Chapter 280 Sending You Off for a Thousand Miles (2/2)

Chi Yan stroked his chin and muttered to himself:

It should have been about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, right?

What could they be talking about that could keep them talking for so long?

Tsk, Liu Yifu, that idiot, you can't get a word out of him when you chat normally, why is he talking so much now?

He was suffering greatly internally, and unconsciously kicked the rickety stone brick in the corner several times. With a "bang", several pieces of stone rolled down.

He was dumbfounded and utterly shocked: he hadn't used much force, so what kind of shoddy construction was this?!

Feeling guilty, he looked up and saw Shen Tangning smiling at him, and Liu Yifu also looked over.

Chi Yan straightened up instantly, walked over slowly, and looked the two of them over with his gaze, saying in a deliberately casual tone, "Oh, you're done chatting so quickly? Aren't you going to chat a little longer?"

Shen Tangning gave him a meaningful look, thinking that if they kept talking, he might just tear this wall down!

Liu Yifu said considerately, "I've said what I needed to say. I'm sorry to have kept Brother Chi waiting."

"No!" Chi Yan looked around casually, feigning calmness. "It hasn't been long. You can chat some more. I don't mind."

What's the meaning?

What does it mean to say what should have been said, and what shouldn't have been said?

Damn it! Liu Yifu, that repressed pervert, what exactly did they talk about behind his back?

Liu Yifu cleared her throat and said with a smile, "It's about time, I should hurry up and set off."

His carriage was waiting on the side. Shen Tangning glanced at the sun and nodded: "Then we won't delay your journey, sir. Take care."

Chi Yan suppressed her jealousy and patted him on the shoulder: "Come back and let's have dinner and drinks together!"

After saying that, he quickly glanced at Shen Tangning and cautiously changed his words, "A little drink, a little drink is good for the soul!"

She smiled without saying a word, her eyes conveying a natural intimacy that seemed to be both smiling and not smiling.

Liu Yi pursed her lips, restraining the emotions in her eyes: "Even after a thousand miles of seeing you off, we must part ways. Take care of yourselves."

He turned and got into the carriage, his figure thin and forlorn. He whispered to the driver to set off, then, after a moment's thought, lifted the curtain and looked back.

Shen Tangning and Chi Yan stood at the city gate watching him leave. A smile curved his lips, and his voice was so low it drifted into the wind:

Goodbye, Ah Tang.

The carriage drove away, gradually becoming a black dot.

Chi Yan glanced at Shen Tangning and casually asked, "What did you two talk about?"

She glanced at him slowly, then turned and walked back: "We didn't talk about anything."

"What do you mean by 'we didn't talk about anything'?" Chi Yan quickly followed, seemingly determined to press the matter. "Liu Yifu didn't secretly say anything bad about me, did he?"

She was speechless for a moment: "What kind of person do you think Lord Liu is?"

“Lord Liu,” Chi Yan paused, his tone tinged with bitterness, “you’re calling me that rather intimately.”

"..."

Shen Tangning stopped and looked up at him, blinking her eyes: "Lord Chi, you're so childish."

He choked, embarrassment creeping into his ears, and pinched her cheek, saying fiercely, "Don't call me Lord Chi! Are you trying to drive me crazy?"

Shen Tangning: "Tsk."

Who says men don't act unreasonably?
