Chapter 178 A Familiar Feeling (2/2)

Xueqing's eyes widened as she tried to help her up: "Aunt Yun, what are you doing?"

She refused to get up, tears falling silently, a sight that tugged at the heartstrings.

Shen Tangning's eyes held an unreadable emotion as she asked softly, "Have you encountered any difficulties?"

Her voice sounded concerned, but she didn't move an inch, remaining seated steadily.

Yun Que knew that this second young mistress was not easy to fool, and secretly groaned in her heart.

She closed her eyes briefly, then lifted her sleeve to reveal the crisscrossing scars on her arm: "Ever since Aunt Shen lost her child, her temperament has become increasingly violent, and she often beats and scolds me."

Xueqing, who was standing next to her, stared in astonishment at the injuries on her body.

Is the second young lady really this ruthless in private?

Shen Tangning frowned: "You are, after all, a concubine. How dare she act like this?"

Yun Que wiped away her tears, her voice filled with sorrow: "I had no other choice but to beg the Second Young Mistress. You are her elder sister, so your words might still carry some weight. Could you come with me to persuade Aunt Shen?"

Shen Tangning remained silent for a long time before getting up and sighing helplessly, "So be it."

She followed Yun Que out the door. The carriage was waiting at the side gate. Just before getting in, Shen Tangning paused, glanced at the coachman, and looked at Yun Que with a half-smile: "This coachman looks very unfamiliar. Is Aunt Yun really going to take me to the Marquis's mansion?"

She had been in charge of the household for many years and could recognize the faces of everyone in the Marquis's mansion, if not by name. She had never seen this person before.

Yun Que froze for a moment, then slowly smiled as she met Shen Tangning's gaze: "Young Madam is indeed meticulous."

She paused slightly, then said, "It is His Highness who wishes to see you."

Shen Tangning's eyes flickered. The Fourth Prince wanted to see her?

Before any strange feeling could arise in her heart, she heard Yun Que say frankly, "Seventh Princess."

"You're one of the Seventh Princess's people?" A look of astonishment flashed across Shen Tangning's eyes.

Yun Que smiled and said, "If you're worried, you can bring your own guards."

She had only intended to tie the person up and take them away, but His Highness said, "What, do I look like a robber?"

Yun Que had no choice but to trick people into coming, but Shen Tangning didn't fall for it at all.

After a moment's deliberation, Shen Tangning left Xueqing behind so that she could call for help if things went wrong. She also brought four guards, including Yuan Zhao, before reluctantly agreeing to the arrangement.

She also had some questions that she hadn't figured out yet, and wanted to ask Jiang Zhijing for advice.

However, this person acts unpredictably, so we must be wary.

...

A reed marshland outside the city.

As the sound of horses' hooves drew closer, Jiang Zhijing looked over and a smile crept onto her lips.

Looking at the dozen or so figures, Shen Tangning dismounted and heard one of them whistle: "Bringing so many people, are you worried about me?"

She looked up and met Jiang Zhijing's smiling eyes. She was slightly taken aback, and a look of amazement appeared in her eyes: "Your Highness is incredibly powerful. You even managed to escape from prison. I have to be careful."

Jiang Zhijing dressed in men's clothing today, looking elegant and spirited.

She is currently wanted by the city, yet instead of fleeing for her life, she still has the leisure to see me, which shows how arrogant she is.

Jiang Zhijing didn't mind and waved away those around her: "Want to chat?"

Shen Tangning pursed her lips and asked Yuan Zhao and the others to stand further away.

Jiang Zhijing casually sat down on the ground covered with reeds and patted the spot next to her.

Shen Tangning hesitated for a moment, then carefully sat down, lifting her skirt. She bent her knees slightly, probably because it was her first time trying to sit on the ground like this, and her legs, which were together, seemed a little awkward.

Jiang Zhijing turned around and saw her restrained appearance, and chuckled: "You're still so conventional."

Shen Tangning was taken aback, frowned, and asked tentatively, "Your Highness, it sounds as if we've met before?"

Jiang Zhijing raised an eyebrow: "You remembered?"
