Chapter 4 (This is a joke to the Emperor)

Upon hearing this news, Shen Yunxi finally felt relieved, thinking that Junxuan probably didn't take her matter to heart.

Shen Yunxi couldn't describe the feeling in her heart; it must have been complicated. She couldn't possibly let go of the man she had loved for eleven years overnight.

She should have no further involvement with him in the future, and she needs to start her own life again. Right now, she's still away, so it's best to go back and think about what to do next.

"Zhizhi, go pack your things. We'll be back at the manor later. Make sure no one finds out I'm injured," Shen Yunxi instructed again.

Unfortunately, Shen Yunxi only brought Zhizhi with her when she came out today. She was a little worried that Zhizhi wouldn't be able to handle things on her own.

But now that things are like this, it's too late to find someone.

Zhizhi hesitated for a long time, wanting to speak but ultimately unable to resist asking Shen Yunxi.

"Your injuries are so severe, but did the Emperor attack you because he felt offended?"

It's no wonder Zhizhi made such a guess; Junxuan's attitude towards Shen Yunxi was extremely bad, not to mention that she went to find Junxuan today and made a rather poor decision.

Shen Yunxi was taken aback, realizing Zhizhi's resistance to Junxuan, and she shook her head slightly.

"No, this matter has nothing to do with His Majesty."

Zhizhi understood what she was saying and realized that Shen Yunxi didn't want to say more, so she didn't continue the topic and took good care of Shen Yunxi, who then fell asleep again.

By evening, everyone in Yeonsan Tang was fully prepared to return to the palace, as requested by Jun-hyun.

Everyone was happy when they arrived, but the encounter with the assassin ruined their mood, and they weren't very happy when they returned. Their fun was definitely dampened.

Shen Yunxi does not live in the palace. Since the events of her previous life have not occurred, her reputation has not been ruined, so she does not need to return to the palace with the Empress Dowager and Jun Xuan.

The Empress Dowager had already boarded her carriage, and Junxuan's carriage was in front of her; on the surface, everything appeared calm.

The Empress Dowager originally wanted to say something to Shen Yunxi, but Granny Tian said that Shen Yunxi had been frightened and her face was quite pale when she came out. Therefore, she gave up the idea and just asked Granny Tian to instruct Zhizhi to take good care of Shen Yunxi.

Although Shen Yunxi's body was now bandaged, the wound was so deep that every step she took was excruciating and extremely painful.

Fortunately, with Zhizhi supporting her, Shen Yunxi's slow walk only made people think that she was delicate and that the assassin's attack had frightened her so much that she had fallen ill.

Fortunately, there weren't many people at Yanshan Soup today. It was the Empress Dowager who specially created an opportunity for Shen Yunxi and Jun Xuan. There were only a few noble ladies, including the three of them and three imperial concubines. They didn't seem to care about the relationship between Jun Xuan and Shen Yunxi.

The Empress Dowager and the imperial concubines had already boarded the carriage. Jun Xuan was either inside or hadn't come out yet. Since Shen Yunxi hadn't seen him, she guessed that he must be inside the carriage and breathed a sigh of relief.

It wasn't that she was afraid of Junxuan, but she simply didn't want to have anything to do with him anymore.

The matter of the late emperor's bestowal of a marriage still needs to be carefully considered.

Just as Shen Yunxi approached the carriage to get on, she suddenly heard the sound she least wanted to hear from her left.

"Miss Shen, what's wrong? Why do you look so fragile and pale? Were you frightened by the assassin today?" Jun Xuan asked coolly, his gaze fixed on Shen Yunxi's back, then seemingly lingering on her right shoulder.

Even without looking at Junxuan, he could tell how deep Shen Yunxi's wound was, but seeing her trying so hard to appear uninjured, he was quite surprised.

Shen Yunxi closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and turned around. She thought he was in the carriage, but he hadn't arrived yet. She could only quickly curtsy to Jun Xuan and say, "Your Majesty, may you be well. I was indeed frightened by the assassin today. I hope Your Majesty will forgive me."

At this moment, Shen Yunxi was very calm. She glanced at Jun Xuan and then looked away, her gaze particularly indifferent.

Of course, if you ignore the fact that she is holding Zhizhi's hand tightly, you really can't tell what her emotions are.

"So that's how it is. I thought there was another reason." Jun Xuan looked deeply at Shen Yunxi without looking away.

Upon hearing this, Shen Yunxi simply smiled and said, "By the Emperor's grace, I will be fine after a few days of rest."

Jun Xuan's lips curled into a faint smile. He was quite surprised by Shen Yunxi's words. It didn't seem like Shen Yunxi's way of doing things. Even if she didn't say that she had broken into the Supreme Hot Spring, just saying that she saved him would have a different effect.

Strange, could it be that the hot spring deliberately drowned her, and incidentally made her clear her mind?

The two were five or six meters apart. This time, Junxuan couldn't quite understand Shen Yunxi's actions and didn't know what her next move was.

Actually, today should have been a great opportunity. She shielded him from the arrow, and if she had taken the opportunity to propose to honor the marriage contract and marry him, he probably wouldn't have been able to refuse. But she gave up such a perfect opportunity.

“That’s excellent.” Junxuan said meaningfully.

Shen Yunxi pretended not to understand Jun Xuan's implied meaning and gave a slight curtsy, "Your Majesty, I am not feeling well and will take my leave first."

"Very well, Miss Shen should get some rest." Seeing Shen Yunxi's humble and obedient appearance, Jun Xuan chuckled.

"Thank you, Your Majesty." After saying this, Shen Yunxi quickly tugged at Zhizhi's sleeve to get into the carriage.

It took Zhizhi a lot of effort to help Shen Yunxi into the carriage. Both of them were exhausted. Shen Yunxi's back was soaked with cold sweat. She thought no one knew, but little did she know that this scene had been witnessed by Junxuan.

Junxuan smiled knowingly, gently placing his right hand on the red cinnabar bracelet on his left hand, and flicking the round red cinnabar beads, each about the size of a thumbnail.

After a long while, Junxuan finally lifted his foot and stepped forward.

Shen Yunxi had struggled so hard to walk such a short distance, but Jun Xuan arrived in just a few steps. He paused, did not turn around, and went straight onto the dragon carriage.

"Return to the palace," Junxuan's voice rang out.

The carriage moved slowly, and Shen Yunxi finally felt relieved. She leaned against Zhizhi to rest, feeling as if everything was a dream.

In this ever-changing world, it's truly astonishing that a speck of dust like her could be reborn.

Perhaps due to feeling too unwell, coupled with the medication she had taken, Shen Yunxi drifted off to sleep again, the swaying of the carriage refusing to wake her.

At some point, Shen Yunxi heard Zhizhi's shouts.

"Miss, what's wrong? Are you having a nightmare? It must be because today... We're almost there." Zhizhi felt sorry for her, but she knew she couldn't say anything more, otherwise it would easily get out.

It seems that the young ladies have become somewhat different now, as if they have become much more sensible, but this forced maturity is not what Zhizhi wants to see.

Your Majesty, I hope that one day you will not regret treating Miss this way.
