Pregnancy with a ghost
There seemed to be something under the bed, repeatedly disturbing the broken pottery pieces, making a rustling noise.
The wall that I was holding onto with my hands suddenly became wet and sticky, and even a little soft. The touch was a bit like the outer layer of a hard, lumpy steamed bun that had been dried in the air for many days and then softened by water.
The mucus secreted by the wall kept pulling at her hand, as if it had life, multiplying and growing crazily, constantly shrinking, and pulling her stuck hand towards the wall. No matter how she struggled to clean it, it was of no use.
Finally defeated, her palm was forcibly pulled back to the wall.
Before she could think about what the slime was, the wall turned into a swamp, her hand against the wall began to sink into it, and more and more slime flowed out of the hole in the wall.
Until her hand was "swallowed" by the wall, and her ten fingers were tightly clasped with another pair of hands covered with mucus behind the wall. She was so scared that she almost couldn't breathe and fainted.
She was so frightened that her whole body was trembling. Her fear was so magnified that she couldn't move a step. She froze in place, her neck seemed to be rusted, and she couldn't turn her head properly.
However, in this dark and enclosed room, her night vision ability was suddenly enhanced to a level beyond that of ordinary people, and all the outlines in the room became clear.
Especially the baby crawling next to the broken jar under the bed.
The baby was very small, about the same size as a skinny premature baby at birth.
According to common sense, such a baby should not be able to even turn over or sit up straight, but it can crawl for a long time, and can flexibly control its body and crawl steadily.
From the moment it made eye contact with the baby, it stared at her intently.
After tilting its head to look at her for a few seconds, the baby quickly crawled towards her, and at the same time, it grew at a speed visible to the naked eye.
The baby had grown rapidly into a child of about six years old by the time he crawled to her feet.
It stood up, grabbed her arm, and helped her out of the trap effortlessly.
"Who are you?"
What came out of Yuanli's mouth was the voice of a strange woman, and the questions she asked were not what she had thought.
The child touched Yuanli's belly, which had grown in size at some point, and replied, "I am the child in my mother's womb. This is not the place for you. You must return to your body before the cockcrows and the sun rises."
"What does it mean to return to my physical body?"
"The more Mother knows, the slimmer her hope of returning to her physical body becomes."
The child looked worried and anxiously pulled her to jog.
Everything in the room began to dissipate and turn into darkness. The child still held her hand and continued to run until he saw a light in the distance and stopped.
"I'll accompany you here. Run towards the light and don't look back. You will be able to return to your body."
It touched Yuanli's belly again and asked her, "Mother, you will give birth to my child, right? If you don't want me, can you hold me one last time before you leave?"
It is so pitiful, so lovable, and motherly love overflows to the extreme at this moment.
Even though Yuanli was conscious enough to know what the child in front of her was, the body she was dreaming of had the opposite extreme idea.
The years of unrequited wish for a child were about to be fulfilled. At that time, she no longer cared about the strangeness around her. She grasped this only hope as if she had grabbed a life-saving straw.
She squatted down and hugged it, tears of joy and excitement in her eyes.
"Of course, of course, as long as you are willing to be born into my belly, I will give birth to you."
Hearing this, it hugged her face to face, and behind her back, where she couldn't see, a happy and greedy smile appeared on its face.
"We agreed, Mom, you must protect me so that I can be born safely."
"Yeah, it's settled."
After the hug, she was back in the room in the blink of an eye, but it was still there.
It took her hand and walked back to the bed, let her lie down on the bed, and tucked the quilt for her with its little hands with great effort. There were some dirty black handprints left on the quilt.
It slept on the quilt, gently patted her to sleep with its right hand, and sang nursery rhymes to soothe children to sleep.
The ethereal sound of children's singing echoed throughout the room, and she gradually felt sleepy.
It stopped patting her hand to comfort her, took a glowing fruit from its own chest and fed it to her mouth.
Yuanli recognized the fruit. It was exactly the same fruit that the woman who imprisoned her picked from the chests of two children's skeletons buried under the grass in the yard and force-fed her.
Yuanli suddenly became alert and resisted, but she had no control over the body in her dream.
"If mom eats the fruit, she will definitely be able to get pregnant. Didn't mom say she wanted mine? Mom, be obedient. Ah~ open your mouth."
After swallowing the fruit, she couldn't resist the sleepiness and fell asleep.
When she opened her eyes again, the face of the man beside her looking down at her came into view. The dim candlelight made the man's face look scary for a moment, even strange to her.
She shrank back in shock, and in the blink of an eye, the man's face returned to the way she remembered it.
While she was dazed, Yuanli separated from the woman's body. She began to watch the entire dream from a third perspective, like a disembodied bystander.
