A sound of pleasure
Hearing this, Su Yang was stunned and puzzled. Under his feet were clearly twisted and tangled with dead tree roots with no gaps left.
"Come with me."
Si Xi transformed into her original form, instantly becoming much smaller. Her nose kept sniffing, and soon she led them to the downward slope. After walking for a while, they finally reached a boulder half a man's height.
"Please, someone please move this stone and move it away."
Heqi did as he was told and moved the stone away. It was pitch black inside, so dark that one couldn't see one's hand in front of one's face. Suyang lit a fire to illuminate the room, which was clearly a passage, but it was piled with countless bones, a terrifying sight.
"Don't be afraid. I deliberately collected these bones and piled them here to scare away intruders. This trick is particularly effective. Apart from me, no monster has ever lived here."
He Qi said, "There's no sign of any monsters ever living here. It's not because they're afraid of the bones you'll throw, but because there's a strong demonic force protecting this place."
Si Xi asked doubtfully, "Huh? Then why didn't I notice it?"
"Because you are too weak."
Si Xi rolled his eyes speechlessly, and continued to move forward without saying a word, but in fact he was repeating his words in a sarcastic tone in his heart.
Su Yang looked at the neatly entwined, withered roots overhead and said, "Tree roots often grow intricately. Natural growth would never be this neat. It must have been done by someone, but who could have done it?"
Si Xi continued, "Of course I want to protect the people here."
"Talking nonsense."
"Heqi, Sixi is right. We are all overthinking it. Who is the person who wants to protect this place the most? Youyou! Even if he hates Qinghui, this is where he and Xingyi live. It is his home. Is it possible that Youyou is still alive? Maybe he knows Qinghui's true face!"
Su Yang shook his head and said, "I remember Youyou's demonic power. Because of Qing Hui, Youyou's demonic power is unique and clearly different from that of ordinary demons. The one here can't be Youyou."
Cha Suxun said, "This demonic power is like the Xie Abyss. It's filled with resentment and anger."
"Xie Yuan? He does like to breathe in this miasma, but this wooden house is a ruin to others. Why would he protect it? Unless he has it, otherwise, it's unrealistic." He Qi said.
"Yes. Youyou is a good boy. I have told you before that Youyou always remembers Xingyi's teachings and must not become a bad boy with blood on his hands, as that would become a stain on his father. He suffered so much bullying in the past, but he always remembered Xingyi's words. How could he become a demon like Xieyuan?" Su Yang said.
Su Yang was still explaining along the way that it was impossible for it to be Xie Yuan, until he saw the small wooden house, Su Yang stopped.
Cha Suxun looked around the cabin and then asked Su Yang, "Do you recognize this cabin?"
"I recognize it, it's the house where the father and son lived. Wow, it still looks just like it did back then." Su Yang stroked the wood, sighing repeatedly, tears welling up in his eyes. "Look at how well this wooden house has been preserved. There's no sign of corrosion on the wood, not even any termites."
"Didn't you say that Youyou buried Xing, burned their house, and left Yuemang Mountain, and you never saw him again? The wooden house they lived in shouldn't exist here."
After hearing what Cha Suxun said, Su Yang's mind instantly flashed with the image of the house on fire. The raging fire burned for a long time, illuminating the surroundings of the house.
Only then did he realize that something was wrong. He had been looking for this wooden house since he entered Yuemang Mountain, and had completely forgotten that Youyou had already burned it down.
"Yeah...how could I have forgotten..."
"Do you often forget things?"
"No, this is the first time."
Yuanli interrupted, "Perhaps you also didn't realize you'd forgotten something before. Perhaps you rarely mentioned the events of Yuemang Mountain, or perhaps you kept silent about them. No one reminded you like your husband did, so you didn't even realize you'd forgotten anything. I think you should recall your past more carefully, or perhaps tell us again to avoid missing anything important."
"Okay, I'll think about it carefully." Su Yang looked solemn, and concentrated on recalling the past, fearing that he would miss any key points.
Cha Suxun asked Heqi to check whether there was any danger in the wooden house. After getting a definite answer, he felt at ease to push open the door of the wooden house.
The cabin was simple, consisting of two bedrooms, one large and one small, a small kitchen, and a main hall. Hanging in the hall were numerous calligraphy and paintings, nearly all of which bore a line of poetry, signed with the names: Qing Hui, Xing Yi.
Most of those poems were obscure love poems. Yuanli couldn't read or understand them, so Cha Suxun read them to her one by one and patiently explained their meanings.
Entering the bedroom, the largest one should be the one where Qinghui and Xingyi live. On the wooden table in the corner is placed Xingyi's tablet. The incense burner in front of the tablet is full of ashes, and there are some wooden sticks left after the incense burnt out.
Heqi raised the fire in his palm, allowing the flames to illuminate the wall more clearly. Everyone could then see clearly that there was a painting hanging on the wall.
