Chapter 139 The Book Was Upside Down (1/2)

Shen Tangning came out of the kitchen, intending to check if Chi Yan had finished, but unexpectedly ran into Chi Jingyu coming out of the study.

She intended to pretend she hadn't seen her, but the other person noticed her and spoke first: "Tang Ning."

Upon hearing this address, Shen Tangning frowned, a wave of disgust washing over her.

Her relationship with Ji Jingyu doesn't seem that close, does it?

She calmly reminded him, "Your Highness should call me sister-in-law. Don't get it wrong next time."

These words were like a knife to Chi Jingyu's heart. He already couldn't accept the fact that Shen Tangning had married someone else, and she just had to remind him of it.

His eyes held an unreadable emotion as he stared intently at her: "Are you really content to marry Chi Yan?"

Shen Tangning tugged at the corner of her lips: "Whether I'm willing or not is another matter."

Before Chi Jingyu could even breathe a sigh of relief, she said casually, "Anyway, I'm living a pretty happy life."

It would be even better if no one bothered us.

A shadow suddenly flashed across the latter's eyes. Why was it like this?

She's clearly his wife!

They are clearly a match made in heaven!

Shen Tangning gave Chi Jingyu a strange look: "Young Master, you wouldn't be having second thoughts, would you?"

Chi Jingyu's brows relaxed, and he was about to speak when he saw a look of wariness in her eyes: "That 30,000 taels was given to me voluntarily. Even if you go back on your word, I can't return the money that's in my pocket!"

Why would someone want something back after giving it away?

She really underestimated how shameless Chi Jingyu was!

"..."

Upon hearing this, Chi Jingyu felt a lump in his throat.

The person in front of me clearly had the same familiar features, but their expression was unfamiliar.

Or perhaps, he never really understood Shen Tangning at all.

"I didn't come here to ask you for money." Chi Jingyu forced a smile as snowflakes fell on his shoulders and covered his dark eyelashes, making his figure appear exceptionally lonely.

His eyes were red-rimmed, and his lips moved as if he were heartbroken. "In your eyes, is this the kind of person I am?"

Shen Tangning examined it carefully for a moment and nodded: "That's good. In that case, take care."

After saying that, she turned around without the slightest hesitation. It was so cold outside, and it would be terribly cold to stand there like a fool.

Chi Jingyu hadn't expected her to be so heartless. Her pupils constricted, and she called out to her, "Tang Ning! Is there really no possibility for us anymore?"

Shen Tangning slowly turned around, her eyes unreadable: "Young Master, you really have a bad memory. Thirty thousand taels of silver, and all our grudges will be wiped away. You said it yourself."

A flicker of pain crossed Chi Jingyu's face as he gazed at her with deep eyes, his tone resolute: "You hate me?"

Shen Tangning curled her lips into a smile: "It's good that you know."

Having said that, she left without a second thought and walked into the house.

Chi Jingyu felt a great weight lifted from his shoulders, and a glint of light flashed in his dark eyes.

Love and hate are inseparable; the presence of hate indicates that she still has feelings for him.

...

As soon as Shen Tangning entered the room, Chi Yan immediately sat up straight, pretending to be calm.

She looked over with some suspicion: "What are you doing?"

He shrugged, his tone calm: "Can't you tell? Go read a book!"

Shen Tangning raised an eyebrow and pointed to the book in his hand: "But you're holding the book upside down."

Chi Yan subconsciously looked down and said, "..."

really.

He coughed violently, his face turning bright red: "I've been practicing reading books backwards lately. How about that? Surprised?"
