Chapter 600 Mother and Son Reunion

After calling out the name, Dou Suyi immediately sensed something was wrong. The figure was clearly not her eldest son, and besides, her son was in the vanguard camp, so her husband wouldn't have arranged for him to come and meet her.

It's not the second son, Yaoxuan either. The second son, who is twelve years old this year, is still in his hometown and has not joined the army.

Furthermore, the young general in silver armor riding the black horse possessed a heroic air that the second son lacked.

Tianquan, on horseback, met the other's gaze and felt a tightness in his throat from the other's expression.

This must be my mother!

Commander Hu dismounted, threw down the reins, and stepped forward to pay his respects. Tianquan also dismounted, his hand trembling as he returned his sword to its sheath. It wasn't from the fear of killing the enemy earlier, but from finally seeing his mother.

"Commander Hu, who is he?" Dou Suyi asked, only to find her voice trembling as she spoke.

Following her gaze, Commander Hu turned his head to look at Tianquan behind him, then turned back and whispered, "He is one of the people that Commander Lü met in the city. He said he could help us deal with that powerful weapon of the enemy."

His master, Master Quan, was also there to meet him. The incident in the ravine was orchestrated by his master.

"By the way, Madam, don't you also think he looks a lot like the General? And the eldest son too."

So that's how it is. Dou Suyi looked at Tianquan and thought to herself that he not only looked alike, but was practically a carbon copy of her husband when he was young, her eldest son from a few years ago.

Just then, the sound of horses' hooves came from behind Tianquan; Quan Jinghuai had arrived.

"Master, are you injured?" Tianquan asked anxiously when he saw his master.

Quan Jinghuai immediately dismissed it, saying, "I was just scratched by a tree branch when I was going up the mountain pass."

In any case, it's absolutely impossible to say that you were injured by that lump of iron.

It wasn't that he was afraid Hong Xiaoduo would feel guilty or scared if she found out; it was that he himself felt embarrassed. Just a moment ago, he was thinking to himself, "How much power can it really have?"

The next moment, I experienced it.

This is only because we're already within the safe zone that Xiaoduo mentioned. Otherwise, kid, even if your master were to survive by sheer luck, I'd probably be crippled for the rest of my life.

After the explosion, he didn't leave immediately but rushed over to take a look. The scene was too bloody and too horrific. There were enemy limbs, skulls, internal organs, and other remains everywhere.

Even though he had witnessed bloodshed before, it made him feel very uncomfortable and want to vomit.

No wonder she has such a weapon; she never used it when she encountered bandits or pirates in the past!

If the younger children saw that scene, they'd probably have nightmares for ages.

No wonder that when I gave this to him and Tianquan before we set off today, he was so cautious, meticulous, and verbose in emphasizing the precautions and dangers of its use.

"Madam, is this Master Quan and his disciple?" As Commandant Hu introduced them, he suddenly realized that he did know the young master's name.

Quan Jinghuai did not say Tianquan's name, but just looked at Tianquan.

After taking a few deep breaths, Tianquan stepped forward, clasped his hands in greeting to Dou Suyi, and said, "This humble one, Hong Tianquan, greets Madam."

"Hong Tianquan," Dou Suyi thought to herself. She wanted to ask how old the child was, but seeing her own men holding torches searching for the missing enemy soldiers not far away, she quickly calmed herself down.

"Thank you both for your help. I will express my gratitude again after we return to camp." After expressing her gratitude to Quan Jinghuai and his apprentice with a fist and a fist, Dou Suyi knew that the most urgent task was to transport the grain back to avoid any further complications.

Dou Suyi didn't even leave any troops behind to wipe out the enemy soldiers who had escaped.

"Master, is that the iron lump in the ravine?" On the way back, Tianquan whispered to his master, sitting close to him.

"Yes, remember your mother's instructions. When they ask, just give them that answer," Quan Jinghuai whispered to him.

Hong Xiaoduo had the two prepare an explanation: they met an old man on the road who offered to sell them money, saying they could exchange it for wine.

I didn't know the old man's surname or given name, nor did I ask him where he was from or where he was going.

Even if someone wanted to buy this iron lump, they would have nowhere to find it.

"So, you've seen her, aren't you excited? Did you feel an urge to rush over and call her 'Mother,' and tell her you're her son?" Quan Jinghuai asked in a low voice.

Tianquan pursed his lips and nodded, saying, "I'm definitely excited, but Mother will arrange how and when we will recognize each other."

Around midnight, they returned to the camp. Immediately, someone went to report to Gong Wei. Gong Wei, who had only taken off his armor and was lying on his bed fully clothed, was not sleepy at all and rushed out of the tent.

"Ah Yi, are you alright?" he asked, looking his wife up and down.

After receiving a response from his wife, he asked about the casualties.

Dou Suyi and Commander Hu exchanged glances and said in unison, "Our army suffered no casualties. We will have to wait until dawn to find out the exact number of enemy casualties."

No casualties? How is that possible?

It wasn't that he underestimated his own troops, but since the enemy had laid an ambush, some casualties were inevitable in any battle.

Commandant Hu then reported the details to the general, his admiration evident in his words: "General, let's find a way to recruit such a capable person."

"Where are Master Quan and his disciples?" Gong Wei looked around but didn't see anyone.

"Reporting to the general, Master Quan and his apprentice went straight back to their own tent upon their return. Should I go and invite them?" A soldier who had accompanied Commandant Hu immediately asked.

"Alright, since you're resting, let's not disturb you any longer," Gong Wei said. "You've all had a long and tiring trip, so go back and rest now."

Recruiting江湖人士 (jianghu figures) is no easy task. They roam the jianghu, preferring to be unrestrained and free-spirited. If they want to join the army, make merit, and achieve great things, they don't need anyone to recruit them; they'll come on their own.
