Chapter 174 Murder with Hidden Weapons (1/2)

Jiang Zhijing entered Jiang Heng's room: "Lord Liu, have you found any clues?"

As the weather warmed, the corpse began to emit a putrid stench. She glanced at it, then looked away, seemingly reluctant to do so.

Liu Yifu glanced at her expression and slowly said, "I've never understood how the Second Prince was poisoned."

Jiang Zhijing paused, then looked up at him.

“If it’s external poisoning, there must be a route of contact, but I’ve checked every corner of the room and there’s nothing unusual.” Liu Yifu’s eyes flashed with a hint of inquiry. “What’s even stranger is that the Second Prince doesn’t seem to have any injuries on his body.”

He walked to the Second Prince's side. The corpse had already shown signs of rigor mortis, but he was used to dealing with corpses and didn't even flinch.

"Of course, that's just what it looks like."

A slight change appeared in Jiang Zhijing's eyes as she watched him lean down and fiddle with Jiang Heng's hair, a strange emotion showing on her usually calm face.

"I found two tiny wounds on the Second Prince's head, hidden in his hair. They are difficult to notice without careful observation. I wonder if the princess can tell what kind of hidden weapon caused them?"

Jiang Zhijing moved to the other side under his questioning gaze, suppressing her fear as she examined the two bloodstains, her tone hesitant: "I can't tell, what do you think, Lord Liu?"

Liu Yi straightened up and scrutinized her with an ambiguous look: "I think it's a hidden weapon like a silver needle. These needles are as thin as cow hair, and the wounds they cause are not easy to detect."

Jiang Zhijing's eyes widened slightly: "So that's how it is!" She frowned. "But how can silver needles kill? Could it be that an assassin sneaked into my brother's room beforehand and waited until he was drunk before making his move?"

Confusion and surprise flashed in her eyes. Liu Yifu twitched the corners of his mouth, but the smile didn't reach his eyes: "Why can't it be that someone set up a trap in the Second Prince's room beforehand, waiting for him to accidentally trigger it, be injured by the poisoned silver needles, and then die from the poison?"

Jiang Zhijing looked terrified, clearly frightened. Her lips moved slightly: "So, this assassin is very likely among us?"

She stepped forward urgently, her expression pleading, "Lord Liu, please capture him as soon as possible and give my royal brother justice!"

Liu Yi frowned almost imperceptibly, paused for a moment, and said, "Of course. I wonder if the princess would allow me to have the post station searched?"

Jiang Zhijing readily agreed: "Please do as you wish, sir."

Her frank attitude made Liu Yifu hesitate.

During the search of the Northern Di prince's room, Dorje expressed strong dissatisfaction: "I have already done more than enough by cooperating with your interrogation, and now you want to search my room? Have I been too kind to you?"

He was tall and strong; when he slammed his fist on the table, the wooden table instantly collapsed.

The guards conducting the search froze, unsure whether to continue. Just then, Liu Yifu walked in: "Your Highness, I'm sure you don't want to be under house arrest here indefinitely, do you?"

After a period of patient communication, Dorje finally relented, though his tone remained somewhat sarcastic: "I have thoroughly experienced the hospitality of your country! When I return to the Northern Barbarians, I will certainly inform my king of the truth!"

Out of sight, out of mind, he stormed out the door in a huff.

Liu Yifu propped his forehead up, looking slightly tired.

Soon, the guard discovered something unusual under the bed, and his expression changed: "Sir, look!"

He carefully wrapped two silver needles, each as thin as a cow's hair, in a handkerchief; the tips of the needles were blackened.

Liu Yifu stared at the silver needle, a vein throbbing on his temple: "..."

No wonder Jiang Zhijing was so confident; she was waiting for him here!

Following procedure, Liu Yifu held up the silver needles and asked Dorje with a serious expression, "Has the prince ever seen this?"

Dorje glanced at it impatiently, his tone irritable: "Why are you showing me this? This prince doesn't like embroidery!"

Liu Yi took a deep breath: "This is evidence of the murder of the second prince of Qi. It was found under your bed."

He wanted Dorjee to realize the seriousness of the problem.

The other person's eyes widened suddenly, staring at the silver needle for a long time, then he flew into a rage, rushed forward, grabbed his collar, and glared at him fiercely: "So, you're playing dirty tricks on me?!"
