Chapter 334 Lost and Found (1/2)

"Sir, shall we knock?"

Seeing Dahei stop in front of a courtyard gate, wagging its tail happily, Feng San grabbed its head, stuffed a piece of meat bone into its mouth, and turned to ask Chi Yan.

The words had barely left his mouth when Chi Yan kicked the wooden door open with a powerful thud!

He paused for a moment: ...

It's unnecessary to ask that question.

Chi Yan led his men into the room aggressively and split into several groups to search the premises.

Soon someone noticed the anomaly and cried out in alarm, "Commander, there's a corpse here!"

Chi Yan's eyes narrowed, and he pushed through the crowd to examine the body. He crouched down and saw the short arrow embedded in the corpse; his eyes darkened instantly.

This is a hidden arrow he specially made for Shen Tangning. She really is here!

Someone helped the just-conscious Chi Jingyu out. He was still a little unsteady on his feet: "My lord, Minister Chi is here too!"

Chi Yan's face darkened, and she rushed forward, grabbing his collar and demanding, "What are you doing here? Why are you all alone? Where's A-Ning?!"

Chi Jingyu looked up, his eyes slightly blank. He quickly remembered something, and his expression changed: "She's been kidnapped!"

"Sir, the tea is still hot; the person just left not long ago!"

"I'll settle the score with you later!" Without time to ask for details, Chi Yan glared coldly at Chi Jingyu and turned to walk away.

"One team of men, come with me to chase them. The rest of you stay here and search every inch of the place!"

As he passed a shack, he suddenly stopped and turned to look at it.

His men, not understanding what was going on, also stopped. Just as they were about to speak, they saw him raise his hand to signal for silence, so they had no choice but to shut their mouths.

This was a sheep pen with two lambs tied up inside. A haphazard pile of hay lay in the corner, not particularly noticeable. Chi Yan slowly approached, his hand resting on the sword at his waist, his eyes turning cold.

Just as he approached, a sudden change occurred. A dark figure suddenly darted out, and a cold glint appeared in his eyes!

"Commander, be careful!"

Chi Yan was about to raise his knife to strike, but stopped in time when he caught sight of the familiar skirt. He only managed to grab the other person's wrist, but a scratch was still left on the back of his hand.

With a do-or-die mentality, Shen Tangning thrust the hairpin out fiercely. Unexpectedly, when she looked up, she met a pair of familiar eyes. Her gaze froze, and the hairpin in her hand fell to the ground: "...Husband?"

Chi Yan half-encircled her in his arms and looked down at her. Her current appearance was undeniably disheveled, with messy hair, abrasions on her face, and shocking bloodstains on her clothes. He wondered what she had gone through.

Shen Tangning remained relatively calm, though her eyes showed a hint of shock: "Your hand is injured!"

She thought it was the group of thieves who had come, so she didn't hold back at all. When she saw that Chi Yan's hand had been cut, although it wasn't deep, it bled instantly, and a hint of annoyance flashed in her eyes.

Filled with the joy of regaining what was lost, Chi Yan didn't even notice his injury, and the force he used to restrain her waist unconsciously became a little too strong.

It wasn't until the person next to her coughed that Shen Tangning snapped out of her daze and gave him a light push with an embarrassed expression.

Chi Yan loosened his grip, pulled her around, and his gaze lingered on the choke marks on her neck. His expression turned cold: "The blood on your body..."
