Dream of the Jade Hairpin
Yunqi Que was overwhelmed by a strong sense of sleepiness, and she couldn't resist it at all. She fell into a deep sleep until she was awakened by the gentle and ethereal voice of a woman.
At this moment, she was lying at the bottom of a dark cave. The broken palace floor was just out of reach above her head. From a distance, she could also see the second floor terrace and stairs of the palace.
A strange feeling came from the warm chest, and at the same time, a soft green light emanated from the heart.
Yunqi Que felt his chest in surprise. There were no scars, but a green light was emanating from his skin.
From the darkness far ahead, a ray of soft green light floated over. It slowly approached until it was entwined with the soft light emanating from her heart.
When the soft light merged into one, she suddenly had an extreme urge to go to the other side of the soft light to see what was there.
After taking a few steps, she suddenly heard the sound of fighting above her head, interrupting her progress.
Yun Qique looked up and saw that the railing on the second floor was broken. Lan Zhuochi was stabbed in the chest by Yun Jinglu with a sword. The clothes on his back were quickly stained red with blood, which was very creepy.
Yun Jinglu, holding the sword, fell with Lan Zhuochi.
The ground that was broken and hollow when she fell now seemed to have a transparent barrier. They would not fall below the floor, and she could see through the scene above.
Lan Zhuochi fell heavily to the ground, his head tilted to one side, his eyes open in death, blood still flowing from the corner of his mouth, a large pool of blood quickly flowing out of his broken head, and his broken limbs were in a strange and twisted posture.
Soon, she could not see Lan Zhuochi's head clearly because the ground was covered with blood.
Although Yun Jinglu fell with him, he was not killed because the floor was shorter and there was Lan Zhuochi as a "cushion" at the bottom. He just fainted and it was impossible to tell what injuries he had.
The shocked Yunqique was so frightened that she took a long time to recover. Looking at the pool of blood, her heart ached and she couldn't breathe smoothly. She had to endure the severe pain and breathe in and out through her mouth in short and slow breaths until the pain gradually subsided.
My eyes felt sore and warm, and tears kept flowing. The sadness in my heart was intertwined with pain, making me feel very uncomfortable, as if I had lost a very important person.
Strangely, her gaze was uncontrollably locked on Lan Zhuochi, and her emotions were inexplicably out of control because of him, not Yun Jinglu.
Lan Zhuochi's figure slowly disappeared, leaving behind only a large pool of blood and the unconscious Yun Jinglu.
The gentle and ethereal female voice that woke her up sounded again in front of her, inexplicably attracting all her attention.
On the other side of the soft green light, Lan Zhuochi suddenly appeared, holding a beautiful wooden lantern with exquisite and intricate patterns painted on it.
His body was clean, without any bloodstains. He was wearing a robe of sky-blue glazed flowing satin. Under the light of the lantern, the shimmering hem of his robe was blown by the wind, like the brilliant aurora in the sky.
Although they had the same face, Yun Qique had a vague feeling that he was not Lan Zhuochi.
He was most likely not a human, but for some reason, Yun Qique was not afraid of him even though he knew he was different. Instead, he felt an inexplicable sense of security.
He walked over to her and took her hand. The warmth felt just like a living person. Soft green light was like a thread, connecting their hearts.
"You are not allowed to marry another man."
His tone was filled with aggrieved anger, but also with a hint of flattery and pleading.
"Are you Lan Zhuochi?"
"Yes and no."
"I don't understand..." Yun Qique looked up at the pool of blood, "Lan Zhuochi, is he dead?"
"No." He followed her gaze and looked up. "That's not true. It's the murderous evil thoughts that have been magnified in Yun Jinglu's heart. He really, really wants to kill Lan Zhuochi."
"The Lanzhuo Pond above our heads was Yun Jinglu's imagination. Was the unconscious Yun Jinglu also a figment of her imagination?"
"No, he is the real Yun Jinglu."
After saying this, he gently cupped her cheek with his right hand and applied a little force to make her turn her head to look at him.
"Is your heart about to fall to him? My lady, you must love me, and only me."
His last words were like a devilish sound, disturbing her mind and confusing her heart. She fell drowsily into his arms, closed her eyes and fell asleep, sinking into a wonderful dream.
In the dream, she possessed another noble identity and experienced a love with him that was not accepted by the world.
She could clearly and deeply feel the love between them, until life and death separated them and she woke up from her dream.
When she opened her eyes and saw his face, Yun Qique felt extremely sad. In her dream, it was clearly death that separated them, but she always felt that something had changed between them, as if they could not easily go back.
She still remembered the love she had for him in her dream.
Even though I was lying in his arms, my heart felt empty and lost.
"Who are you?"
"Didn't my wife relive our love from our past life in her dream? Why don't you know who I am? Do you really not know, or has my wife already fallen in love with another man in this life?"
He hugged her, lifted her up a little, lowered his head and buried it in her left shoulder, rubbing her neck affectionately.
