Chapter 59 Scripted Phrases

When Tian Shu asked this question, Hong Xiaoduo noticed the whip in the head guard's hand.

"What are they doing?" Hong Xiaoduo had a vague idea in her mind. "Could it be because of the two men in black that I dealt with last night?"

But she showed no sign of panic or nervousness.

What's the panic? The whip is being used on bad guys, not their own people.

Besides, he hadn't used a sword, so the black-clad man he whipped certainly wouldn't have been as bloody as someone using a sword.

"Excuse me, we were just curious and wanted to take a look, and it's not outside the carriage anyway." Yin Qingyun forced himself to step forward, and as he spoke, he handed the whip in his hand to Hong Xiaoduo.

Hong Xiaoduo didn't take it, but Tian Shu, who was standing next to her, grabbed it and examined it carefully to make sure there was nothing wrong with the whip.

Yin Qingyun looked at his empty hand, then looked at Tian Shu, who had just said that this was his whip!

Hong Xiaoduo wanted to laugh at Tian Shu's actions, and she also wanted to laugh at the head guard's expression. It was just an ordinary whip. If it were very expensive, the carriage shop owner wouldn't have given it away for free: "Our carriages and donkeys are under his management, so this whip is indeed his property."

"Young lady, don't you have your own whip?" A guard looked Hong Xiaoduo up and down as she walked over, but didn't find a whip.

Hong Xiaoduo shook her head: "I don't have a horse, what would I need a whip for? But I'll buy one when we get to town." Thinking about the feeling and effect of using the whip last night, she really felt that a whip would suit her well.

When not in use, it can be rolled up and hung around the waist; it's not heavy and doesn't look bad.

Moreover, this thing can be used by everyone from petty thieves and lecherous men to the kind of people I met last night; it's a convenient and versatile weapon.

Imagine encountering a petty thief or a lecherous scoundrel. What would you do? Draw your sword to scare them? Or chop off their hand that's stealing? And for that lecherous scoundrel, would you cut off their tongue or castrate them?

This isn't a question of whether it's bloody or not, cruel or brutal. Hong Xiaoduo doesn't consider herself the kind of saintly, innocent person, but she just feels that it doesn't have to go that far.

Her words resonated even more deeply with the guards.

It wasn't her special whip; it just so happened that she had it in her hand while driving the carriage, and the effect of her strike was so accurate and ruthless. Doesn't that mean that this young lady's skills have reached a level of divine perfection?

My goodness, they already knew the meaning of the word "talent," but they feel they've only just truly grasped its essence.

Six or seven out of ten of these guards had been practicing martial arts since childhood, while the remaining few had started as teenagers. Regardless of their background, they all trained rigorously in the coldest and hottest winter months, practicing whenever they had free time when they weren't on duty.

But compared to this young lady, I feel so inferior. Ahem, my parents said I can't compare myself like that. There are always mountains beyond mountains and skies beyond skies!

That's not right either. Yin Tou said that this young lady might be in disguise, after all, she already has seven children.

No wonder she said before that she shaved the children's heads just because they had lice. It turns out that she is the children's biological mother, so naturally she can make that decision.

However, if she just shaved it off like that, doesn't that mean the mother is a bit lazy?

Putting everything else aside, look at her children; they all get up very early and are all neatly dressed. And she, the mother, only got up after hearing that the children had almost finished breakfast!

Is this what they mean by "heroes of the martial world"—unconcerned with trivial matters?

“Young lady, my master asked me to inquire whether you would mind having lunch together?” Upon hearing her answer, everyone was momentarily at a loss for words. Yin Qingyun suddenly remembered and asked.

Hong Xiaoduo smiled and said, "What's there to mind? We're only able to avoid sleeping in the mountains tonight because of your family. It would be nice to have lunch together; it's more lively with more people."

Hearing her readily agree, the guards breathed a sigh of relief, but also thought to themselves, "Look how straightforward she is, agreeing without any hesitation."

They themselves didn't realize that their feelings towards this young lady had changed; they no longer felt that their master had done her a favor.

Although the man in black tried to sow discord during the interrogation, claiming that the young woman was deliberately pretending to get close to the master with some ulterior motive, the guards were still quite intelligent and their judgment was not affected.

Having said that, Yin Qingyun quickly found an excuse to leave the stable.

"Mother, why do they seem so strange?" After the people had gone some distance, Tian Shu looked at the whip in his hand and asked, puzzled.

The whips at their waists looked to be of better quality than the one in his hand, so why were they so interested in his donkey whip?

"Maybe it's because you think your whip looks better?" Hong Xiaoduo teased him with a smile.

Tian Shu knew she was teasing him; she definitely knew what was going on, but since she wasn't telling him, he wouldn't ask.

Hong Xiaoduo stood aside watching Tian Shu feed the donkey. After the donkey ate a few bites, it looked up and nuzzled against her hand. Hong Xiaoduo reached out and stroked its head and ears.

It's so intelligent and understanding; even if we can get a different carriage later, we should keep it.

The donkey stretched its head in front of Tian Shu again, and Tian Shu responded to the donkey, mimicking Hong Xiaoduo's actions.

"Think it over carefully and give it a name." Hong Xiaoduo looked at Tian Shu and decided to hand over the naming rights to him.

Upon hearing this, Tian Shu's eyes lit up: "Shall I get up?"

"Yes, but you absolutely can't call it Little Gray. You have to think about it carefully. If you're too perfunctory, it will be sad." Hong Xiaoduo didn't know why or when she started to enjoy teasing these children so much.
