Chi Yan glanced around and said casually, "There's no one else here. Besides, I just took off my shirt. What's so ridiculous about that?"
Upon hearing this, Shen Tangning's face grew even hotter. Wasn't she just another person?
Furthermore, what do you mean he only took off his shirt? Did he intend to take off his pants as well...?
"That's still not allowed..."
Suddenly, Chi Yan swam towards her. She took two steps back warily, only to see him looking at her with a playful expression: "You really don't want to come down and try?"
She shook her head with a determined look in her eyes.
"Alright, then you can watch from the shore." He shrugged and didn't insist, turning around and diving into the river to earnestly catch fish.
It was also Shen Tangning's first time in such a place. She touched and looked around with great curiosity, scooped up a handful of water and felt the coolness as it passed through her fingertips, her eyes sparkling brightly.
Chi Yan appeared to be focused on slacking off, but in reality, his attention was entirely on her. Seeing her looking at everything with childlike curiosity, he couldn't help but curl up the corners of his lips.
She looks much better this way. Even though she's younger than him, she always seems so bitter and resentful. Anyone who didn't know better would think she had some deep-seated grudge...
Seeing Shen Tangning secretly glancing over out of the corner of his eye, Chi Yan immediately lowered his eyes as if nothing had happened.
Shen Tangning pursed her lips, and seeing the fish swimming back and forth in the water, she felt a little itchy. The distance was a bit far, and she would have to take off her shoes and wade across.
But she just said she wouldn't go into the water, so isn't she contradicting herself now?
She looked around several times to make sure no one would suddenly pass by in this desolate place. She glanced in Chi Yan's direction and, seeing that no one was paying attention, secretly took off her shoes and socks and tentatively put her feet into the stream.
The stream water in summer wasn't particularly cool; it carried the warmth of the sun. For someone as conventional as Shen Tangning, this novel experience was undoubtedly a bold attempt.
She felt thrilled, carefully clutching the hem of her skirt as she waded further away.
Little did they know that Chi Yan had seen all of this. He gazed at the figure clearly reflected on the water, unable to suppress the smile in his eyes.
Shen Tangning was so captivated by the fish and shrimp in the stream that she completely forgot about the embarrassment of being discovered by Chi Yan and focused on catching fish.
She had no tools, so she simply tied a knot in her skirt around her waist and used both hands to scoop up the fish. The fish was only as long as her little finger, but it moved very nimbly.
After several unsuccessful attempts, Shen Tangning was not discouraged at all. Instead, she became more determined and worked hard for most of the day. Finally, she managed to catch a small fish!
Looking at the fish frantically swimming in her hand, her eyes widened in surprise, her excitement overflowing. She instinctively looked up and exclaimed, "Ayan, I caught one..."
Unbeknownst to her, Chi Yan had already arrived in front of her. Startled, Shen Tangning slipped and fell unsteadily into the water.
Just as she thought she was about to get soaked to the bone and closed her eyes in despair,
Chi Yan swiftly scooped her up and pulled her into his arms, his tone teasing: "Why are you so nervous? Feeling guilty?"
Shen Tangning clung tightly to him, her heart finally at ease. She couldn't help but clench her fist and punch his shoulder playfully, asking reproachfully, "Who told you to come here so suddenly?"
The firm feel of his hand startled her for a moment before she realized with embarrassment that he was shirtless and her hand was on his shoulder, feeling a warm and strong touch under her palm.
Chi Yan looks slender, but he is the type who is muscular when he takes off his clothes. His arms and body are covered with a thin layer of well-proportioned muscles, and his shoulders are wide and his waist is narrow, with excellent proportions.
Her ears felt a little hot without her noticing. Usually, it was only after the lights were off; this was the first time she had ever looked him over like this in broad daylight.
Seeing her face growing increasingly red, Chi Yan's gaze subtly darkened: "What are you thinking about?"
Shen Tangning suddenly froze, her face showing a hint of panic: "Chi Yan, it feels like something is rubbing against my foot, it's slippery, and it's moving!"
It doesn't feel like the touch of a small fish swimming by.
