"Young lady, are you up?" Hong Xiaoduo had just put on her shoes in the dark when there was a commotion outside the door, and a maid asked cautiously.
"Yes, that's right." Hong Xiaoduo was no longer in a hurry after hearing the question.
We should know what happened soon enough.
The noise outside immediately became chaotic, and the next moment, after a rustling sound from the direction of the window, the room suddenly became bright.
Hong Xiaoduo stepped out from under the bed curtains, pulled her outer robe over her shoulders, opened the door, and was immediately blinded by the blazing summer sun. She instinctively raised her hand to shield her eyes, and tilted her head to see several maids carrying cotton curtains.
The sun was directly overhead, and it was almost noon. The reason the room was still dark was because the windows were covered with thick cotton curtains.
"Please don't be offended, young lady. It was the princess who wanted you to sleep a little longer, so she instructed us to cover up the doors and windows." A maidservant, seeing that Hong Xiaoduo's face was expressionless, quickly stepped forward and explained nervously.
That's really the case. Hong Xiaoduo was both amused and exasperated. Yuheng, that girl, immediately started using the power of her status as a princess as soon as she returned to the Prince's Mansion!
Hong Xiaoduo smiled and nodded. Sure enough, the tense maids immediately relaxed a bit.
"Mother, you're awake! Fifth Sister, Mother's awake!" Yao Guang's joyful voice came from the moon gate not far away.
The next moment, the little girl took off running towards her.
Yuheng and the others followed behind, also walking this way.
"My goodness, Yaoguang, why are you all adorned with jewels today?" Looking at Yaoguang up close, one could see the dangling gold hairpins and pearl flowers in her hair, the gold and jade hairpins, the gold necklace and bracelets around her neck and wrists, the heavy purse around her waist that seemed to be drooping to the ground, and several jade pendants of various shapes.
Hong Xiaoduo wanted to reach out and hug her, but she didn't know where to start.
Why does her little Yao Guang suddenly seem like a nouveau riche's daughter?
"Mother, look, this is a luminous pearl. My fifth sister's mother gave it to me. These were also given to me by the Princess. Mother, didn't you say that we should accept gifts from our own people? So I didn't stand on ceremony." Yao Guang handed the things in her hand to Hong Xiaoduo to show her.
“My older brothers all have them too, but they’re a little different from mine,” Yao Guang added.
"Little sister, let Mother wash up first." Yuheng approached and reminded Yaoguang first, then looked at Hong Xiaoduo: "Mother, did you sleep well?"
"What do you think? If I hadn't realized something was wrong and gotten up, I probably would have slept until tomorrow," Hong Xiaoduo said to Yuheng, deliberately putting on a stern face.
Seeing this, the maids nearby immediately became nervous again, but they didn't know what to do and dared not speak up.
But she saw that her own princess was not afraid at all. Instead, she smiled and stepped forward to hug Hong Xiao Niangzi's arm, swinging it back and forth: "I haven't been sleeping well lately, so I just want you to get enough sleep."
Hong Xiaoduo gently tapped Yuheng's nose with her other hand, then turned and walked into the house. Several maids hurriedly brought in the water they had prepared for washing and then quickly left.
The princess specifically instructed them last night that they shouldn't be needed for anything else.
"Where is your master?" Hong Xiaoduo asked while washing up.
"He's having tea and talking with my father in the hall," Yuheng told her, handing Hong Xiaoduo a handkerchief. Feiyan quickly tidied the bedding on the bed.
As Hong Xiaoduo combed her hair into a high ponytail, she glanced at Yao Guang beside her, who was shaking her head and staring at the swaying hairpin in front of her with crossed eyes, and was amused by her.
"After breakfast, the princess led us to the storeroom, wanting to give us everything inside. My little sister was so silly, she didn't know how to refuse, and that's how it ended up like this," Tianquan whispered, complaining from the side.
Hong Xiaoduo imagined the scene, and just thinking about it made her feel amused.
"Mother, are you hungry? I'll go to the kitchen right away, it'll be quick," Yuheng said from the side.
Now that we're at her home, we absolutely can't let her go hungry.
"No need, I'm not very hungry. I'll just have a couple of snacks for now. Lunch is coming up soon, and I need to save room for some good food," Hong Xiaoduo said with a smile.
Hearing what Hong Xiaoduo said, Yuheng glanced at the door and lowered his voice to say to Hong Xiaoduo, "Mother, you ate the food last night, how could it compare to what Second Brother made?"
Unfortunately, my second brother was too embarrassed to offer to cook right after arriving.
Hong Xiaoduo glanced at the other children, who were all trying not to laugh. Although Tianxuan had spoiled their palates, they weren't picky eaters.
Even though the dishes prepared by the chefs of Prince Yi's mansion could not compare to Tianxuan's culinary skills, they never complained in the slightest. In fact, they knew that Yuheng was not complaining, but just felt a little guilty.
"It's alright, it's alright. We're not staying here forever. Once we leave, we can continue eating Second Brother's cooking." Yao Guang said cheerfully, reassuring everyone.
"Ahem." By the time Tian Shu realized he needed to warn his little sister, it was too late. Tian Xuan, Tian Ji, and the others looked at their outspoken little sister with a lot of speechlessness.
What nonsense are you talking about? Although it's the truth, Yuheng has only just returned home and stayed for one night. How can you say in front of her that you won't stay here forever?
As everyone knows, Yuheng is also going along, and her father has agreed. However, if the other people in the palace hear this, it might cause misunderstandings, which would be bad.
The younger ones aren't afraid of being misunderstood, but what if Yuheng's family misunderstands that Yuheng's refusal to stay in the Prince's mansion is because of Hong Xiaoduo's instigation?
Seeing her brothers' expressions, Xiao Yaoguang realized that she had said something she shouldn't have, something inappropriate. She quickly covered her mouth with both hands, blinking her big, innocent eyes. It was better to stay outside with her mother and say whatever she wanted.
