Chapter 101 Master and Servant Meet Again (1/2)

Shen Tangning couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine upon closer examination. She hadn't realized in her previous life that Chi Jingyu was so indecisive.

He came from a prominent family and had never lacked money, so he was unaware of the dangers of usury.

But if no one had suggested it, he probably wouldn't have thought of using this channel.

She couldn't help but suspect that someone was secretly instigating her, but she couldn't figure out who it could be for the time being.

Shen Xiwei isn't that stupid. She's still dreaming of becoming the wife of the heir apparent. The Chi family's heavy debts are of no benefit to her.

Shen Tangning's eyes were filled with mixed emotions. She hadn't expected the Chi family to be so full of hidden talents. Sending Chi Jingyu to borrow money at exorbitant interest rates was clearly a scheme against him.

However, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. She wasn't kind enough to remind Chi Jingyu, so she only instructed Yuan Zhao: "Keep an eye on him these days and see who he's been associating with."

Yuan Zhao nodded.

She narrowed her eyes slightly. This person was so cunning and scheming; she had to be wary of him.

Fortunately, the family split up early; otherwise, if they had gotten involved in the mess left by the Chi family, the second branch of the family would have had a lot more headaches.

Shen Tangning quickly put the matter out of her mind. Huiniang was very wary; she would visit occasionally but never asked about her secrets.

Gradually, Hui Niang seemed to become less wary of her.

That day, Shen Tangning sat in her room for a while as usual: "Your illness is chronic and difficult to cure. You will need to take good care of yourself in the future."

After drinking the medicine, Hui Niang was deeply moved: "You've gone to so much trouble."

She knew her own physical condition well; it was already dilapidated, and the days she spent tormented in the princess's residence made it even worse.

These days, the doctor has been taking meticulous care of her, and expensive herbal medicines have been delivered to her as if they were free. It's impossible for Hui Niang not to be grateful.

As Shen Tangning got up to leave, Huiniang suddenly called out to her, "Miss Shen."

She smiled almost imperceptibly, then turned around. His gaze suddenly hardened: "You said you could help me before, does that still stand?"

She thought and thought but still couldn't understand what she had that Shen Tangning wanted.

After all, in the eyes of outsiders, she was just a lowly servant, disfigured and without any special skills. No one knew her background or identity, nor what kind of fate she carried.

Shen Tangning opened her eyes wide as if in surprise, then quickly nodded happily: "Of course."

Hui Niang pursed her lips, mustered her courage, and asked, "Then what price do I need to pay?"

There's no such thing as a free lunch, and no one will help her for nothing.

Shen Tangning would come to see her every day, but it was just a casual chat. She didn't ask about her background or what had happened to her, which left Shen Tangning with no opportunity to be wary.

Unable to fathom the other party's thoughts, she had no choice but to take the initiative.

Upon hearing this, Shen Tangning's eyes flickered with a meaningful look: "No need, I have already received my due payment from you."

Hui Niang was completely bewildered upon hearing this, and her heart tightened. Everyone said that Miss Shen was intelligent, quick-witted, and kind-hearted, but she felt that the other party's actions were quite intriguing and not as pure and kind as she appeared.

But the other party did indeed save her and did not show any malice towards her.

Hui Niang bit her lip: "I wish to request an audience with the Princess."

She was prepared to be questioned after she finished speaking, staring at the other person nervously.

Unexpectedly, Shen Tangning only looked thoughtful, as if she was in a dilemma: "The Eldest Princess is not so easy to see."

The light in Hui Niang's eyes dimmed instantly. She pursed her lips, about to speak, but then she changed her tone, "However, I can give it a try."

Hui Niang looked up in disbelief with gratitude on her face and quickly got up to kowtow to her.

Shen Tangning helped her up, sighing, "What are you doing? How can I accept such a grand gesture?"