The painting should depict a family, but Qinghui's face was torn off.
Yuanli pointed at the painting and asked Su Yang, "Have you ever seen this painting?"
"Yes, I have. Fortunately, I drew it. He showed it to me and asked me if it looked like the real thing."
"You've seen Qinghui in the painting, and you've also seen Qinghui himself. Do you still remember his appearance?"
Seeing Su Yang shaking his head, Yuan Li said again: "No, you must remember, this is crucial. As long as you can remember Qing Hui's appearance, it is possible to find Qing Hui by looking at the portrait or identifying the person.
"It's been so long, I can't even remember what Youyou and Xingyi look like, let alone Qinghui."
He Qi said, "Sister, what you said makes sense, but what if the so-called Qing Hui changed her appearance and came to the lower world? I don't mean to pour cold water on you, but the fact is that this is a possibility."
"I know. Isn't there still a 50% chance? If there's even a sliver of a solution, we have to try it. It's better than just sitting there and waiting anxiously."
As they were all searching the room for clues related to Qing Hui's identity, Yuanli quietly brought Cha Suxun over and whispered in his ear, "Didn't you say that the demonic power maintaining this place resembles Xie Yuan? What Heqi said outside is not without reason. Have you seen Xie Yuan's true appearance? Does it look like Youyou in the portrait? You can also think about the monsters who followed Xie Yuan. Youyou's bloodline is special, so it's not like finding a needle in a haystack."
"Xie Yuan's appearances are usually incomplete. I can't confirm whether Youyou in the portrait is the same person as Xie Yuan."
"Take that painting away later, and don't let Su Yang know."
"Do you think there's something wrong with Su Yang?"
"I don't think he's a bad person, but I just feel like there's something strange about him. This matter involves the heavens and even the evil abyss. It's a serious matter, so we better be more cautious."
"Okay, I'll do as you say."
Yuanli nodded, and then asked Heqi and Suyang, "Did you find anything?"
Heqi replied, "No. This family is too poor. They don't have many things. Qinghui is too stingy with his wife and children. He doesn't even buy them good things."
"Here I am! I have it here! Come quickly."
Hearing this, several people went to Si Xi and looked into the large drawer she pointed to. They saw a lot of rolled-up scrolls lying inside.
Si Xi casually pulled out a few portraits and spread them out, pointing at them clumsily with her pig's hoof, saying, "Look, there's a picture of my beloved son Youyou when he was seven, and another one of him when he was thirteen. All the pictures piled here are of Youyou. Don't you suspect Youyou is Xie Yuan? As long as we find the last picture Xing Yi painted, we'll know what Youyou looks like when he grows up, and whether he's the same person as Xie Yuan. Even if Youyou isn't Xie Yuan, we can use the pictures to find the real Youyou. Youyou has seen his father, but doesn't he know which immortal lord in heaven is Qing Hui?"
Everyone opened the paintings one by one, and only at the bottom did they find the last one painted by Xingyi. Yuanli looked at the portrait of Youyou and felt that she looked familiar, but she couldn't figure out where she had seen it before.
Yuanli rolled up the portrait and placed it in the Lingbao silver bell. After putting it away, she subconsciously looked at Su Yang, and sure enough, he was staring at her bell.
"I just feel like Youyou looks familiar. I have a feeling I've seen her somewhere, but I can't remember where exactly. So I want to take the portrait with me so I can find her more easily." After saying that, Yuanli added, "I'll return it to you after I find you."
"It's okay, you take it. I just don't know why we are looking for Youyou. Aren't we trying to find out the identity of Hui Xianjun?"
"We're looking for Youyou to find out the identity of Huixianjun." Yuanli observed the subtle expressions on Suyang's face and asked, "What's wrong? Are you worried that we might hurt Youyou? Or is there something unspeakable that prevents you from looking for Youyou?"
"No, I'm just asking."
Yuanli asked in a joking tone, revealing her true thoughts: "Okay. Seeing how nervous you were, I thought you didn't want us to find Youyou."
"How could that be? I really hope you can find Youyou. Don't worry, Youyou is the child I watched grow up after all. Whenever it comes to things related to him, I always get overly nervous."
"I was just kidding. Don't take it too seriously. I know you care about Youyou. Okay, let's go. We've looked around the cabin but haven't found anything. Let's go to the top of the mountain and see what's lurking here. Suyang and Sixi, lead the way."
"good."
After leaving the wooden house, several people turned to go to the top of the mountain. On the way, many monsters stared at them, which made people feel creepy and tense.
Cha Suxun held the frightened Yuanli in his arms, walking close to her back. He leaned close to her ear and whispered softly, "Ants, nothing to be afraid of. You are countless times stronger than them. They should be afraid of you."
Yuanli nodded, motioned for him to lean closer to her ear, and whispered, "Did you get it?"
Cha Suxun imitated her and whispered in her ear, "No. That painting was transformed, not the real thing."