Yuanli saw at a glance that the dirty handprints were still on the quilt.
The man asked her what was wrong with a concerned look on his face, saying that she kept talking in her sleep, and the meaning of her dreams was the same: My child, I swear to protect you until you are born safely.
The woman didn't bother to answer him. She rolled and crawled out of bed and leaned over to look at the jar under the bed.
Sure enough, just like in the dream, the jar was broken, and the broken pieces of pottery were scattered on the ground. It seemed that something had crawled over and moved the broken pieces.
"It's broken, it's broken... Husband, did you hear any noise tonight?"
The man on the bed frowned at the woman with strange behavior and expression, then shook his head and said, "No, what's wrong with you, my lady?"
"Are you sure! Are you sure, husband? Think about it carefully." The woman kneeling on the ground suddenly propped herself up, quickly leaned over to her husband's position on the couch, looked up and asked, her voice suddenly rising by two decibels.
The woman's startled movements made the man panic and frightened, so that he swallowed his saliva to relieve the pressure of being stared at and questioned by her.
"At night here, there's not even a sound of birds singing or insects chirping. It's so quiet that I'm a little scared. I've hardly ever fallen asleep, so I'm sure of it."
She excitedly grabbed his hand and leaned forward a little, "Husband! We are having a baby! You are going to be a father! I saw our baby in my pregnancy dream. He is so handsome, so fair and tender."
Noticing the man's slowly withdrawing hand, her expression suddenly fell, and she was very unhappy. "Are you unhappy? Why do you look so suspicious and scared?"
"I didn't. Haven't we been wanting this child for hundreds of years? How could I be unhappy? My lady, it's too dark in this room. You can't see clearly, so you misunderstood. I'll go get a candle."
As he said this, the man maintained a stiff smile to calm her down, and hurriedly got out of bed to get a candle.
"I can see it clearly. I can see everything in this room, including the pile of bones in the corner."
He squinted in the direction the woman was looking, but it was too dark and he couldn't see the bones she was talking about.
At this moment, countless images appeared in his mind, such as dead bones and ghosts, all of which were clear and complete. He even wondered if his wife was possessed by an evil spirit.
"Bones...what...bones? Are they human? Madam, please don't scare me."
She turned around and glanced at him sideways. After a long silence, she said, "No, it's a mouse."
The man holding the candle breathed a sigh of relief. He changed the subject and said, "My lady, what were you looking for? Did something fall under the bed? Your husband will help you find it. Go to bed and continue sleeping. Don't sit on the floor. It's cold."
She obediently climbed onto the bed and pointed to the center of the bed, "Bend over and look here."
The man just timidly bent down and looked in the candlelight, when suddenly a child's face appeared at the edge of the candlelight, and then suddenly approached him quickly, facing him, with the tip of their noses only a fist away, and the child grinned with a big sinister smile.
A woman's calm voice came from above her head. She said, "The jar is really broken, both in dreams and in reality. Husband, we are going to have a child. Do you see it?"
The man looked up and saw the woman with her head drooping on the side of the bed. With the candlelight, he could see clearly that there were many red bloodshot eyes and she had not blinked since she looked at him.
At the base of her neck, which was covered by her loose black hair, four dark purple fingers of the child were revealed, clinging tightly to her shoulders.
The man fainted immediately from fright.
The woman lying on the edge of the bed slowly sat up and looked into Yuanli's eyes accurately.
Tears and blood streamed from her eyes. She stroked her belly and said calmly, "Don't be like me. You got pregnant with this damn thing and you can't get rid of it."
That night, when Yuanli woke up from a nightmare, she found that her hand was also placed on her lower abdomen.
Heng Jin said that she had been stroking her lower abdomen up and down while she was asleep. As soon as she fell asleep, there was ghost power floating around. He was afraid that they were transmitting information, and Yuanli did not do anything to hurt herself, so he did not wake her up, but just observed her condition from time to time.
After the first night, Yuanli would dream of the couple every time she fell asleep.
As the woman's belly swelled abnormally quickly, her maternal love reached a perverted level. The man who realized something was wrong tried to persuade her to abort the fetus many times but to no avail and threatened to commit suicide, but she would rather die than do so.
When she dreamed of them on the third night, the woman gave birth. Just like the first time she dreamed of her, she gave birth to a ghost baby.
Before she died, she warned Yuanli again: "If you get pregnant with this damn thing, you can't get rid of it."
The nightmare did not end there. The ghost fetus sat quietly between her legs. After chewing the umbilical cord connecting mother and child, it crawled under the bed.
Then, it dragged out the dead man bit by bit and began to eat his body.
