Chapter 89 is really not right.

"It's chilly outside, why don't you sit inside the carriage?" Tian Shu couldn't help but ask the person sitting on the other side of the carriage shaft.

Hong Xiaoduo suddenly noticed that the older children had been calling her "Mom" much less these past few days.

It's likely that they realized she would take care of them even without them calling for her mother, so they stopped calling.

Children this age, when they call their mothers, must feel quite awkward inside!

Hong Xiaoduo thought it was great; she didn't even need to bother persuading them, they would correct their mistakes on their own.

“You’ve been rushing around all day without getting cold, so it’s not a big deal for me to sit here for a while,” Hong Xiaoduo said, while playing with the soft whip at her waist.

When Tian Shu heard her say that, he frowned slightly. She didn't explain why they weren't going into the carriage.

The reason I asked her was because when she was playing with the soft whip, the expression on her face was not one of enjoying the autumn breeze and appreciating the late autumn scenery; it looked like she was scheming something.

Hong Xiaoduo turned her head and saw Tian Shu's expression. After thinking for a moment, she said, "The reason I'm sitting here is to wait for someone. It would be too troublesome if I had to come out again when they arrive. I just don't know if I'm overthinking it and it's all for nothing."

"Waiting for someone?" Upon hearing this, Tian Shu glanced again at the person playing with the whip, and after a moment's thought, asked, "You mean, that person's accomplices will come after us?"

Hong Xiaoduo nodded, not afraid of scaring the children by telling them. There was no point in keeping something that was about to happen from them for a while.

"Are you scared?" Hong Xiaoduo asked.

"Mom, we're not afraid." Before Tian Shu could even respond, several little heads crowded around the car window behind him spoke up.

They had heard the conversation between Hong Xiaoduo and Tian Shu very clearly.

Looking at the little ones eagerly peeking out of the car window, their faces full of excitement, without a trace of fear, Hong Xiaoduo wondered helplessly, is it normal for children to react like this?

However, upon further reflection, they had been living in constant fear before, and later, following her, they encountered robbers and assassins one after another.

Plus, they had just witnessed how she knocked that bastard unconscious before they left town, so they were able to calmly cooperate with her acting!

After a few times, I did manage to build up my courage.

She knew that another reason why the children were like this was that, although they had experienced several dangerous incidents since following her, they had never suffered any losses.

Does this mean she has given the children enough security? Thinking about it this way, it's quite an accomplishment.

The carriage traveled another ten miles or so, but there was still no movement. Hong Xiaoduo wondered to herself, "Does this mean they don't like the eight of them?"

That's not right. If they weren't interested, they wouldn't have let that short, skinny man follow them.

My own looks, and these seven beautiful children, aren't worth as much as Jie Xinyu? Besides, if Jie Xinyu is captured, the escort agency has dozens of people searching for her.

On my side, it doesn't seem much simpler than catching Jie Xinyu; it's much easier.

It's unreasonable to give up and not take any action at all, isn't it?

Or have they already realized that their short accomplice is in trouble, and therefore are too cautious to act? Or have Tang Xihua and his group already succeeded and destroyed their hideout?

If that's the case, then there's nothing to regret. Who would give up a peaceful life to enjoy fighting and killing? She's not a pervert.

As Hong Xiaoduo was thinking, she noticed that there were no other pedestrians on this section of the official road. Although there were no high mountains or dense forests on both sides of the road, there were some small hills. This was the perfect place for someone who wanted to do something bad.

She didn't tell Tian Shu what to do next. Judging from the reactions of the robbers and assassins she encountered along the way, none of them took her seriously.

So, if they're targeting her and her seven children this time, they probably won't send many people over!

Just as I was guessing, sure enough, people appeared on the hillside ahead—one, two? That's it?

"Tian Shu, stop the car. Don't just watch the excitement. Keep an eye on the other directions for me," Hong Xiaoduo said to the children in the car, half-jokingly and half-seriously, looking at the two people on horseback.

The children immediately agreed. The older ones in the carriage rushed to look out of the windows in all directions, their eyes wide open. "It's great that they can help her!"

The two men who rode down the hillside saw that the people in the carriage on the road had spotted them, but they neither panicked and whipped their horses to speed up forward, nor did they turn their horses around to run away.

Instead, the young woman who had been sitting on the carriage shaft stopped, jumped off the carriage, walked a few steps toward them with her hands behind her back, and then stopped there, seemingly waiting for them.

"Brother Gou, this is truly top-quality stuff." A man immediately said excitedly after seeing Hong Xiaoduo's face clearly.

Gou Ge didn't laugh. His hand gripping the reins tightened involuntarily. "Mu Dou, don't be careless. I feel like this young lady is a bit strange."

Mu Dou, however, disagreed, saying, "Brother Gou, you're overthinking it. Whether this young lady is right or not, the old man knows better than you or me. He's seen her, he's sure she's the right person, and he only sent the two of us. That means the old man is sure, and the two of us can handle them."

"This old man has been making a living this way for years, how could he be wrong?"

Although she said that, seeing that Gou Ge had no intention of going forward, Mu Dou habitually pulled on the reins and stopped the horse.

"Brother Gou, don't tell me they're just bait sent by the government to catch us, or is there a master hidden in this carriage?" Mu Dou suddenly remembered that Brother Gou had been doing this for over ten years and was quite experienced.

Since Brother Gou noticed something was wrong, there's only one possibility.

The situation remained at a standstill; the two men on horseback neither stepped forward nor left.

Hong Xiaoduo wondered, were they not robbers? Or were they waiting for other accomplices? Did they think so highly of her?

"Are there any people appearing in other directions?" Hong Xiaoduo asked in a low voice.

The children inside the car all responded, "No."

Tian Shu saw this, jumped off the carriage, went to the donkey cart behind, took a winnowing basket, scooped some fodder from the fodder bag, poured some for the donkey, and then went to the front to feed the horse.

"Brother Gou, something's really not right. Look at that little brat, he's so calm. Should we leave?" Mu Dou whispered.

Gou Ge didn't respond and remained motionless. Having done this for years, this was the first time he'd encountered such a scene. It was a little awkward; the other woman looked like an ordinary young lady, yet he felt uneasy.

Seeing their reaction, Hong Xiaoduo was also wondering what they were up to. Were they going to make a move or not? If they didn't, she was leaving.

If the other party truly doesn't make a move, she really will leave. If taking seven children can avoid a fight, then she should try to avoid it. Let the real heroes do the work of ridding the people of evil...
