Chapter 301 Quickly Pinch the Philtrum (2/2)

Is there anything more satisfying than watching Chi Yan suffer misfortune?

"Where is it?" After walking for so long under the scorching sun, Minister Gong was getting impatient.

The subordinate quickly explained, "Sir, we're almost there! Look, it's just ahead!"

Minister Gong quickly looked up and, sure enough, he saw a group of people gathered around the edge of the field from afar, looking quite lively.

As he got closer, he spotted Chi Yan in the crowd, and a gloating smile crept onto his lips: "Oh, what's going on here? Folks, let's talk things out. Why make things difficult for Lord Chi..."

Before he could finish speaking, the smile on his face froze on his lips.

Chi Yan turned around, a piece of melon dangling from his mouth, and mumbled, "What did you say, Minister?"

Minister Gong blinked in disbelief, staring at him with a bewildered look.

A group of people were fawning over Chi Yan, saying, "Lord Chi, you've worked hard. I specially brought you a stool. Come, sit down and let's talk!"

"Lord Chi, these are melons from our own garden. Aren't they sweet? I've also picked some vegetables for you. Remember to take them home with you!"

Unable to refuse their kind invitation, Chi Yan waved his hand and declined, saying, "You're all too kind!"

Minister Gong stared wide-eyed in disbelief:

Didn't they say that Chi Yan was surrounded by a group of villagers who wouldn't let her leave?

Why does this situation seem to be different from what he expected?

Chi Yan took a moment to glance at Minister Gong, his expression sincere: "Minister Gong, would you like some melon seeds?"

Minister Gong took a deep breath, his lips trembling violently. A sudden thought struck him, as if he had seized some leverage: "Chi Yan, what did I send you here for? You don't do any work, but instead you're here accepting bribes from the people?!"

Chi Yanmei twitched slightly, but before he could speak, the villagers beside him spontaneously spoke up for him:

"What are you saying, sir? These are just a few melons I grew myself, they're not worth much money, how can that be called a bribe?"

Aunt Li was originally thinking of giving him a few pieces, but upon hearing this, she immediately withdrew her hand and glared at him as if guarding against a wolf.

The village chief stepped forward, his expression solemn: "Sir, you must have misunderstood something. Lord Chi has worked so hard to help us with the farm work, we are just returning the favor."

"Worked so hard?" Minister Gong looked at Chi Yan's contented appearance and couldn't reconcile those words with him.

"That's right!" The village chief pointed to the combine harvester working in the field, his tone proud, "That's all thanks to Lord Chi!"

Minister Gong stared wide-eyed and saw a person pushing something across the field, his expression puzzled.

What is that thing?

He was too embarrassed to ask, because wouldn't that expose his ignorance?

Several experienced farmers surrounded Chi Yan, humbly asking, "Master Chi, could you teach us how to make your harvester and hoe? To be honest, I've lived most of my life and have never seen such useful farm tools!"

Chi Yan raised his hand to signal everyone to be quiet: "Even if you don't say anything, I still intend to teach you."

Li Erzhu looked ashamed and took a few steps forward abruptly: "Lord Chi, I was very offensive before. Please forgive me this time, as you are a magnanimous person who doesn't hold grudges."

Chi Yan looked him over and asked with a smile, "Are you willing to move now?"

Li Erzhu said decisively, "Move it!"

...

Upon witnessing this harmonious scene, Minister Gong's vision went black, his body trembled, and he fell straight backward.

His subordinates hurriedly helped him up, asking, "Sir, sir, are you alright?"

Chi Yan looked over, eager to see what would happen: "Oh dear, quickly pinch his philtrum! The Minister has heatstroke!"

"..."
