aren't you two coming over?" After taking a few steps, Yao Guang turned around and saw that there was one person following behind her, so she asked the two of them curiously.

“They don’t need it, they have food,” Lan Zechen said to Yaoguang with a smile.

“But my second brother prepared portions for them. If they don’t eat, won’t there be leftovers?” Yao Guang said very seriously.

Upon hearing this, Jin Gui and Liu Zhaoqiang were overjoyed and immediately looked at their master.

"Oh, is that so? Didn't you two hear me? Hurry up! You're just making people wait for you to eat what's served to you. Is that reasonable?" Lan Zechen said in a low voice, his face darkening.

Don't think he didn't notice; those two were overjoyed to hear they got a share.

Lan Zechen wasn't harsh on his subordinates, but he felt embarrassed to eat with them, already feeling ashamed of himself, let alone bring two more along.

The two who had been scolded hurriedly followed, their expressions showing they had done something wrong, but their hearts were pounding with joy. So what if they got a scolding? It wouldn't cost them anything. The young master's cooking was so delicious. They wondered what this breakfast was, and whether it was something they had never seen or tasted before.

Having worked at Duobaoge, I've seen a lot of things, but last night I ate several dishes that I'd never seen or eaten before. They were so delicious that I couldn't stop eating them!

Logically speaking, when accompanying their master to another's home for a meal, no matter how delicious the food is, the two of them should still be respectful and not embarrass their master.

However, at the dinner table last night, they just couldn't control themselves. After tasting one dish, they couldn't wait to try another. They tried to be mindful of their table manners, but they just couldn't stop. In the end, they looked at each other, then at their master, and realized they couldn't control themselves either. So they just let loose and started stuffing their food into their mouths.

Since their master doesn't care about saving face anymore, it wouldn't make any difference if the two of them resisted temptation and tried their best.

However, everyone at the table, young and old, was nice; no one showed the slightest disdain or sarcasm on their faces.

The three of them, master and servant, arrived at the table where they had sat the night before and saw that bowls and chopsticks had already been set out.

Jin Gui and his companion walked toward the makeshift stove without needing any signals from their master. They were taken aback when they saw what was in the pot—it was noodles.

"Don't you two like noodles? Then I'll make you something else later?" Tianxuan asked, looking up at the expressions on their faces as she stirred the noodles in the pot with specially made long chopsticks.

Upon hearing this, Liu Zhaoqiang quickly explained, "No, no, we like to eat it. We just didn't expect to be able to eat steaming hot noodles in the wild. Young master, you must have gotten up early to make noodles."

"It's not very early, please wait a moment. The toppings are over there, you can add them yourselves later," Tianxuan told her during the break.

Following his gaze, Jin Gui and his companion then noticed two steaming bowls on the cutting board. One bowl smelled delicious, as if it contained sauce and some kind of minced meat stir-fried together. The other, smaller bowl contained fried eggs.

The shapes are quite pretty, some are flower-shaped, some are heart-shaped.

Just then, the noodles in the pot seemed to be ready, and Tian Shu, who was standing nearby, picked up the bowl from the cutting board.

Upon closer inspection, the two discovered that the blue and white porcelain bowl came in three different sizes: the largest, the medium, and two smaller ones.

Jin Gui and his companion took the bowl of noodles that Tian Xuan had prepared, and following Tian Shu's example, scooped a large spoonful of toppings onto the noodles, added a fried egg, and then brought it to the table.

When I got to the table, I noticed that there were side dishes on it: pickled radish strips, chili oil, fermented bean curd, and a vinegar bottle.

Lan Zechen looked at the steaming, fragrant noodles in front of him and, like the other children, added vinegar and seasonings to them.

"Hey? Where's your mom? If she doesn't bring the noodles soon, they won't taste good," Lan Zechen whispered to Xiao Yaoguang sitting next to him.

"Mother, she hasn't gotten up yet. It's alright. My second brother probably didn't cook her noodles. He'll cook them when she's ready to eat." Yao Guang said as she picked up a flower-shaped fried egg from the bowl and took a small bite.

Huh? Still not up? The sun's already high in the sky, and she's still not awake?

Lan Zechen and his two servants were somewhat surprised to hear this. Isn't sleeping in late something that only children do?

Tianji, sitting opposite Lan Zechen, glanced at Yaoguang and said, "She has to manage all our affairs, big and small, it's very tiring for her."
