The two adults, with seven children, strolled out of the inn. At this hour, many roadside stalls had not yet been set up, and there weren't many people on the street. However, anyone who saw the two adults and seven children couldn't help but take a second look.
Someone with sharp eyes recognized that Hong Xiaoduo was the one who had taught the wicked servant of the magistrate's mansion a lesson the previous evening. They quickly pointed her out to their companions and said, "See? That's the young lady. With that whip, she swept the man up and threw him far away."
Those who were with her said that she must have powerful connections, otherwise even a martial arts expert wouldn't dare to openly reprimand the servants in an official's household.
After giving them a lesson, they weren't in a hurry to leave, and were leisurely strolling around the street.
Her companions also pointed out that the man beside her, though dressed as a guard, exuded an aura that suggested he was not from an ordinary family.
The two couldn't help but wonder what kind of important figure had come to this remote town far from the emperor's reach.
"I drank a bit too much last night, did I lose my composure? If I did, please don't be offended, Xiaoduo," Fan Wu said after hesitating for a long time.
Last night, he returned to the inn where she was staying and sat on the roof all night, wondering if he had said anything he shouldn't have. He felt he hadn't. But when he came out this morning, the way his master and the other brothers looked at him seemed a little strange, which made him think again.
"No, it's just that I have to take these seven little ones with me, otherwise I would have had a few drinks with you, Brother Fan." Hong Xiaoduo spoke the truth. She seemed to be able to drink, but she wasn't sure how much she could hold her liquor.
Hearing her words, Fan Wu finally felt a little more at ease.
"Huh, Master? What's going on?" Fan Wu was a little surprised to see a group of people coming from the opposite direction when he arrived at the noodle shop.
Hai Dong said, "What, you've booked this entire shop? You can come, but we can't?"
Everyone laughed, and Fan Wu was quite embarrassed: "No, that's not what I meant."
Hong Xiaoduo nodded to Murong Jing across from her as a greeting.
As soon as the fifteen of them entered the noodle shop, it immediately felt like it was full, and the owner personally came up to ask if they needed to share a table.
Seeing that the shopkeeper had sharp eyes and directly asked about the one with the most special identity, Hong Xiaoduo remained silent.
Murong Jing did not respond immediately, but looked at Hong Xiaoduo with a questioning gaze.
Huh? They actually asked for my opinion? Hong Xiaoduo was surprised. "I don't care, it's up to you, young master."
Murong Jing looked around and saw that the four empty square tables were all in one place. He immediately said that there was no need to trouble him and that they could just sit there.
Upon hearing his words, Hai Dong and the others, without needing any further instructions, each led their children forward and sat down, filling the three square tables.
Seeing that there were adults next to the seven children, Hong Xiaoduo admired their thoughtfulness and intentions, so she naturally sat down at the same table with Fan Wu and his companion.
"Miss Hong, do you have any dietary restrictions?" Murong Jing asked.
Hong Xiaoduo smiled and shook her head, saying, "I didn't, and neither did they. Anyway, I put the chili peppers in myself."
When he heard Fan Wu announcing the number of bowls to the waiter, he interrupted and said to the waiter, "Order one less bowl. The two smallest ones can share one bowl."
"It's alright, this meal is definitely on my young master's dime," Fan Wu immediately said with a smile.
Hong Xiaoduo also said with a smile, "No matter who's treating, we can't waste food. Leftover noodles won't taste very good if we pack them up and eat them again."
Since she had already said that, Fan Wu couldn't say anything more. He then told the waiter to bring some other snacks if the shop had any. His manner suggested that he wanted to squeeze some money out of his young master.
Murong Jing was already used to it, but after hearing Hong Xiaoduo's words just now, he looked at her a few more times with surprise.
It's just a bowl of noodles, it doesn't cost much, yet she's concerned about it.
I saw the seven children the day before, and they were very thin. When I saw them again yesterday, although they hadn't gained weight, their complexion had improved a lot, which showed that she was taking good care of them.
Furthermore, the seven little beggars who originally made a living by begging, despite having no one to teach them manners, showed no bad habits whatsoever; they were all so well-behaved and very polite. Fan Wu had mentioned the seven children's past experiences when she returned last night, so their current behavior must be influenced by her.
It's only been a short time, yet she's managed to do this!
Murong Jing couldn't help but feel curious about the young woman in front of him.
The noodles were served quickly, and Murong Jing noticed that the young woman looked around at the children before starting to eat. Her concern for seven children with no blood relation, who were once little beggars, was more than just a kind heart.
Hong Xiaoduo picked up the bowl of chili oil on the table and poured some into her noodle bowl. Adding chili oil to noodles is so delicious this season. Sensing someone watching her, she looked up and met Murong Jing's gaze. After a moment's thought, she handed him the bowl of chili oil: "Young Master, would you like some? If it's not enough, you can ask the owner for more, right?"
Murong Jing knew she had misunderstood. He was about to reach out and take the chili pepper, thinking that a little bit wouldn't hurt, when Fan Wu, the simpleton, spoke up first: "He can't eat spicy food."
Upon hearing this, Hong Xiaoduo withdrew her hand and hurriedly put the rest back on the table.
Murong Jing reached out and took the bowl of chili peppers, which still had a third of its contents left, and placed it in front of Fan Wu: "You can eat? Then you can eat it."
Fan Wu glanced at the bowl of spicy food, then looked at Murong Jing with confusion: "I don't eat it either?" He thought to himself, "Young Master, didn't you know that? I knew you didn't eat spicy food, and I refused it for you!"