"My dear, anything is fine, but please don't abandon me, okay?"
Yun Qique didn't dislike his intimate touch; on the contrary, she kind of liked it. But the words Yun Jinglu had taught her about "differences between men and women" suddenly came to her mind, and all her thoughts were distracted.
"My lady, do you have to lie in my arms and think about what another man said to you? There are differences between men and women. That's for outsiders. We have been husband and wife for several lifetimes. I am not an outsider, he is."
Even though Yun Qique didn't understand much about emotions, she could hear the possessiveness and jealousy in his words.
"You want me to believe in past lives just because of a dream?"
"It's more than just a dream." He pointed at his heart and emitted the emerald green light that was connected to her. "Also, our hearts are connected."
"My lady, remember, in this life, my name is Lan Zhuochi."
He pressed the lantern into her hands and said his final goodbyes. After looking at her for a long time with longing, he said, "With this lantern to illuminate you, keep going forward and you will find the way out. My lady, you must keep this lantern safe and don't let anyone take it away from you."
He turned into a puff of smoke and disappeared before her eyes.
Yunqi Que held the lantern and walked forward as he said.
After walking a long way, the palace on top of the mountain had become a distant speck of light behind her. She was so tired from walking that she didn't dare stop. Even though she couldn't see a way out, she still believed in him.
Until she said something to comfort herself in her heart: He won't lie to me.
The wooden lantern in her hand emitted a strong and dazzling light, dispelling all the darkness. She was blinded by the light and felt the weight in her hand rapidly decreasing. The part of the hand she was holding tightly began to shrink, gradually changing from a smooth log to a cool and slender jade.
She opened her eyes only after she felt the light fade away through her eyelids.
She was still on the second-floor balcony where she had stood before falling, and what she was holding tightly in her hand had turned into a jade hairpin.
Suddenly, a sharp blade cut a scarlet blood mark on the back of her right hand, which was holding the jade hairpin tightly. In pain, she subconsciously held the jade hairpin tighter.
He raised his hand to observe the injury, and round beads of blood flowed through the gaps between his fingers, into the palm of his hand, and stained the jade hairpin.
In the blink of an eye, the whole body of the lily of the valley emitted a dazzling red light.
The deception had mostly dissipated, and the lavish palace hall was suddenly filled with a pile of bones: the remains of mortals, monsters, and animals alike. The bones were pristine and intact, not like the remains of flesh left there for ages, left to decay naturally.
The floor of the main hall was no longer clean. It was covered with dried bloodstains, scratches from swords and weapons, and traces of fighting.
The palace began to crumble, the walls and floors seemed to begin to soften, and Yunqi Que was a little unsteady on his feet.
Recalling what Lan Zhuochi and Xu Tu had said before about Chi Xu's secret magic weapon, Yun Qique guessed that this jade hairpin was most likely Chi Xu's secret magic weapon.
But why is this jade hairpin related to her?
Perhaps this has something to do with her background.
Thinking of this, Yunqi Que wrapped the jade hairpin tightly with a handkerchief and hid it in the slender interlayer at the lapel. Then he began to continue looking for Lan Zhuochi along the red rope.
In order to avoid running into Yun Jinglu's men, Yun Qique was extremely cautious. Every time he walked a distance, he would listen carefully to the movements nearby before he dared to move forward stealthily like a thief. He was so nervous that his heart almost jumped into his throat.
Along the way, there were many bones, and she kicked a skull accidentally. The skull rolled far away and hit the corner of the wall with a loud noise, which frightened her heart.
Before she could recover from the shock, a limping old man suddenly came out from the corner. He was hunched over, his back swollen, as if he was carrying a huge burden. He couldn't stand up straight, so he could only look at her with his head tilted to the side.
He was very old, his skin was as dry as old tree bark, and his cloudy eyes were rolling around. He didn't look like a good person.
As the old man approached her, he asked in a hoarse voice, "Girl, have you seen a green hairpin?" A malicious smile appeared on the corner of the old man's mouth.
Yunqi Que was so frightened that it ran away.
Strangely enough, after the old man appeared, this palace corridor began to behave strangely. No matter how fast one ran, one could not reach the end.
Even though the old man walked steadily and quickly, he was lame and old, so he couldn't catch up with the young woman at all. He could only keep a distance of two or three meters between them.
Yunqi Que looked back worriedly, only to see the old man raise his hand and gouge out his two eyeballs, with blood flowing all over his face.
His hands, holding his eyeballs, were bloody and horrifying. The old man suddenly stopped, tilted his head to look at her, and threw his eyeballs at her like a ball.
His eyeballs rolled towards her, and the moment they hit her feet, Yun Qique's body instantly stiffened and he was unable to move.
"Girl, have you seen a green hairpin?"
The old man's eyeballs rolled in front of her, and his black pupils moved, moving back and forth on the ground to control the direction of his pupils facing her, so that his gaze met hers.
