Chapter 253 He Came to Collect the Debt (1/2)

Chi Yan also searched Chi Jingyu's study, but obviously found nothing.

"Now you should believe that your brother is innocent, right?" Chi Jingyu stared at him helplessly, looking like he was just going to play along with his unreasonable tantrum.

Chi Yan's smile vanished completely, and his tone became perfunctory: "I was just following orders, and I apologize for any offense I may have caused. Please forgive me, elder brother."

"It's alright." Chi Jingyu adopted the tolerant and humble demeanor of an elder brother, his tone ambiguous. "Just don't be so impulsive next time. It's only because we're family that we don't hold it against you. If it were someone else, they would surely report you to His Majesty."

Chi Yan met his gaze, his eyes unreadable, and slowly curled his lips: "I will always keep your teachings in mind, elder brother."

Chi Yan turned and took two steps, then suddenly turned back. Meeting Chi Jingyu's surprised gaze, he leaned down slightly and said, "I suddenly remembered that I seem to have left something in my brother's bedroom. Would my brother mind if I went back to get it?"

Chi Jingyu's lips stiffened slightly, but he said nonchalantly, "What is it? I'll have a servant run to it."

"It's just a few steps, no need to bother." Chi Yan said, already striding towards Chi Jingyu's room.

The latter's face darkened, and he had no choice but to follow.

Once inside, Chi Yan wandered around aimlessly for a few minutes, but he couldn't find anything he had lost. Chi Jingyu felt both impatient and uneasy.

"What exactly is my second brother looking for? Why don't I help you look for it?"

His eyes were suspicious, and he had already begun to doubt Chi Yan's motives.

He doesn't look like he's lost anything at all!

Chi Yan walked up to a lamp stand, and under Chi Jingyu's suddenly narrowed gaze, he reached out and twisted the lamp stand, his tone revealing a hint of surprise: "Ah, you found it?"

With a dull thud, one end of the canopy bed slowly rose, revealing a dark passageway.

Chi Jingyu's composure crumbled instantly, his heart churning with turmoil. He quickly realized what was happening, his voice laced with gritted teeth: "She actually told you even this!"

Chi Yan couldn't possibly know that there was a secret room hidden in his room; even his servants were unaware of it. The only person who knew was—

That was Shen Tangning.

But she actually told Chi Yan such an important thing?

This was something Chi Kyung-ok never expected.

It wasn't that he was being presumptuous and thought Shen Tangning still had feelings for him, but how was he supposed to explain it after she told Chi Yan?

How could she know there was a secret room in her room?

She couldn't possibly have come to such a private space; the only explanation is that they have a complicated relationship.

She overestimated Chi Yan's trust. He is a man after all, and a man cannot tolerate his woman being entangled with other men!

But Shen Tangning was willing to bear such suspicion to tell Chi Yan. Doesn't this prove that Chi Yan's position in her heart has long surpassed everything?

She chose to betray herself for Chi Yan!

This is something that Chi Kyung-ok absolutely cannot accept!

Upon hearing this, Chi Yan narrowed his eyes, a cold glint flashing in them.

Before leaving, Shen Tangning stopped him and, after much hesitation, revealed the secret that Chi Jingyu's bedroom contained a hidden room.

His immediate reaction was one of disbelief: "How did you know?"

Would Chi Jingyu easily tell others about such a secret?

Obviously not, unless it's someone he trusts very much...
